When I was with family over the holidays, my cousin’s six-year old daughter was wearing a pair of pajamas with the phrase “glitter is my favorite color.” Had she not been six, I would totally have snatched those pjs and worn them myself. Instead, I’ve adopted the phrase as my motto this week. How could it not be with this cray-mazing nail polish, Essie A Cut Above. If you’ve yet to check out Essie’s Luxeffect Glitter Topcoat collection, DO IT before you miss out on this. I am so captivated by this polish. I feel like such a girl, but with an edge.
The glitter flecks are different sizes, so layering it on created a cool effect. I started with a base coat (Zoya), followed by one coat of Deborah Lippmann Naked (optional) and three coats of A Cut Above. I didn’t drag the brush over the nail, rather just patted it on to ensure the glitter didn’t get swept away. The glitter in A Cut Above is housed in a clear base, so to get this effect you have to be a little strategic with placement. I followed it with a coat of Seche Vite, and now I’m in love. While removing glitter polish is not on my list of favorite things to-do, this is so worth it.
