Ten or Less: Maybelline's "The Falsies" Mascara

Yesterday, I was in a meeting at work and something great – yet unexpected — happened. Someone asked me “Do you have new lashes? They are so long?”  It was a thrilling moment in my day. My response, “They’re all mine — courtesy of Maybelline “The Falsies.” It actually probably went something like this…”Really…you think? Thank you! You must try this mascara! You can have these lashes too!”

I thought that the only drugstore mascara I would ever really love and repurchase was Cover Girl LashBlast, but Maybelline has caught me by surprise. The “secret sauce” if you will is a patented spoon brush with Kera-fiber formula that builds volume (8x they claim!) without clumping. Unlike other Maybelline formulas, this does not flake off and it truly gives me full and long lashes. So much so that it caught the attention of my client!

The Falsies is a fabulous “ten or less” find – I bought this at CVS on sale for about $6. Has anyone else tried this? Are you digging the spoon brush? Let us know!

  1. LOVE this mascara! I have relatively long lashes anyway but I have blonde hair. So this mascara really makes them super black, thick, and long. I always get asked if I’m wearing false lashes and I actually have NEVER worn them out!

  2. I like the effect the mascara gives. Quite a bit, it’s good stuff. But in execution and daily use – I had 2 issues.
    1. For whatever reason, I can’t seem to get to the base of my lashes without massive smudging on my lids. Probably technique – but it seriously shouldn’t be that hard. I tried for a month!
    2. I have super oily lids, and this smudged onto my lids (above the crease) by about mid-day. With or without lid primer. This is my gotcha with mascaras. If they do this – they’re out. I don’t like looking smudgy.

  3. I’ve heard a lot of buzz around The Falsies. Sounds so fab. But like Kimber, I have super oily lids. Does it come in a waterproof version? That is the only kind that will work/last on me….

  4. I’ve had very good luck with this mascara–probably better than most of the department store brands I’ve tried. It gives my puny lashes a boost and I feel good when I wear it! I alternate this one with Mally Roncal’s Volumizing Mascara, which also works well for me, but not as cheap!

  5. I am currently using Falsies and I Blogged about it as well. For the price, it’s really unbeatable and I love how easy it is to remove. I have been using it Falsie for one or two coats and then using LOreal’s Telescopic, (with the round ball), to pull out any lashes that need a to be pulled out and lengthened. Together, it’s been working for me!

    Best,
    Debbi

  6. Can you talk a little about the texture of the mascara? I LOVE Lash Blast, and like you right now think I’ll never buy another drugstore mascara that’s not Last Blast. But I’d definitely try this if the texture were right. I find that drier formulas work so much better for me to get volume and avoid clumping. Is this wetter or drier? Pretty easy to work with overall? Thanks!

  7. Jane and Kimber — there is a waterproof version! I haven’t tried it since the regular is fab for me — but you should try!

Debbi — great tip with the Telescopic. I will have to try that!

  8. I purchased Maybelline” The Falsies” mascara because I was searching for a new mascara that would make my eyelashes appear longer and fuller. This mascara definitely did that and more. The curved brush is easy to work with and curls your lashes while lengthening them as well. I have gotten so many compliments wearing this mascara and I will continue to buy it. Since it produces such great results and it is a reasonable price for a drugstore mascara, I recommend everyone to buy it.
