New! NARS Summer 2011 Collection

NARS Summer 2011 Collection sure feels like a summer collection, and I am loving the preview. NARS presents a range of warm, elegant, shimmering shades with vivid shots of color. Lips are mandarin and hot pink, and nails are bold in sunflower yellow or opaque white. Yes, this is a collection that could only come from NARS. Let’s take a closer look.

Cap Ferrat Trio Eyeshadow - Inspired by the Alpes-Maritimes region in southeastern France, this trio eyeshadow of sea blues—icy sea foam, silver green, and icy turquoise—delivers a cool wash of color to lids.

Exotic  Dance Duo Eyeshadow – A well choreographed pairing of metallic white with silver sheen and metallic gold, creates a dazzling duo eyeshadow. Wear them alone or layered for an intense mixed metal look.

Dogon Duo Eyeshadow  – Named for the Mali-based culture, this metallic taupe (with icy green sheen!) and charcoal black duo eyeshadow delivers an unexpected twist on an otherwise neutral color combo. Blend the lighter shade from lashes to brow and smudge the darker hue in the crease and along lashes for added impact. When blended together, the shades create an iridescent green cast on the charcoal hue.

Queen Soft Touch Shadow Pencil – This modern citrus gold glitter pencil is regal, easy, portable and long-wearing. Swipe it on lids and blend with a fingertip. Use as a liner, a highlighter or a base for powder shadows.

Bolero Velvet Matte Lip Pencil – Grab your castanets. This pink cantaloupe, velvet matte lip pencil is as subtly suggestive as the seductive, slow-tempo Latin music after which it’s named.

Wonder Lip Gloss – This shiny, sheer mandarin orange lip gloss is laced with pink and gold shimmer for a pop of citrusey color. Top it over other lip colors for a shinier look with added depth.

Carthage Pure Matte Lipstick – Named for the string of cities that line the Gulf of Tunis, this matte, hot pink hue saturates lips with rich, bold color.

Mayflower Lipstick – This sheer raspberry lipstick, delivers subtle color with a shimmery finish. It’s the perfect complement to a bold eye.

New Order Highlighting Blush – A soft pink blush, with gold and silver shimmer, highlights cheeks with the softest hint of radiant color.

Kismet Nail Polish – Fate, destiny, a predetermined course of events. This metallic sunflower nail polish was simply meant to be.

Écume Nail Polish – An opaque white nail enamel that is at once vintage-inspired and avant-garde in sensibility.

What do you guys think? Anything standing out? I am all loving all of the lip products! I’m borderline obsessed with the Pure Matte formula, and feel that that Carthage will be perfect for a bold look this summer. It appears that I’m on the same page as Francois himself. When asked what products a woman should never be without this summer, he said, “Cap Ferrat Trio Eyeshadow! It’s subtle, but sexy, and gives you a season’s worth of eye looks. Carthage Pure Matte Lipstick is also great –the hot pink color is so fresh and the matte texture is unexpected for summer.”

Let us know what you’ve got your eye on!

love these colors, but i am still on the fence about the Velvet Matte pencils…do they feel creamy on the lips? Whats your opinion of these in general Laurie?

    • Laurie says:

Hi Robin, Both Carla and I are huge fans of the Velvet Matte (Carla especially loves all of the reds!). But it’s not a creamy formula – I’d actually call it a silky matte. They’re not drying, but it’s important that you have a moisturized, flake-free lip before using so you don’t accentuate any dryness. Sometimes I layer over a balm for a creamier consistency — they’re very easy to layer with.

  2. I hope the Queen soft shadow pencil doesn’t crease like Hollywoodland did! I really want a look at Wonder gloss!

I really want Carthage too! Also probably Bolero, Mayflower and New Order!

Cap Ferrat is what stuck out to me when I first saw this collection. I have to make her mine.
