Schick Hydro Silk, Seven Years in the Making

What were you doing seven years ago? Me, I was living in Washington, DC and enjoying my first “real” job out of college. Not yet married, but dating my now husband. Schick? They were designing the next best thing in razors — the Schick Hydro Silk™, launching at the end of the month.

After seven years of testing, Schick says they have made the shaving experience better. This is welcome news. Razors have come a long way. My young nieces will likely never know the hacking my knees and ankles suffered. (I have bad vision — shower without contacts on. Mistakes happen(ed). I don’t want to talk about it.)

I’m hoping after a few more months with the Tria, I won’t have to use this on my underarm or bikini line, but my legs see a lot of razor time, especially in the summer. I’ve been using the Hydro Silk for a while now, and wanted to share my thoughts.

Schick infused this razor with a moisturizing serum that activates with water to prevent skin from being stripped of essential moisture and the resulting irritation. It sports five blades that curve and deliver a close shave. This is very noticeable to me (being a “blind” shaver and all). The design is also very ergonomic. I tend to drop my razors a lot (too many oil-based products + blind showering – I’M A MESS!) and then the blade falls off and I have to reconnect the cartridge. That doesn’t happen here. It’s so easy to hold on to and weighs next to nothing.

And the best part is we have razors to giveaway so you can try, too! Leave us a comment and we’ll email you with a unique link where you can sign up for a free Schick Hydro Silk. And if you have a case of the shower klutzies, please let us know (it will make me feel better!)

  17. my issue is not so much shower klutzies.. but I tend to be in a hurry when I shave my legs, maybe because I hate doing it and get knicks all the time… this sounds like it would make shaving much more enjoyable!

  18. I haven’t checked your blog in a few days so hope I didn’t miss this. I’d love to try this and see if it beats gilettes Venus!

  20. Hi I would love to try the new schick razor, I am also a blind shaver and I have HORRIBLE ASTIGMATISM! so I know where your coming from. I am also curious for the January update about the Tria Hair removal system, hows it working so far?

  21. I currently use the Venus Spa Breeze and although it does me well I LOVE the concept of cream-free shaving and would love to compare Schick’s version up against my current razor.

  22. I’d love to try this new razor, given that my venus razor leaves me bleeding everytime i shave my legs -_-

  23. I use the venus embrace and I do not like it but I bought too many replacement blades and those are expensive so I have to use it until those run out. Would love to try this one!
