This week’s manicure came about when I was playing around with my family this weekend. I spent the sunny Saturday afternoon in my mom’s backyard swatching makeup and nail polish. It was great, I got a ton done but I didn’t intend on putting this China Glaze Crackle on. It’s only when I saw my teenage sister doing it that I got envious.
I started by applying the new Mark fuchsia from their new nail polish duo (more on that later, it’s really cute) without really trying to be neat about it since I was in a bit of a rush. I figured that would lend itself to the crackle effect anyhow. Then I applied China Glaze’s Crackle in Fault Line. It seemed much thicker than their regular formulas which made it a little tricky to apply but it leveled out well on the nail. Within minutes, the crackling effect started to appear. Fault Line dried down a little dull but one coat of Seche Vite on top and its metallic qualities came back to life.
I love how bold this combination is together but next time I’m going to try something brighter underneath to make the crackle really pop, maybe some yellow so I can be sporting some University of Washington Husky style nails. Have you tried a crackle top coat yet? What have you paired it with? Inquiring minds want to know.
