In the city of Seattle and its surrounding areas, today is a very special day. Our beloved Seattle Seahawks are playing in Super Bowl 48, just now taking the field and the 12th Man, a.k.a. the fans, is standing behind our team in full force. I grew up in Seattle and I’ve never seen my city light up like this before and it has even made me, someone far from a football fanatic, get behind the team… and get decked out in Hawk gear from head to toe. You can’t help but get swept up in all this hometown pride!
One way I’ve been all about the Seahawks has been with my nails, I’ve been rocking a little navy blue, white, neon green and a hint a grey for a few weeks now. When Cover Girl invited me to #nailgate with them during the Super Bowl and create my own fanicure, I was completely on board. I played around with some Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant nail polish shades to create some nail art and figure out what I was going to wear on game day today. Granted, my looks are not as amazing as Cover Girl’s look,
I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by Cover Girl’s nail polishes. All of the shades I tried had a great formula to them. All of them had a nice, thin consistency that is well pigmented, self-leveling and quick drying. The best thing about them is that they completely affordable. I used Snow Storm, Appletini, Sapphire Flare and Non-Stop Stone to create the designs below. All of these looks only involved 1 coat of nail polish with minimal touching up. Consider me officially in love with Outlast Stay Brilliant from here on out.
For my first look, I painted all my nails in Sapphire Flare. Again, I only needed 1 coat, which made me really happy since it cut down on drying time before moving on to the stripping. I took Snow Storm painted an arrow on my nails then filled in the rest with Appletini. This has been my look for most of the work week.
Saturday was play day so I tried something different. I alternated Appletini and Sapphire Flare in halves on each nail and filled in the other half with Snow Storm. Then I took Appletini and Sapphire Flare and used them to paint a stripe down the middle of each nail, alternating the shades.
In the end, I decided to wear this last look this afternoon. I painted my nails with Non-Stop Stone for the base then painted chevrons on my thumbs. Then I painted stripes along the tips of each nail with the other shades, I painted the first two fingers in one direction and then the last two fingers in the opposite direction. I wanted to mimic the point on my thumbs.
Who are you rooting for during the game? Please be rooting for Seattle, otherwise we can’t be friends anymore. 😉 Are you even watching? I have to say, in the past, I really couldn’t care less but this year, we went all out and put on a pretty good spread. This is my first time watching the game and my anxiety level is through the roof! Off to have some chicken wings and beer!
