This week I’m wearing OPI’s Anti-Bleak, a shade from the Mariah Carey collection. This collection features eight shades, including one glitter and four new “Liquid Sand” shades, but this is the shade I gravitated towards immediately…being a sucker for cremes and all. I’ll have more on the rest of the collection soon but for now, I’m having an Anti-Bleak moment. This rich, deep, creamy purple is just so gorgeous. I didn’t have any issues with the formula, it was great and easy to work with, no dragging and totally opaque in two coats. Next phase of this Anti-Bleak moment is layering it with some various glitters but for now, I’m enjoying this shade in its simplicity.
I also tested Anti-Bleak along with Deborah Lippmann’s new Gel Lab duo, her new system promising a healthier alternative to gel manicures with easy removal, a high gloss finish and longer wear. The duo consists of her Coat of Arms base coat and Shining Armor top coat.
So far, I have mixed feelings about this system. It is pricey so I expected to be blown away by it. Not the case… it does dry quickly, I will give it that, but I don’t see the cushiness of a gel manicure on my nails. I see a nice shine, but not a high-gloss finish. I can’t speak on the wear just yet but I’ll have more to say on that next week. I do like the easy removal premise but really, I have a hard time with the price point here. It could be my application, I haven’t ruled that out entirely but I really think the price point is a bit high here.
So what nail polish shade is gracing your nails this week? Have you seen the Mariah Carey collection? And was I the only one watching the Miss America pageant on Saturday night being thrown off by Miss Iowa (who’s name is Mariah Cary)?
