The new Stila Natural Eye Shadow Palette is one of my favorites for fall. The first thing that came to mind when I got my hands on it was that this is practically Stila’s answer to Urban Decay’s Naked palette. While it doesn’t have as many shades, it is still a good response and in someways, better.
The shades in this palette are Bare (matte ivory), Kitten (shimmering nude pink), Bliss (matte nude), Sunset (copper shimmer), Sandstone (matte neutral brown), Champagne (pale gold shimmer), Gilded Gold (bronze with gold shimmer), Luster (deep gray with gold shimmer), Night Sky (slate blue with silver shimmer) and Ebony (matte black). The palette also comes with a full sized Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel (matte chocolate brown) and a look book with tips and tricks. This palette has a good neutral range of eye shadows and a few shades to kick things up a notch.
This palette is exactly what I have some to expect from Stila over the years. The eyeshadows are soft and creamy to the touch, they are well pigmented and easy to work with. I did not have any fallout issues when I played with the shimmery shades and I expected to. I’m always impressed with the lightest tap of my fingers or brush picks up plenty of shadow to work with.
As for the shades themselves, of course it wouldn’t be a palette without Kitten in it and I’m glad Stila included it here, it is my go-to highlighter in this palette. They also included matte shades in Bare, Bliss and Sandstone that work beautifully as basic all over lid colors for every skin tone. For paler gals like me, this is also a neutral eye trifecta! These are perfect shades to create a softly defined eye. If you want a more defined bolder look, this palette can handle that too. I’m crushing on Sunset and Night Sky to deliver the drama, particularly Night Sky. While it comes across blue in swatches, it is actually leans more to the gray side thanks to the shimmer.
When I was sent this palette, I was asked to create a look with it and this is what I came up with, I like to call it “Neutral Smoke”. Ignore my unruly brows, mama has an appointment on Friday to resolve this situation.
In my look, I used Bare all over my lower lid then used a combination of Bliss and Sandstone to define my crease, as well as a little Sandstone under my lower lashes. Then I added in a Night Sky and Ebony in the outer V. I finished it off with a little Kitten on my brow bone and upper lid. What do you think?
