The Halo Effect

The other day I was catching up on my DVR recordings and I was watching the 3 hour beauty show on QVC. I realized that QVC is becoming much more relevant in the world of beauty and have started to offer exclusive products way before they hit retail shelves. This product is a good example of this.

smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Face Powder with Brush#29 This is Smashbox’s Halo Hydrating Perfecting Face Powder in Fair. It is a pressed powder that converts to a loose powder with the help of a built in shaver that produces loose powder on demand. It also includes a handy brush for application. What’s unique about the sale of this product is that QVC customers get first dibs. If you place an advance order now, you save over 35% of the retail cost and you get long before it hits the shelves in 2008. Interesting… right?

This product is also a little different because it’s meant to give skin a glowing, hydrated look. It features Gogi-berry, an antioxidant, and is infused with encapsulated water. The idea is that this powder will not settle into lines. While I didn’t order it, I’m very intrigued by this product. I’d love to see what kind of coverage it gives as a foundation.

  1. I’m intrigued by this as well, but before I shell out $60 for face powder I want to see the colors, at least. QVC has no swatches available for this product.

  2. That’s the unfortunate thing. They have 4 shades and I’m wondering how well they’ll match skin. But QVC is known to not carry a good array of shades. This may be something Smashbox will have more of when it really goes retail.

  3. I blogged about QVC’s Beauty Newsmakers show too. I never watch QVC, yet my eyes were glued to the screen Saturday night.

The model who demonstrated the Smashbox Face Powder really looked hydrated, right? But I was concerned that there’s only 4 shades of the powder. I think the lack of colors realy alienates some women.

I wanted to buy everything they were selling on that special, so I had to restrain myself. I’ll probably visit the site later and treat myself.
