Chicago welcomed its second freestanding Kiehl’s boutique with the opening of its new Midwest Flagship store on Michigan Avenue. The grand opening was this past weekend, and I stopped by to check it out and also got a few minutes to chat with Kiehl’s President on his favorite products and what’s in store for 2012.
First off, the store is unbelievably cool. High ceilings, a photo booth, exposed brick and obviously a great location – the North Bridge shops near Nordstrom.
I asked Kiehl’s President Chris Salgardo (@ChrisAtKiehls on Twitter, do you follow?) about his favorite things. Hearing him talk about the brand was very exciting, and the man’s skin and hair is phenom. I definitely wanted to know his secrets. He broke it down for me by hair, skin and body. For the past 25 years, he’s been using Crème with Silk Groom. “It’s like moisturizer for your hair,” Chris raves. On his face, Chris is a huge fan of Rosa Arctica. (Sidenote: so are we — read our review!) He spoke to me about the innovative technology used in the product. As for body care, Chris affirmed that it’s Crème de Corps all the way, nodding to the large bottle standing next to us!
As for new products, Chris informed me of a new innovation coming our way in January 2012 aimed at evening out skin tone. Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective serum will feature a special molecule and Vitamin C, and will brighten and correct uneven skin tone in just 8 weeks. Clearly Corrective will retail for $49.
For any of my fellow Chi-town peeps, stop by the Kiehl’s boutique on your next trip downtown!
