This week I wanted something a little darker on my nails after the Easter egg confetti fest that was last week’s mani, I guess it is a reflection of my mood lately, dark and angsty. Normally I am not a dark grey metallic gal so this is not a color I would typically go for but something about it just feels right. I wanted to go with a grey but want some flash to go along with it so I chose Dior’s NY 57th for my nails this week, it is from the Dior Gris City collection.
These Dior polishes include a new wider brush like Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon manicure polishes, which I appreciate because I am a little messy when I do my nails, if you have not noticed by now. That’s ok though, within a few days, it looks just fine. 🙂 What I wish was a little different in this formula was that it had a more glossy finish to it, it seems to dry a bit flat. I remedied that with my top coat but otherwise I liked the application of this formula. Two coats gave me the color in the bottle and when I went back to correct some mistakes, it leveled out nicely. Looking down at my nails now, I really like this shade. It doesn’t read goth to me, instead it’s dark, sophisticated chic.
The Gris City collection also includes Bond Street (a dark blue grey) and Gris Montaigne (a classic dark grey) as seen above. Bond Street and NY 57th are exclusive to Dior.com but you can find Gris Montaigne in stores like Sephora and Nordstrom. Check Nordstrom out as they also have Dior’s spring collection counterpart Pink Boa.
I do have a confession to make, a friend and I have been toying with the idea of mixing our own nail polish shades. I’m starting to acquire some cheap creme shades for mixing and now I’m to looking for glitters and other pigments to play with. I am starting to get a little excited about this. I’ll fill you in on this when I have something to present. What is on your nails this week? Tell us about it in the comments.
