NARS Sex Appeal Blush and Melusine Duo Eyeshadow

NARS Holiday 2010 collection is shaping up to be one of my favorite NARS launches this year. I’ve been especially smitten with two items: Sex Appeal Blush and Melusine Duo Eyeshadow.

Sex Appeal Blush, as you can see, is a light pinky-peach matte. It’s got some chalkiness to it, but on my cheeks it glows.

Melusine is just perfection. The silvery pewter shade is so creamy and glamorous — and incredibly easy to wear. It works beautifully alone with other colors or even just some black eyeliner (winged out adds a nice touch!), but it is a perfect mate for the matte purple shadow it shares a case with. NARS purple eyeshadow duos are actually becoming a holiday beauty tradition for me of sorts. Last year, Eurydice wowed me and prior to that it was Jolie Poupee. I’m happy to keep this tradition going!

Also, my swatch of Sex Appeal is actually pretty invisible on my hand — appearing lighter than my skin. I don’t know how to explain the transformation, but on my cheeks, over foundation or a cream highlighter, it is peachy pink perfection. I think that lighter skin tones are the ones that can pull it off, so if you fit that category it’s worth checking out.

Anyone else pick up any NARS holiday items? Let us know!

  1. Thanks for the review! I didn’t get blush fearing it would be too light, so it is good to know it shows up peachier on the face! I think I’ll put it on my wishlist! 🙂

  2. Hey Shannon! I ordered the blush blindly and am so happy with it! It really is perfect over a highlighter or even a cream blush. I think that having something for it to adhere to helps let the color pop — even if it’s just foundation, because I’ve definitely used it just with foundation and the color still pops.

  3. Oh goody! I’ve been so curious about Sex Appeal–wait…that sounded funny–the blush I mean! I was also worried that the purple shade in the duo might be muddy, but it sure doesn’t look like when swatched. Thanks Laurie!

  4. Hey Cindy — I love the purple part of the duo. It’s hard to swatch because it’s so soft! Not muddy or too red — it’s very plum. Love it layered over eyeliner, or using it wet as eyeliner. By the time this holiday season is over, I think I’ll own every piece of this collection. The gold shade – Estruque — is next on my list!
