Chanel Fall 2009 Venice Color Collection

I’m a little late with this one (I blame it on summer) but I’m still seeing this on counters so I wanted to talk about it. :)

Chanel’s Fall Venice collection takes you in two different directions. It can give you a softer, almost neutral look for day and it can go bolder, more dramatic for an evening look. Chanel’s collections always illicit some “oohs” and “ahhs” from me and this collection in particular warms by heart. There are pieces for the more adventurous and pieces for the everyday gal… basically there is something in this collection for everyone.

For the eyes, Chanel’s Venice collection features a new eyeshadow quad in Murano and the Eye Gloss quad seen here. I absolutely love the way eyes look with a little bit of gloss on them. Unfortunately it is not a look I can pull off because my lids get pretty oily but if I could, I’d be all over this.

For the face, Chanel released a Soft Pressed Powder blush in Peche Caresse (think soft peach) and a Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Sienna, a gorgeous earthy bronze as seen here. I’ve never tried the Blush Duos but I think it’s time I give it a whorl.

For lips, Chanel expanded its Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Colour line with 6 new shades:

  • Intuitive – a pinkish brown
  • Clandestine – a rich brick shade
  • Captive – a classic brown
  • Amusing – a rosewood tone
  • Comedia – a true rose (seen above)
  • Instinctive – a perfect pink nude

The collection also includes Glossimer in Courtisane, a natural pink (seen here), and Arelequin, a glossy gold. There is also a Precision Lip Definer in Praline d’Or, a golden-hued nude.

Last but certainly not least, Chanel has released 2 shades for fall with their Venice collection: Gondola and Intermezzo. Gondola is a rich maroon shimmer and Intermezzo is a sheerer white pearl. I adore reds but my favorite shade out of the two is Intermezzo. Even though Intermezzo is a little on the sheer side and it takes more than a few coats to get the shade seen in the bottle, I love its possibilities. I can layer this with other shades and have something new.

  1. I will never understand products like the gloss quad. Do you remember Club Monaco’s Eye Grease? Same concept and same verdict: works on the runway, not everyday. I’m going to skip this but probably go for the Chanel lippies… :)
