While I was in SF this week, I stopped in the Fresh boutique near our hotel. We have nearly everything in Chicago, but we don’t have a free-standing Fresh store. The experience of shopping in store at Fresh is far more luxurious than snagging my goods at the crowded Sephora. I spent about as much time in Fresh as my husband could bear (about 30 min!) I tested the new Rose Cleansing Foam (so rosey – I love it) and googly-eyed all of the holiday gift sets. And then I locked eyes on this sleek yellow tube of Fresh Seaberry Restorative Body Cream. A fan of the Seaberry in the pump bottle, this was an exciting surprise. While I love the bottle, it’s hard to get every last drop out. And when I splurge on a body cream, I want to be able to get every last drop. The smell of this is lovely — neutral but distinct. But it’s what this does to my skin that makes it this week’s Beauty VIP. The formula is so soothing thanks to the powerful antioxidant seabuckthorn oil, omega-rich cranberry seed oil and moisturizing sal seed butter. It’s a powerhouse moisturizer. And the pampering experience of shopping in a Fresh boutique goes unmatched. And worth noting, Fresh harnessed the amazingness of sea buckthorn oil into a new facial oil. It’s curently exclusive to Sephora – check it here.

Vacations are good for the soul. A much necessary break from everything. While Carla was in Vegas for her sister’s wedding, I was in San Francisco. After a day in wine country and a few more spent sightseeing, shopping and eating, my battery is on its way to being recharged. As most vacations go for us beauty girls, we tend to spend quite a bit of time packing our products (usually bringing way too much). Now that I’m back, I can confirm that, once again, that exact scenario happened. Some things will never change. I wanted to give you a glimpse at the makeup I used on vacation and rave about the makeup bag that you need to run to Target to buy immediately. Meet the Sonia Kashuk Completely Organized Bag.
Let me try to quickly breakdown how amazing this bag is. Seriously, I could probably give a 50 minute lecture on the function of this bag. A black nylon makeup bag (the staple of ALL staples) with maroon lining, featuring a front exterior zippered compartment and pouch, two back exterior pouches, an interor with a zippered compartement and SIX side pouches that fit blush, eye palettes, powder and lipstick galore. And it’s $14.99. This bag can do no wrong. I marvel at its wonder. Oh, and it’s only $14.99.
This is a very big week for my family. My sister Vania is getting married on Wednesday in Las Vegas and we are all spending the week there in the sun. In honor of this occasion, I opted for a shade that was outside my usual range and my choice was Butter London’s Two Fingered Salute. What do you think? I’m wearing a bright raspberry dress to the wedding and I’m loving the contrast with the dress and my jewelry.
Normally I am not a fan of copper on my nails but I was in love with Deborah Lippmann’s Ray of Light from the moment I first put it on my nail and I’ve been on the lookout for copper flecks ever since. Now, I’m usually not a fan of greens either but the copper flecks as sage green had me at hello. Unlike Ray of Light, the flecks are super small and give the green a nice gold glow from a distance and great contrast up close. I am now infatuated with this shade, you will be too.
As for the formula, it flowed nicely on the nail and was the perfect consistency making it easy to control as I built on the color. Two coats gave me the color you see here.
So what’s on your nails this week? Let us know in the comments!
The Product Girl team has been major busy as of late. Can’t complain, but sleepless nights, early mornings and a bad diet have been throwing us off of our game. Couple the craze with a shift in temps and my skin started freaking out. Stubborn blemishes and dry patches really put me in a mood. Just a total perfect storm of stress. It was kismet that I was introduced to La Bella Figura and their delicious facial oils a few weeks ago. While I’m still not getting the sleep I crave, my skin is vibrant and glowy and I owe it all to La Bella Figura.
The two oils I’m absolutely treasuring are Tesoro Mediterranean Blend – a godsend to breakout-prone skin – and Découverte Under Eye Repair Serum. The latter is just genius. An oil for your undereye area is brilliant. SO SO SO many healing botanicals to help with tired eyes and facial lines. Look for more than a dozen oils, including pure Barbary fig seed oil (a richer source of vitamin E than even argan oil!), rosehip seed oil, coffee bean oil and rosehip seed oil. I’m living for the stainless steel rollerball, which is both convenient and hygienic.
And, the Tesoro Mediterranean Blend has given my skin a much-needed boost, in addition to curbing those pesky breakouts. If you have oily skin, this is your BFF. Look for bergamot fruit oil, a known antiseptic, organic lemon and grapefruit oils and of course, argan! Skin literally drinks this up. The smell is citrusy and herbal, uplifting and aromatic. Does it get any better than this?
We may be in the beginning of fall but in our neck of the woods, it still feels like summer and we’re rocking beachy waves thanks to Paul Mitchell’s Ultimate Wave. It’s a cream-gel that helps smooth hair while conditioning it and giving it texture, keeping it touchably soft and frizz free. Curious about this wonder cream-gel? Find it at a salon near you.

What to do when your favorite MAC blush gets re-released with the MAC Marilyn Monroe collection? Get excited and tell your friends, of course. The Perfect Cheek is a rather unassuming muted matte pink. When I first got it three years ago from the MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics collection, it was more on name alone. The premise of “The Perfect Cheek” color on a label was almost like a dare I couldn’t resist. Perfection, you say? We’ll see about that. Of all the MAC blushes I have amassed over the years, this muted matte pink is the one I reach for the most. It’s my fail safe impossible to overdo fresh pink blush. The blush I bring on vacations because it goes with everything. And now that it’s available in a sleek Marilyn embossed compact? I love it even more. Don’t miss out, friends.
The new nude lip for fall is not pale and Kim K. circa 2009, but rather, a little earthy and autumnal. It mimics your natural lip color but pulls a little brown. You could say it’s got a touch of the 90s thrown in there. It could be matte, satin or as I prefer, Velvet Gloss-y. Oh, NARS. I’m so devoted to your Velvet Gloss Pencils. The newest addition for fall, More, is an auburn hue. It’s got more than just a touch of the 90s in there – it’s very reminiscent of that era for me. And, I love how it looks on me. I love it even more, though, blended with NARS Velvet Gloss Pencil in Buenos Aires. Together, these two create the perfect new nude lip. It’s fresh, healthy and perfect for the season.
I’ve been cursed with blemishes that will not disappear. There’s three in total. Two on my forehead and one to the left of my lips – same spots, always. No matter how much drying lotion or salicylic acid-based treatment I use, they always come back. And the timing is suspect. These blemishes have cropped up in a perma way these last few months, which have been some of my most busy and stressful. Enter Murad Acne Clarifying Wipes, an on-the-go version of the brand’s renowned acne line. I’ve been using these wipes for a few weeks and am finding these stubborn blemishes are going away faster.
These wipes aren’t a traditional cleansing wipe, and I like to use them on clean skin once a day. They have this phenomenal cooling sensation on the skin and make me feel like my skin is truly clean (not stripped, though). Look for witch hazel (a natural form of salicylic acid) to tighten pores, algae extract to regulate oil and grape seed extract and vitamin E.
I’m hoping with regular use and a trip to see a professional for extractions, I can finally get rid of these pests once and for all.
Murad Clarifying Wipes just launched last month, $18 for 30-count. Available here.
