Combat "Allergy Face" with Zyrtec

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zyrtec for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I use to think I was immune to allergies but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve had to face the cold, hard facts that I really am not immune to it anymore. My eyes get watery and red then my nose gets runny and suddenly I have Allergy Face. I learned I’m not alone, a whopping 96% of women suffer from allergies. Here are a few other interesting facts I wanted to share:

clear-7-day-challenge

So much attention is focused on the ends of our hair but really, a healthy scalp is the foundation for beautiful, strong, healthy hair. This is much like skincare, if you don’t take care of your skin, all the makeup in the world doesn’t matter. So let’s change that!

Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy is issuing us a challenge. Give them 7 days and they will give you stronger, more beautiful hair. They’re betting you’ll be amazed by the results! Just head over to the Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Facebook page and enter for a chance to win samples of their products. I’m excited to try the Damage & Repair line. After several years of constant coloring (and lately bleaching), my hair needs some rehabing.

So who’s with me? I’ll be taking the challenge and showing you my hair’s before and after shots at the end of my 7-days. Want to join me? Just post your shots on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #pgclearchallenge and we’ll find them!

Balance Oily Skin with the Avene Cleanance Line

As I have gotten older, I’ve learned to appreciate my oily skin. After all, that excess oil will help my skin looking younger than my dry skinned counterparts. I’m always trying new skincare, I like to say it’s part of my job but it also makes it hard to stick with a routine consistently. Recently I have incorporated a few products from the Avene Cleanance line help me balance my oily skin.

The first is Avene’s Cleanance Emulsion Lotion. This has been my go-to moisturizer for the better part of this year. I picked it up for the first time during a trip to New York in January and I’m now on my third tube. This is a cream-gel that quickly sinks into skin and disappears without a trace. It does a good job of hydrating my skin even now in drier weather and is rich enough for me to use as a night cream. I’ve yet to find a product that keeps me shine free all day long but this lotion gives me just enough hydration and helps keep my skin matte well into the afternoon. Oh, and it’s a 1/3 of the cost of the moisturizer I was previously obsessed with!

60 Eyeshadows to Take Your Look From Day to Night

20121018-223438.jpg

We’re use to seeing “naked” or “smokey” eyeshadow palettes but there’s a bit of a gaping void when it comes to eyeshadow palettes that can take your look from day to night in an instant. This  BH Cosmetics 60 Color BH Day and Night palette fills that void with its newest palette and gives you 60 shadows to play with for only $21. Our bottom line really loves that price… that and we happen to think BH gives good palette.

We’ve recently come to the conclusion that you can never have too many eye shadows. We’ve also come to the conclusion that we have been buying way too much makeup lately. If you’re like us (chances are that this is true, you’re reading a beauty blog after all), consider making an exception for this palette.  We were impressed with its stand out color selection, and amazing pigmentation for just $21 bucks, that’s $0.35 per eye shadow!

Considering Laser Eye Treatment?

Much like my wish for curly hair, I wanted to wear glasses when I was younger. I would wear cheap glasses from the drugstore just for fun. As I got older and picked up my first pair of reading glasses for working on the computer, I was excited. Finally! I have a legitimate reason to wear glasses! That excitement wore off real quick when day in and day out of wearing the glasses became uncomfortable.

Now that I’m even older and noticing my eyesight deteriorating a bit, I’ve started looking into other options like laser eye treatment and weighing the pros and cons of my options. I’m a little tired of squinting my eyes all the time but don’t want to wear glasses all day or have to put something in my eye. Just the thought of contacts make me squirm!

In looking into laser eye treatments, LASIK is one of the most popular types of treatment and the option I’m considering. The great thing about this is improvement is immediate with the ability to drive or return to work within 48 hours. The results can be precise and one of the surveys I read says patients saw an improvement of 90% and up after the procedure. I like those odds!

Have you had a laser eye treatment? Which type did you go with and what were your results? Let us know in the comments.
