Ever have a product that you love and suddenly, inexplicably, they are no where to be found? This is how I feel about some of my favorites from Rimmel. Without warning, the products I’m loving mysteriously disappear from drugstore shelves.
My first experience with this was their Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquers shown here. Before matte liquid lipsticks were on the scene, Rimmel introduced these as an alternative to the liquid lipsticks being put out at the time by brands like Guerlain. At a fraction of the price, I stocked up and happily kept them everywhere I could possibly need them. Then they were gone and before long, the only shades I could find were the ones no one wanted on clearance.
This year for the holidays, I’ve kept my look super simple and it’s been a great time saver. I’ve added just a few products outside of my regular makeup routine to add a little sparkle this season, otherwise it is business as usual. Here are the holiday beauty products that I’ve added to my arsenal this season:
There are some things in life that just make you feel good about yourself. Getting my makeup done by someone is one of those things, I leave the artist’s chair feeling more confident and put together, even having learned a few new tricks. Whenever I have the chance to do this, I clear my calendar and jump at the opportunity. There’s bound to be a few good selfies in it! 😉
This Saturday the Bellevue Nordstrom is one of those opportunities. Dolce & Gabbana’s National Makeup Artist Christian McCulloch will be on site giving private one on one makeup consultations as well as introducing the new Dolce Matte Lipstick and Summer Shine makeup collections. If you haven’t had the chance to play with these collections yet, Saturday is the perfect time to up your red lipstick game and plan your summer makeup wardrobe.

The Dolce & Gabbana spring makeup collection has landed on counters and it is serving up the perfect spring look on a pretty platter. This collection is overflowing with vivid color to play with for nails, lips, eyes and cheeks. Even if bright colors are out of your comfort zone, this collection’s palette of color has options to ease your way into that bright light.
Before I really got into makeup (aka before blogging), I never wore blush… I figured my skin had enough redness so why add to it? It was one of those “once in awhile” things. I tend to go dark with my hair in the fall and I was a full-on “embrace your pastiness” gal until I realized I looked way too pale. I’ve told you this before, I’m not really a bronzer person (I only own 1 or 2 now) but blush is now here to stay… especially a cream blush. It is practically obscene how many cream blushes I own.
My current go-to blush is the new Benefit Majorette Booster Blush, a cream-to-powder matte blush designed to be worn underneath your favorite blush or on it’s own for a pretty peach flush. And will you look at this packaging? Benefit can always be counted on for its gorgeous packing. It’s love at first blush on every level for me.

Just when I was thinking Fresh should come out with a new Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, something new and different for summer, they drop this on us… their new Fresh Sugar Tulip shade.
This new shade was tested during the L’Wrenn Scott and Prabal Gurung Spring 2014 runway shows. Fresh co-founder Alina Roytberg was inspired by the streets of New York City, where 60,000 tulips are planted along Park Avenue every spring. That particular year, the tulips were a bright, vibrant pink and Fresh Tulip was born. The color is buildable, like other Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments, to give you a sheer bubblegum pout or rich full-on fuchsia.
This is exactly the kind of shade I have been waiting for Fresh to make. It joins other shades in the Fresh Tinted Lip Treatment lineup: Petal, Honey, Coral, Rose, Passion, Cherry, Berry and Plum. To me, this is the kind of product I just buy, I don’t need to try it. I have all the other shades so I know the product well, I just want that new color.
Forever 21 has always given us bargain seeking gals a few beauty products to spoil ourselves with, some nail polishes here and some lip glosses there. Now they are introducing Forever 21 Premium Cosmetics, a full range of cosmetics available online and in select stores with a mix of trendy shades as well as core make-up essentials. This full collection of beauty must-haves includes 23 products and 72 styles with prices ranging from $7.80 to $14.80 USD.
The line was developed with the makeup savvy in mind (this means us!) and includes both cream and single eye shadows, lipstick, shimmer stick, blush, mascara, foundation, concealer and pressed powder in an array of shades and tints. The collection will be displayed in stores to allow for swatching and testing before purchasing.
Did you see the lip and cheek stains? I need to track down a store nearby so I can check these out for myself! How about you? Is your curiosity peaked?
I recently had the chance to chat with the Jason Wu for a little bit about his collaboration with Lancome, a fall collection available exclusively at Nordstrom. Jason Wu has worked with Lancome in the past for his shows during New York Fashion Week but this is the first time he’s created an actual collection with Lancome or any other brand. It is a natural evolution of their working relationship and I hope we get to see that relationship continue to evolve. A girl can hope for a Jason Wu fragrance, right? If you’re not familiar with Jason Wu, chances are you know his work. He’s best known for designing the dresses Michelle Obama wore during the first and second inaugurations.
I also had the chance to meet Darais, Lancome’s National Makeup Artist. Aside from being a devastatingly handsome man, he’s an amazing makeup artist and has worked with some incredible people during his career. I was lucky enough to sit in a chair and have him do my eyes, loving the smokey blue look he gave. He also shared a few new tricks with me from doing my eyes to posing for pictures. God, I loved this man!
