Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get Better

Diorshow Blackout Mascara If you ladies are anything like me, you have spent half of your life savings on mascara. No kidding, I have tried everything from $6.99 mascaras from CVS to the $40.00 mascaras found in Sephora. A couple of weeks back, I was in Sephora checking out the new summer releases and came upon Dior’s Diorshow Black Out Mascara. To my disappointment, they were all sold out. Well, you know that tweaked my curiousity that much more! A mascara that’s so good that its flying off the shelves? I had to try it.

Last weekend while checking out MAC’s Moonbathe collection, I thought I’d stop over to see if the mascara had been restocked and lucky for me, they did. Just when I thought Dior couldn’t get better than the Diorshow.. short of putting on falsies, there is nothing else that has made my lashes look like this. I have the worst of all worlds….short, skimpy and straight lashes. I’m not really sure what the difference between the regular Diorshow and the Blackout really is, but having used both, the Blackout is definitely a darker black that elongates and curls my lashes. For a product which needs to be replaced every 3 months, the price is a bit steep, but just do what I did… 3 months divided by $23.00 = $7.60. I feel better already!

  1. Awesome – I’ll have to try it. But can you offer some advice on how to manage the fat brush? I seem to get it all over my eyelids!! (I’m a bit of a mascara klutz, so I usually keep Q-tips on hand)

  2. Hi I use this mascara as its the only one out there black enough. I also have Q tips on standby but I find that if you hold the brush to eyelids then wiggle it slowly then that works. The only time it doesnt is when I blink! I also find looking down into a hand held mirror gives me a better application less messy. If you still cannot get on with the brush then I would say by the MAC mascara brush and use that as its thinner.

  3. I want to try this mascara but I need to know if it smudges or runs? I’m SO sick of racoon eyes, masacara that leaves particles on my cheeks and so on. Before I shell out the coconuts I just want to see if anyone can answer from experience. Is there anywhere I could try it on?
    Thanks in advance!

  4. Hi, over in London the Dior counters were giving away trial size in with their gifts but I actually went along to a counter and asked for them to try it on me one lunchtime. The mascara lasted all afternoon during really warm weather (and no ac) with no smudging or flaking and the colour looked good. I went back the next day and bought it, my friend liked how it looked on me as it is real black and then went and got one herself. Neither of us have had an issue with smudging (my friend wears glasses and had no issues). Like I mentioned in my last post I am a bit clumsy when I put mascara on but the brush was ok, if there are problems then a mac brush can be purchased or as my friend does she saved an old mascara wand and used that with this mascara

  5. I used to spend $$$ on mascara & converted to a cake mascara by le femme. It is really BIG cake, lasts 4 ages comes w a fab brush never ever clumps..is truly buildable & never dries out. The BEST product I have ever used & I have tried them all.
