My friend and personal authority on everything nails, Michelle Mismas from All Lacquered Up, just launched her A Pair Affair by All Lacquered Up Finger Paints collection with Sally Beauty and I just had to run out and get it. Michelle has taken us behind the scenes of this collection and showed swatches of each of the six shades. The collection just launched yesterday in stores and online, each bottle retails for $5.29.
Normally, I’m not one for attempting my own nail art. I prefer to admire from afar and wish I could make my nails look that good…I’m still working on perfecting my at-home mani! After reading about these two shades; You Yacht to Know Better and Sarong So Right, I decided to give it a try. I got serious! I bought all kinds of scissors to cut tape into patterns, hole punchers, brushes and dotting tools. I haven’t used them yet but I am inspired.
These shades are gorgeous and both are unique additions to the Product Nail nail color vault, I don’t own a single shade like You Yacht To Know Better.
Sarong So Right is a coral jelly with glitter. The formula for this shade is a little thick but it is also really pigmented. Two coats of it, my typical thick coats, and I had full coverage in all its glory where other jellies would require 3, maybe even 4 coats to get the look I want. This shade does have a textured finish due to the glitter but Michelle suggest using a top coat and it evens it out like a charm.
As for You Yacht to Know Better, it is a dark blue shimmer with bright blue glitter. It makes me think of a sail boat gliding along in the darkness with stars shinning brightly above it. Forgive the sappiness here but it really is a beautiful shade, Michelle really created something special with this one. Two coats of this gal and I was good to go. This is one shade I may need back ups of.
For this look, I took Sarong So Right and applied it to my whole nail. Once it was dry, I painted the corners with two coats of You Yacht To Know Better. Finally I added a dash of Hip Hip Hue-Ray! diving both shades. It is not perfectly clean but it’s not bad for a first attempt. Next time I’ll skip the white.
So what’s on your nails this week?
