Ten or Less: NYC Smooch Proof 16 Hour Lip Stain

I’m a little late to the NYC Smooch Proof 16 Hour Lip Stain party but I have finally arrived! It makes this Product Girl very happy to see more drugstore brands come up with lip stains. Sure, Cover Girl and Revlon have done them already but a lip stain you can get for under $5 is worth writing home about.  I was happy to see NYC have a nude brown shade in the bunch and one would think that I would head straight for it but in this case, my first pick was Persistent Pink. This is a great “your lips but better” shade and is just GORGEOUS with Pacifica’s Coconut Pearls Luminizing Lip Quench. The lip balm is like a luminizer for your lips that moisturizes and the light, long wearing pop of pink on the lips are magic together. I love the felt tip delivery here, my favorite in a lip stain, because I can line my lips with the tip and fill in with the side. This definitely did not come even close to the 16 hour mark in terms of wear but I don’t even mind that because I love the price so much… makes it easier for me to snag the rest of these!

  1. This is under $5?!! Definitely looking for it on my next trip to the store. I only wear stains now…ever since I had braces in 8th & 9th grade, all other lipsticks get on my teeth no matter what I do (except the other long-wear kinds, but I don’t love how those dry on your lips and sometimes crack). But even the lipstain sometimes betrays me 🙁

How pigmented is this? I do NOT settle for sheer, hahah. I like a pin-up look, so I want my lips bright and saturated.

    1. Hey nail polish friend! I’ve heard in some places you can get them for as low as $3 so it is definitely worth the price. It depends on the shade. I picked up a few of the lighter shades but I’m willing to bet the darker shades will give you the color payoff you’re looking for.

      1. Good to know! And I suppose for $5, I won’t mind too much if it ends up not being as saturated as I prefer!

          1. Aww, I was at Walmart today (the only place in town I know of that carries the NYC line) and these were nowhere to be found. It did not surprise me, however, as this particular store only has an NYC display about a foot wide. I suppose I’ll have to hope that these end up in the core line or whatever and eventually get stocked.
