For three years now, I’ve been a loyal Benefit user, and no product makes me happier than their Dandelion cheek color.
What I love about this stuff is how unpretentious it is. Just sweep and go. No fussing, no color overload, no mistakes. For a fair-skinned gal like me, these features are vital, as normal blush usually creates a Joan-Crawford-eque look.
Dark-skinned girls might find Dandelion too faint for their skin, however, it works great as an all-over “brightener” so if you are darker, consider using it on your forehead, nose and chin for a nice glow. Best of all? Dandelion lasts FOREVER. I’ve had mine for two years and counting.
Okay, so it doesn’t involve waxing or any private parts but Brazillian women do this. This is Lush’s Sandstone Soap bar. Although it’s not my favorite soap bar, it’s still great because it’s got a dual purpose. It smells wonderful but what’s really awesome about this soap is that it can also exfoliate your skin. Their site says it was inspired by the women of Brazil, who use sand and suntan oil to exfoliate their skin. Just reading that inspired me to try it. It works pretty well, you just need to be careful with the sand portion so it doesn’t break apart on you. Otherwise, you’re good to go.
I might as well include my lip balm of the moment, Bath & Body Works Le Couvent des Minimes Honey & Shea Nutritive Lip Balm. Yeah, I know it’s a long name but it’s so good. It’s so soothing, not too greasy and it’s just the right thickness to make you feel like you’re really doing something good for your lips.
Bonus: it’s got that honey and shea goodness, I even fell for the matching soap and shower gel. If I could only find that scent in a perfume, I’d be so happy.
Yesterday I told you about the products my stylist used on me recently. Inspired by it’s appearance in Real Simple magazine, I picked up Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder and tried it out. There are a few schools of thought on this idea but some people believe you shouldn’t wash your hair everyday, that doing so strips essential oils from your hair. So being a girl who likes her hair, I thought I’d try this but what’s girl with oily hair to do? Try this product. With it’s color variety, it’s suitable for any haircolor, in fact, this could give your hair a bit of a temporary color kick. Only problem I have with this product is it’s price tag as well, at $28 a pop, I returned it to the salon and went the eBay route instead.
While I was getting my hair cut last week at Gene Juarez, my stylist used the most amazing products on my hair. She used Kerastase Bain Satin Shampoo and Kerastase Lait Vital Conditioner. The whole time she was cutting and styling my hair, all I could smell was that wonderful smell from the products. It smelled like Chanel N°5 so I asked her if I was right, and I was. Apparently Kerastase was inspired by the perfume when creating their products. I thought that was really cool but the price tag was not. At $30 each bottle, I think I’ll just stick smelling the products when I get my hair cut. It would make a great present for my mom though, she loves that smell… I’ll have to keep it in mind.
