Revlon + Product Girl on Metallic Eyes for Holiday

Tis the season for really festive makeup. While we love metallic eyes and red lips all year round, the look definitely has more impact in December. It really is the best time of the year. This month, we teamed with Revlon to showcase our holiday best. The star of this metallic eyes show is Revlon Luxurious Color™ Diamond Lust™ Eye Shadow in Plum Galaxy. Its glam-inducing sidekick is Revlon Super Lustrous™ Lipstick in Red Lacquer. And I paired it with gold sequins. It might be fair to say this is my favorite Revlon video (and this is our 12th this year!)

I have become quite the fan of the Diamond Lust Eye Shadows. They’re sparkly, yes, but actually pretty pigmented. A wet brush could work well for application, but I’ve found my fingers press it on really well. And this comes from the girl that hardly ever uses her fingers to apply any eye makeup. I think perhaps I should use them more given my successful go with the Diamond Lust.

This Revlon look is actually our official last of 2012, so to celebrate, we’re giving away ten Diamond Lust Eye Shadows. Leave a comment by Wednesday, December 12, telling us what makeup look you will be wearing this holiday season. Tips and tricks always a welcome share. We’ll pick 10 random winners from there.

Good luck!

Brighter than Before, New BECCA Beach Tints

Lip and cheek stains tend to have a liquid consistency, which is exactly the opposite of why we we love BECCA Beach Tints.  Unlike its category counterparts, BECCA Beach Tints are creamy to touch and blend down dry on skin. They also smell subtly of the fruit they are named which is a nice bonus. These are somewhat of a cult favorite in our makeup bag. BECCA has the mystique of being a little difficult to find and it’s one of those brands worth tracking down. Trust. I live for the pinky nude Fig Beach Tint, but have to admit the three new shades: Lychee, Dragonfruit and Papaya, are all I want to wear lately. As you can see, this trio of Beach Tints are anything but nude. All three are vibrant and brightening, and their creamy consistency is what we’ve come to know and expect. Lychee is a wear your sunglasses bright hot pink whereas Dragronfruit is a medium bright poppy pink. And Papaya is a hot red orange that is brighter than it appears. Yes, that’s possible. Naturally, we love this shade.

And have you heard? BECCA is making its way to a Sephora near you. Already available on Sephora.com, BECCA will debut at a select few Sephora stores in 2012 (23 in total) with plans for more in 2013. Good news for those in smaller markets, as it appears it will also be in at least 50 Sephora in JCP locations in March with plans to expand into 150 locations by the end of next year.

Cheers to more BECCA and new Beach Tints!

Holiday Gift Guide: The Girl’s Guy

Every girl has a guy to gift. Be it your man, your dad, brother or best dude. Our final gift guide this week is all about The Girl’s Guy. Presents for the special, and usually difficult to shop for, guy in your life. This list is a mix of practical and splurge, and hope it gives you some inspiration this holiday.

The holidays are a perfect time to treat your guy to some new skin and body care. I know my husband always appreciates some new product! Try the Kiehl’s Men’s Starter Kit for a sampling of travel goodies in a portable bag. We love it even more so because it includes a bar of our favorite dude soap.

Fact. Men hate spending money on nice slippers. Fact. Men appreciate warm and cozy slippers during the wintertime. UGG Australia ‘Ascot’ Slipper is a thoughtful and practical gift. Plus, these have a hard bottom so you can step outside in them.

I grew up getting socks and underwear in my stocking and every year. So naturally, it’s something I always gift to my guy. These J Crew Socks are a splurgy spin on a staple and I think they amp up the fun factor a bit. Plus, they’re super warm and cozy.

The gift that continues to give each month, of course, a Birchbox Man subscription! Available in 3, 6 and 12-month varieties.

I picked up the Old Calgary Alpha Wallet for my husband this holiday (shhh….don’t tell) and I think he’s going to love it. He carries way too much in his wallet and this will help him lighten his back pocket and be super stylish at that same time. Don’t you just love the leather patch?

Wild Ophelia Chocolate is man sweets. How fun are the flavors? We like Beef Jerky (it’s actually YUM!), New Orleans Chili and Smokehouse BBQ Potato Chip. Perfect stocking stuffer!

Holiday Hot List: Make Up For Ever Be Your Own Make Up Artist

Make Up For Ever Be Your Own Makeup Artist

If money was no object this holiday season, this Make Up For Ever Be Your Own Make Up Artist set would be the first thing on my shopping list. Too bad I didn’t win the big Powerball drawing last night! For $950, the set includes a limited edition train case filled with 38 of Dany Sanz’s favorite products, she filled it with all of the essentials she uses in her own kit.

This set is like having a little piece of New York Fashion Week backstage or a film set right in your own home. The train case has five compartments chocked full of products, two outlets for hair tools, retractable legs to transform the case to a vanity, and my favorite… six 40-watt bulbs so you can get ready for your close up with proper lighting.

So what products does it come with? Keep reading for a closer look…

Holiday Gift Guide: The Active Girl

Our holiday gift guide continues today with gift ideas for The Active Girl. She’s the girl who can get out of bed for an early a.m. workout (we so wish we were her!) and has probably done some type of “athalon.” If you’re not sure what to get her, think gym bag essentials.

Showering at the gym is my least favorite activity, but The Active Girl does it on the regular. So she doesn’t sacrifice skincare, give her the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel packs to store in her gym bag. They exfoliate, improve skin texture and brighten skin in just a few minutes.

Can you say best makeup bag ever? Sonia Kashuk Completely Organized Bag is the most practical gift ever. A classic black nylon bag with so many zippered compartments and pouches to neatly store all of your makeup. This would make a great gift — and you could stuff a few beauty goodies in there to boot!

Securing your hair during a workout is the key to a successful one in my book. How fun are these sparkly Kitsch Metallic Mix Headbands? They stay in place during an hour of cardio sculpt and up the fab factor tremendously. Plus, they are super cute when you’re not at the gym. Find these at Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie.

Snack and Give Back. Bobbi Brown teamed with KIND to create this Eat Pretty Powerful Cube with sales supporting a free public charter school in NYC that helps empower vulnerable youth. The Cube contains 20 of Bobbi’s favorite KIND bars (including Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt – yum!) The Active Girl will totally appreciate this huge supply of KIND fuel.

The Active Girl is constantly showering, so gift her with Kiehl’s Limited Edition Crème de Corps designed by New York Pop artist Kenny Scharf, so her skin stays moisturized. This is one of the holiday collections we look forward to every year, because 100% of profits support RxArt, which brings art to pediatric hospitals. The design is so fun, with Kenny Scharf’s “Squirt” character.
