Beauty VIP of the Week: Chantecaille Sea Turtle Palette

Chantecaille has been releasing a series of lemming worthy palettes with each new collection over the past few years and this Chantecaille Sea Turtle palette is the latest one causing a stir. Anyone remember the Macaroon, Bengali and Tigers in the Wild palettes? I wanted them all… then again I want everything from Chantecaille. This is one of those brands that has always been a bit out of reach for me, much like Cle de Peau and Le Metier de Beaute, because I’ve been reluctant to give in to their prices but there comes a point in a beauty addict’s life where she just has to give in a little, and I’m starting to bit by bit. I was going to save this palette for a reward I wanted to give myself for my progress on Nutrisystem but I couldn’t wait, I caved in.

This palette has 3 eyeshadows and 1 blush and it is refillable, you can pop out the pans and refill the palette with eyeshadows or blushes as Chantecaille’s blush pans are the same size as their eyeshadows. The turtle print on each shade is an overlay, sadly I’ve already worked my way through my turtles. The shades in this palette are versatile enough for a neutral everyday look or a more dramatic smokey eye.

The base shade in the palette is a soft golden beige, even though I love the palette, this shade gives me a slight bit of pause. It is a little sheerer than I would like. I could be the only one who thinks this though, I have not see anyone else mention this. I LOVE the  the eye color is a warm satiny brown, with my skin tone it is fantastic in the crease to define my eyes without looking too made up. The eye definer shade a deep sea green that makes a great smokey eye. It comes off a little gunmetal here in my swatch but it is a green. Finally the blush is a shimmery peach that reminds me of NARS Orgasm. I haven’t worn Orgasm in a long time but I don’t remember it making my cheeks glow like this. The first time I wore it I kept turning my head to the side to catch a bit of the shimmer on my cheekbones. You would have thought I had never tried a highlighter before. :)

While I like wearing the beige and brown together, I also love wearing just the beige and deep sea green together. In this look, I took the green and put it all over my lower lid, then a little bit in my crease but only from my outer V to the center of my eye and blended, blended, blended so that the green is really soft and sheer. Then I took a pencil brush to the green and lined my eyes, top and bottom. I really like the result, it’s a kind of a green smokey eye yet neutral enough for everyday wear. I also added a touch of the blush to the cheeks, can you see the light on my left cheek? I am loving this… and that doesn’t even include the products on my lips! That’s a post for another day.

    1. Hi Courtney! It is a little pricey but I’ve read that broken down in terms of product ounces, it’s actually cheaper than a MAC palette. That surprised me, plus I can reuse the palette when I’m done. The price has kept me from other buying other palettes though.

    1. Hi Carol! Thanks! It’s my new favorite combo, all from Burberry: Nude Beige no.01 liner, Antique Rose no.11 lipstick and Nutmeg no. 10 gloss.

  2. I ordered this too! Got a little bonus from work and decided to splurge. I too, have NEVER paid this much for a palette and it’s beautiful I haven’t dug in yet! It looks so soft and pretty the way you applied–love that lip combo too! A great spring look!

  3. I love that green with your eyes, it’s gorgeous. I’m with you, I can’t afford to shell out this kind of moola on makeup, no way, it’s gorgeous though. BTW you have PERFECT brows.
