What's in Her Makeup Bag with Nordstrom's Laksmi Sam

Today we’re taking a peek at Laksmi Sam’s makeup bag. She is a regional beauty director for Nordstrom based in the Midwest. Like every Nordstrom gal I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, Laksmi knows her stuff! In addition to beauty, Laksmi has spent some time in fragrance as a buyer so she knows what’s hot and what’s next in the world of fragrance. One of her picks for spring and summer that she told me about when I met her is actually in her makeup bag.

Let’s take a look at what’s inside her makeup bag in her own words.

MAC Prep & Prime SPF 50 – This is my foundation primer, right after I moisturize. I love it because it makes my makeup last longer, my foundation goes on smoother, and I have to touch up less throughout the day. I also love the extra SPF benefits!

YSL Touche Éclat in #3 – A cult favorite that is the perfect highlighter. Great for under the eyes, on the inner corners of the eyes (wakes you right up!), and down the bridge of your nose.

MAC Studio Fix – I brush it on for the perfect amount of coverage. It’s great for my combination skin, since it helps to keep my skin matte. When I need a bit more coverage, I use the sponge it comes with.

MAC Eye Brows Pencil in Lingering – Your brows should never be darker than your hair color, and this is a universal shade, whether you’re a blond or brunette. It adds a soft definition to the brows without being too harsh.

Anastasia Brow Gel in Clear – This tames my brows and they instantly look more groomed.

NARS Eye Shadow in Mekong – Perfect for creating a bronze smoky eye look. My favorite thing to do is add it to the outer corners of my eyes for instant drama. Perfect for taking a day look into night.

Lancôme Faux Cils Mascara Base – Preps and conditions the lashes and makes them look fuller and thicker with mascara.

Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Black – This mascara lengthens, separates, and offers the right amount of thickness. Doesn’t smudge or flake, and wears all day.

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer #20 – Adds a healthy glow to the face without being too brown or orange.

Bobbi Brown Blush in Peony – The perfect pop of color for the apples of your cheeks. It instantly perks up your face with some flirty color.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lipstick in Blush Nude – To balance out the smoky eye, you’ve got to have a nude lip and this is perfect. Great color pay-off with a nice creamy texture.

Chanel Glossimers in 119 (a great pinky nude) and 85 (a champagney nude-pink) – Great to layer on top of lipstick because it adds some dimension to the lips.

Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray -Gives the perfect amount of hold with flexibility—without leaving hair stiff or crunchy. I can use it in the morning and it holds my style all day. All I need is a quick refresher after work to take me into the evening!

Laura Mercier Crème Brûlée Hand Crème – Really moisturizes my hands when they’re dry and absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy finish. The scent is heavenly!

Le Petite Flowerbomb – The perfect size to carry around in my purse. It’s one of my favorite fragrances and I usually spritz it on when I leave the office, right before I head out to meet friends for a social outing.

I love how well put together this makeup bag is but of course that is to be expected of a beauty director, right? Any of the Laksmi’s picks in your makeup bag? I totally get behind the Tom Ford lipstick, I have that shade and love it, makes me excited to see the rest of his line. Also, I think I officially need to get on the Flowerbomb train now.

We’ll be taking a look at another Nordstrom gal’s makeup bag soon but in the meantime, let us know who’s makeup bag you would like to see. We’re working on featuring Maureen Kelly from Tarte, Josie Maran and Deborah Lippmann so we’re excited about those but are working on bringing you more.
