The makeup on Dior counters may be all about fall but Dior fragrance is living in the now… Still in time for summer, they launched their newest fragrance, Dior Escale Aux Marquises, the third fragrances in the Dior “Escale” line. Previous fragrances include Pondichery and Portofino. This new fragrance is meant to evoke the feeling of an escape to the tropical islands of French Polynesia (wouldn’t that be nice??) and has notes of blood orange essence, Tahitian tiare flower absolute, vanilla absolute and pink pepper extract in it.
When I smelled this fragrance for the first time, I was instantly reminded of sunshine and a nice cool breeze… that always comes to mind when I smell what I think is orange blossom or neroli, it is such a sweet and refreshing fragrance. In this case I was wrong, it was the blood orange and tiare flower notes I was smelling with a hint of pink pepper, this makes for a very crisp and breezy opening. As the fragrance wears, much of the floral and citrus notes seem to go away and it leaves me with a musky vanilla, making it tanning oil portion of the tropical escape.
Since I’m now a fan of this fragrance, it makes me wonder what Pondichery and Portofino smell like. I’m definitely going to hunt them down and see. In the meantime, you can find Dior Escale Aux Marquises exclusively at Nordstrom for $66.00 for 2.5oz and $87.00 for 4.25oz.
Tomorrow I’ll be mentioning a few of my other favorite fragrances for summer. What are yours? Let us know in the comments.
