Fresh off her collaboration with Target, Cos Bar founder and CEO Lily Garfield is letting us take a peek inside her makeup bag. If you’re unfamiliar with the Cos Bar, it’s a high end store that carries the best in beauty including makeup, skincare, fragrance, bath and body and tools and accessories. It’s the kind of place beauty gals like us would feel right at home in. The first store opened over 25 years ago in Aspen, Colorado but since then has grown to include 12 stores in 8 different states. Can we get one in Seattle please? 😉
Lily is a discerning customer and she chooses products based on their results so let’s take a look at what’s inside her makeup bag in her own words.
These are the basics, because it’s all about the eyes, lips and a little, the cheeks. This is also a perfect assortment if going on a weekend trip…you’ll be ready to go!
I’m a lipstick nut, but I’m always losing them, and often feel I need to trade out colors for different occasions. So I keep an array – for daytime vs. nighttime, working, golfing or skiing. So I keep in the bag: NARS’ “Orgasm”, Chanel’s “Spark”, By Terry’s “Gold Digger”, Bobbi Brown’s “Tea Rose Tint” lip gloss with SPF 15, and then also Laura Mercier’s lip conditioner.
For quick touch ups during the daytime, my favorite inner eyeliner pencil is the Noir color by Chanel. I also carry my mascara for touchup, of course! In my bag is one by Gurerlain, with a mirror included. And my favorite concealer – for under eyes or spot treatment – is Clé de Peau Beauté, in the color Ocher.
Eyebrows do a simple but important job, they frame your face, so I always keep them touched up. Wearing a hat or not…they always frame what is going on beneath. I like using a brush instead of a pencil, for a more natural look. Laura Mercier provides my eyebrow powder of choice—brown and black in one compact—and I use an Instant Brow Brush by Claudia Riaz…one of the best brushes out there.
I carry two different blushers, one that’s more neutral for daytime, and then one if I need a little more intensity at night. My more neutral choice is the Bobbi Brown cream gel; I love the cream because I don’t have to worry about applying it with a brush. And a beautiful La Prairie blush serves my other needs.
But let’s not ignore the scent! Finally, I always have on hand my signature fragrance, in a small half ounce, always with a vanilla base. In my bag right now is Vanilla Insensee by Atelier Cologne.
And of course, my cosmetic bag is from Cos Bar at Target! I love to have a fun bag to carry everything!
I love what’s in Lily’s makeup bag and I’m totally intrigued by the Vanilla Insensee perfume, I have Orange Sanguine from Atelier and love it so I’m sure Vanilla Insensee is great. I think I need to try that La Prairie blush, I’ve heard great things about it in the past so I think I just need to bite the bullet and try it.
