Just when I was thinking Fresh should come out with a new Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, something new and different for summer, they drop this on us… their new Fresh Sugar Tulip shade.
This new shade was tested during the L’Wrenn Scott and Prabal Gurung Spring 2014 runway shows. Fresh co-founder Alina Roytberg was inspired by the streets of New York City, where 60,000 tulips are planted along Park Avenue every spring. That particular year, the tulips were a bright, vibrant pink and Fresh Tulip was born. The color is buildable, like other Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments, to give you a sheer bubblegum pout or rich full-on fuchsia.
This is exactly the kind of shade I have been waiting for Fresh to make. It joins other shades in the Fresh Tinted Lip Treatment lineup: Petal, Honey, Coral, Rose, Passion, Cherry, Berry and Plum. To me, this is the kind of product I just buy, I don’t need to try it. I have all the other shades so I know the product well, I just want that new color.
The relationship that we have with our hair stylist is one of the most important ones we have. The good hair they help us achieve gives us confidence, it picks us up and makes us feel good. Does it not? Good hair is a powerful thing! I’ve been without my trusted stylist for a little while now and my hair has had some ups and downs. Since I moved closer to the heart of Seattle, I’ve been looking for a new salon to call home and I finally think I found it. I was recently invited to visit the Robert Leonard Salon & Day Spa in downtown Seattle to see what they are all about. Since my hair was still in recovery from the damage done by another well known local chain, it was definitely an invitation my hair was ready to accept.
For those of you in Seattle, the Robert Leonard Salon is located on 6th Avenue between Lenora and Virginia. If you’re familiar with the Westin Hotel, it is right around the corner from the hotel. Founded over 30 years ago by Robert Salmons and his partner, the salon is home to over 20 stylists and colorists that offer a complete range of haircare services, including extensions. From what I gathered from my stylist during my visit, the salon also offers stylists the opportunity to continue to learn with education offered along the way, most recently from Oribe.
Keep reading for a look inside the salon, more about my experience at the salon and a giveaway!

Oh, how I would love to see more brands do something like this. How about you? Which brands would you like to see follow suit? This definitely seems like something Urban Decay could do, for one.
The new philosophy loveswept fragrance has hit store shelves and is ready to sweep you off your feet, so to speak. This newest floral eau de toilette from the brand retails from $16 for a 0.50oz. to $46 for a 20z. bottle.
loveswept opens with a burst of bergamot and citrus that slowly fades out and gives way to notes of jasmine, lotus blossom and passion fruit with a base of amber and musk. philosophy describes the fragrance:
loveswept: A vibrant, feminine, romantic and youthful fragrance. by definition, loveswept is about energy and emotion, following your heart and seeing where that can take you and that is the sentiment that philosophy seeks to achieve.
I could not come up with a better description, philosophy definitely captured the essence of this fragrance with these words but let’s discuss this a little further.
In the city of Seattle and its surrounding areas, today is a very special day. Our beloved Seattle Seahawks are playing in Super Bowl 48, just now taking the field and the 12th Man, a.k.a. the fans, is standing behind our team in full force. I grew up in Seattle and I’ve never seen my city light up like this before and it has even made me, someone far from a football fanatic, get behind the team… and get decked out in Hawk gear from head to toe. You can’t help but get swept up in all this hometown pride!
One way I’ve been all about the Seahawks has been with my nails, I’ve been rocking a little navy blue, white, neon green and a hint a grey for a few weeks now. When Cover Girl invited me to #nailgate with them during the Super Bowl and create my own fanicure, I was completely on board. I played around with some Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant nail polish shades to create some nail art and figure out what I was going to wear on game day today. Granted, my looks are not as amazing as Cover Girl’s look,
When people are preparing to buy luxurious fur items, they usually think about how great that mink vest will look or how many years that shearling coat will stay stylish. Something that most people don’t think twice about is how they will store their fur garment during the portion of the year when they can’t wear it. However, proper care is crucial when you own a fur garment. Here are a few common storage mistakes to steer clear of if you want your furs to look gorgeous and lush for years.
Storing at the Wrong Temperature and Humidity
Most people know that fur needs to be stored in a cool environment — in fact, professional fur storage is refrigerated to between 40 and 50 degrees. Cool temperatures have a preserving effect. However, many people don’t appreciate the fact that the environment also needs to have the right humidity level. You can’t, for instance, store your fur in a normal refrigerator or cooler at home, because the humidity levels are too high. Air conditioning systems like swamp coolers also make the average home humidity level too great for furs. In general, you don’t want humidity above 55 percent, or your garment could rot or mildew.
There’s just no getting around the simple fact that the vast majority of women in the world will never leave the house without makeup on. In a comprehensive survey authorized by well-known Harley Street beauty clinic Specialist Makeup Services, the average British woman will spend around 474 days of her life putting on cosmetics. This further breaks down into three hours and 19 minutes of applying makeup every week. The same survey also revealed that most British women take up to 17 minutes just preparing the eye area. Thankfully, a woman’s makeup routine doesn’t have to be so time-consuming all the time.
Makeup Bingo is a clever variation of Wardrobe Bingo, which is widely hailed as a fantastic solution for getting over style ruts and fashion funks. Instead of clothes, Makeup Bingo players must gather five items from categories such as foundation, lipstick, blush, and eyeliner/mascara/eye shadow. Much like Wardrobe Bingo, the entire point of Makeup Bingo is to occasionally shake things up a bit and maybe discover some surprising combinations. Simply put, it’s supposed to be a fun diversion. This same concept of fun can also be seen in modern-day TV ads from online bingo companies. Leading UK portal, CheekyBingo has even collaborated with the Frontroom creative agency to help the brand stand out through catchy TV ads for their fashion-centric promos and giveaways. Moreover, the same online bingo brand recently gave away £50 shopping vouchers through its Twitter account to lure in the female demographic. They also welcome pictures from their Twitter followers whenever there are celebrity fashion gatherings or followers have engaged in games of Makeup Bingo. The brand, retweets there followers submissions on a daily basis, and sometimes give out prizes for the most lubricious Makeup Bingo pictures.
So if you want to enjoy the game, on the whole, the rules of Makeup Bingo are pretty simple. After assembling all the makeup items from each category, label each item from 1 to 5 (or B-I-N-G-O, if you prefer). Players will then draw numbers (or letters) at random to eventually come up with some startling mashups. All told, Makeup Bingo allows players to look at their cosmetics in a different light.
Lancôme has been on point with its skincare game lately, with its serums in particular. First the amazingness that is Visionnaire and now the new DreamTone, a customized skin tone correcting serum. When DreamTone was first launched, I was definitely curious about it but not for the right reasons. I thought it was a tinted-moisturizer/serum hybrid of sorts since it comes in Fair, Medium and Dark. DreamTone is not a tinted-moisturizer; let’s get that part straight so you don’t make the same assumption I did. I was unsure of which shade to choose because I didn’t understand the product enough. What DreamTone really is, is a powerful serum you can use to target those areas of concern with your skin.
It all starts with the three options offered in Fair, Medium and Dark. Each option targets dark spots and uneven skin tone but each one targets an additional concern. For Fair, DreamTone sets its sight on redness. For Medium, DreamTone combats sallowness. Finally, Dark fights acne and blemish marks. For best results, you should use DreamTone morning and night under your moisturizer of choice.
