I gave up on eyeshadow this summer, everything simply slides off my lids in a few hours anyhow. I have not given up on lip color though and I never will. That would be a crime against beauty! These YSL Glossy Stains are not new but I am hopelessly addicted to them and try to convert everyone I know to them.
The good news is that I have been successful on more than a few occasions with converts but the bad news is that I want them all. For awhile I couldn’t set foot in Nordstrom or Sephora without picking one up.
With makeup meltdown being the name of the game right now, these YSL Glossy Stains have been my summer staple. There is at least one in my purse or makeup bag at all times. They have helped keep my lips on point through days spent at the pool and warm summer nights.
The name definitely says it all, these are glossy stains. They glide on the lips like a slick lip gloss but have the pop of pigment and staying power of a stain. I love how cushion-ey they feel in my lips at first, that feeling goes away but the shine sticks around for hours. Same goes for the color on your lips, it remains as bright as when you applied it hours ago. They also feel nice and light on the lips, not heavy like a layer of product you can’t get rid of. My sister recently said “they don’t feel like Saran Wrap on your lips!” I could not agree more.

Ever buy the same shade of something over and over again? I recently organized all my bottles of nail polish and realized I had picked up the same Essie nail polish three times… and those were not the only dupes in my stash. I feel this way about these Glossy Stains, I can barely remember which shades I have when I go out. I’ve already purchased two shades twice, good thing I realized it before using it and was able to make an exchange. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this? I may or may not be working on a spreadsheet to prevent this in the future. 🙂
YSL’s Glossy Stains retail for $32 each you can find them at any YSL counter. Make sure you check out the Nordstrom exclusive shade #13 and Sephora exclusive shade #20 as well!
Are you a Glossy Stain addict? What’s your favorite shade? Let’s discuss this important business in the comments.
Corail Aquatique is right up my alley, and I’ve been considering buying it for a while. I really love this shade!
Lulle, you will love them! 🙂
I am going to have to try these.
Hey Gabrielle! When you try these, let me know what you think!
Speaking as a loyal convert, I now own 3 of these and love them. Thank you Carla!
It’s a bad addiction, isn’t it? 🙂
Those look so pretty. The more I see them on blogs, the more it makes me need to check these out in person. Number 15 on your arm may just work for me.
Marcia, if you try just one of these shades, I think you’ll be hooked! 🙂
Dying over orange de chine for a while…may be getting it soon, though! woohoo!
Hey Olivia! If you’re all about the orange, you need this shade! The coral one is a good in-between as well.
These have also been one of my favorites this summer. I do use a gloss over them because I find the finish wears off.
Thanks for the comment Teri! I’m not much of gloss girl or I’d totally do that, I’m more of a stain girl. 🙂
