Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara = Extremely Natural Fringe

I am sure that there are countless “that’s what she said” jokes to be made here, but honestly, I think I’ve finally come across a mascara wand that is too big. Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara is definitely in the extreme category when it comes to wand length. But the twist here is the natural, subdued effect this mascara has on lashes is anything but extreme.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme (L) and Chanel Inimitable Intense (R)

To give you a sense of scale, I put Sumptuous Extreme next to Chanel Inimitable Intense, my current favorite mascara. As you can see, Sumptuous Extreme could eat my Inimitable Intense for breakfast. But you know the old adage ladies, bigger is not always better. Rather, it’s how your wand works your lashes.

For me, Sumptuous Extreme gave an incredibly natural effect. It lengthened and separated fairly well, but didn’t wow me in the lash multiplying and volumizing department. The formula was soft and gentle on lashes, never flaking and easily removed. I also tested this in Extreme Indigo and found I preferred the natural effect it gave me when color was involved. For those that prefer natural-looking lashes, this could work. It’s available in four shades total, including Violet and Brown.

While the extreme effect wasn’t quite enough for me, I can honestly say this is the largest mascara wand I’ve ever used. And I lived to tell! Now go ahead, crack jokes in the comments:)
