It’s only fitting that the last Mani Monday of the year have a little sparkle to it and we picked a few things from the L’Oreal Diamonds collection for our looks. The collection includes gorgeous, shimmering color for lips and eyes (including a Diamond Voluminous Million Lashes mascara!) but it was the Colour Riche Nail polish and Colour Riche Nail Lingerie stickers that reeled us in.
The color seen here is called Sparklicious and two thick coats gave us moderately full coverage. It is chalked full of silver and gold glitter that is gorgeous packed on with a couple coats or layered over any other shade. This is a limited edition shade but it would be a good layering shade to stock up one when you spot it…back ups, ladies, back ups!
Kicking off Thanksgiving week is a little sparkle on sequin action. I opted for the most festive polish of the season in honor of Thanksgiving this week. It is my favorite holiday, after all. Essie Leading Lady, from the Winter 2012 collection, is loaded with ruby red sparkles in a jelly finish. It’s truly perfect. Two coats are enough, but for more sparkle we’d order up a third. I think it will go great with the stretchy pants I plan to wear all day on Thanksgiving. For those that actually dress up, I applaud you. I have a mission to eat a lot of stuffing, and I find that leggings are the most forgiving for this important task! But, I did start my week off by wearing this fabulous sequin top from Loft. Isn’t it fabulous?
What are you wearing on your nails this week?
My nails have crossed on over to the bright side this week with the obsession-worthy Essie Butler Please. This snazzy cobalt blue is just everything right now. It looks so sharps on nails and is one of those colors I see wearing the heck out of from now until next summer. Butler Please even inspired this purchase from Ann Taylor Loft yesterday. This shade is a pop of bright in an otherwise dynamic and exciting Essie Winter Collection.
And for you second dose of must-have, have you seen the Essie + Bauble Bar collab?
Nail polish is the ultimate accessory, so this collab is perfect! Pick your Essie winter polish and its accompanying bangle, then pick two more bracelets and the whole bundle will be delivered to you in a cute carrying case. Check it our here!
So what’s on your nails this week? Both Product Girl Jr (my 16 year old sister who shares my beauty obsession) and I are rocking Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in Coral Crush this week and we are enamored with this shade.
There’s so many things to love about Maybelline’s Color Show nail polishes, seriously. From the price per bottle, shade selection, finishes to formula, it is all worth your time and money. We received samples of various shades but have since then picked up several others to add to our arsenal. I have a feeling you will too.
With the exception of this shade, most shades are opaque in two coats, wear for a long time and are easy to apply and work with. Coral Crush needed three coats and was a tad streaky but we don’t mind that since we love the shade so much. It’s gorgeous on all skintones. All in the name of beauty, right?
We teamed up this month with our friends at Revlon to showcase a hair and nail trend this month. We present you our take on braids and nail art. I think I missed a very important life lesson as a child: properly braiding my hair. In the past year, I’ve conquered the fishtail and am trying very hard to do a French braid on myself. It’s a work in progress. But the one braid I can do practically sleeping is a traditional one. Especially when they are tiny, peek-a-boo style braids like I show you in the video above. I like to call this style something I do on day two/three hair to make the texture seem more styled.
For the nail art, this one is pretty simple thanks to Revlon Top Speed™ Nail Enamel and Revlon Nail Art Stencil. I applied two coats of the Top Speed in Sterling, a shiny silver then placed the Nail Art Stencil sticker on my dry nail. From there, it just took one coat of Orient (a classic red) on the top. I love how easy it was, and would be interested in seeing more Revlon Nail Art Stencils in other varieties in the future. Perhaps chevron stripes?
Our friends at Revlon are once again gifting 10 Product Girl readers with a product featured in this video. This month, we’ve got a Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel up for grabs! Leave a comment on this post by Saturday, October 27, telling us your thought on braids (tips and how-to advice welcome, please!) and we’ll pick 10 winners.*

*Winners to U.S. residents only.

This is a very big week for my family. My sister Vania is getting married on Wednesday in Las Vegas and we are all spending the week there in the sun. In honor of this occasion, I opted for a shade that was outside my usual range and my choice was Butter London’s Two Fingered Salute. What do you think? I’m wearing a bright raspberry dress to the wedding and I’m loving the contrast with the dress and my jewelry.
Normally I am not a fan of copper on my nails but I was in love with Deborah Lippmann’s Ray of Light from the moment I first put it on my nail and I’ve been on the lookout for copper flecks ever since. Now, I’m usually not a fan of greens either but the copper flecks as sage green had me at hello. Unlike Ray of Light, the flecks are super small and give the green a nice gold glow from a distance and great contrast up close. I am now infatuated with this shade, you will be too.
As for the formula, it flowed nicely on the nail and was the perfect consistency making it easy to control as I built on the color. Two coats gave me the color you see here.
So what’s on your nails this week? Let us know in the comments!
It’s been awhile since OPI has captivated my attention the way it has with its new Germany collection. Every color is a hit! I’m especially loving ‘Don’t Talk Bach to Me,’ a mustard lime with a subtle slick of silver shimmer. This color is unlike anything I’ve worn before, and I feel my fall nail repertoire lacks something without this addition. There’s something so ugly pretty about this one, and it looks AMAZE with all of the shades of grey and burgundy we’re seeing this season.
What do you think about this color? Would you wear?
NARS Storm Bird = when a grey nail polish is so much more than just a grey nail polish. Shades of grey (so NOT trying to make a ‘50’ ref, forgive me) have been really popular the past few years. But this shade of grey from NARS is far superior. Storm Bird is a shark grey that is on the nails 100% true to the color you see in the bottle. I love the glossy finish and how beautifully it goes on the nails. This color is definitely going in to a regular rotation this fall. A+ polish. What do you think?
My nails are badly in need of some professional attention right now but I’m trying to hide that with some color since I haven’t had a chance to get to the salon just yet. This week my helper is Zoya Paloma.
Paloma is part of the Zoya NYFW 2012 Gloss collection, it is one of three jelly finish shades in the collection. As a jelly lover, I was excited to see Zoya focus on jellies. Frida and Katherine, the other gals in the collection, are deep teal and plum jellies. As for Paloma, she is a deep berry in the bottle but on the nail is a beautiful raspberry. I loved that I only needed 2 coats to get the opacity that I wanted so it fairly well pigmented for a jelly. There is still a hint of my nail lines visible but the rich, syrup like finish is very much there.
What’s on your nails this week? Tell us all about it in the comments! And by the way, there’s still time for Zoya’s Back to School BOGO!
This week’s mani is everything. I can’t remember the last time I got this excited about my polish. Everything about this is amazing. First, the color: MAC Styleseeker, from the “Style Seeker” collection launching this week. Second, the formula: smooth and easy to apply. Third, the finish: a red orange duo chrome.
I’m really picky about my duo chromes. I find so many of them to be the same, usually with purple/green flashes. Nothing wrong with that, sure, just that I’m used to it. Styleseeker is so interesting, and reminds me of a hot fall day. When the leaves are red/orange and crinkly but the weather is still summer-like. If you’re crafting your fall nail polish wardrobe, as we are, I think you need this color in it.
Somehow, my excitement over my mani has turned this Monday into a great one! Hope everyone’s week is starting off the same. What are you wearing on the tips this week?
MAC Styleseeker, coming to counters August 23, and online now for $15.
