When I want something, I will go anywhere I need to go in order to get it. Patience is not one of my virtues. I wouldn’t admit this to just anyone but since we have bonded over beauty products, I’ll tell you. After going to two other stores, I once drove 49 miles each way for an Armani foundation. I hunted down Valentina’s Home Brewed Pure Body Care Perfume Oil in True Love in much the same way over the course of the last few months.
Every time I would try to buy this perfume, every other fragrance would be in stock but True Love. It eluded me for months, and apparently a lot of other gals. It wasn’t until a random stop at Whole Foods on Christmas Eve for a centerpiece that I finally found it. We’ve been inseparable ever since. Isn’t that how it always goes? You find what you want when you least expect it. What I didn’t expect was how much I’d love the whole Valentina’s Home Brewed Pure Body Care line.
This relatively new to me, perhaps to you too. I noticed it in a local natural grocery store at the end of October and before long, it was in Whole Foods. Slowly but surely, more of the line crept into the store. First it was the body wash, then the body oil and before long the perfume oil was on display along with bath salts, salt scrub and body mist.
Valentina’s Home Brewed also has six other fragrances in its line like Prosperity (a blend of anise, bergamot and geranium) and Sunny Outlook (a blend of mandarin, lemon and ginger), all great fragrances on their own. Aside from a great variety of fragrances, this green line is also really affordable. How often do you see a good perfume oil for $12.99? I think we can all agree that the answer is “not often”. 😉
I had been obsessing over fragrances with chocolate notes for awhile (hello Montale Chocolate Greedy! I still want a bottle of you) but it never occurred to me to combine that chocolate note with a floral note. I was going for a sexy, woody, chocolate cupcake vibe until I smelled this perfume oil.
When I smelled True Love for the first time, I was instantly hooked because it is a gorgeous scent. The main notes are cardamon, chocolate and rose in a coconut oil and jojoba oil base. It is also sulfate, phthalate and phosphate free. The result is a bright, almost powdery chocolate rose that has just a touch of spice to it. Dare I say uplifting?
The perfume wears well on my skin, I get about 4 hours worth of wear out of it before I feel the need to re-apply. In terms of sillage, it doesn’t seem to wrap you up in its own cloud, it wears somewhat close to the skin. This is not the kind of perfume oil that announces itself before you do, which I like with some scents, True Love being one of them. When I roll it over my hands and apply it to my hair and clothes, the fragrance lasts all day. I can only imagine how much better the wear would be by layering it with the body wash, body oil and body mist. I’ll have the answer to that soon. 😉
The perfume oils retail at $12.99 for a 0.50oz bottle and $21.00 for a 1oz. bottle with a dropper. This would be perfect to blend into your favorite lotion or for taking a few drops for your bath. I’m definitely picking up more of Valentina’s other fragrances considering how affordable they are. I don’t remember a bad scent in the bunch! So what was your last perfume obsession?
