Have you heard about StyleMint? It’s a line of exclusive t-shirts designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sold exclusively online. StyleMint operates a little differently than your typical web retailer, When Carla tried JewelMint, my curiosity was instantly peeked. As a t-shirt connoisseur, I love this concept and was so excited to experience StyleMint for myself.
StyleMint starts by asking you a series of questions to get a feel for your personal style and what you like to wear. Based on your responses, StyleMint develops your profile and presents their top picks for you in their showroom. In addition to StyleMint’s picks, you can also choose from other styles in the showroom… which there are plenty of! I picked out the Fillmore in a navy stripe, the Fuller in white and my favorite; the Broadway in a hibiscus stripe to start with.

Kate Beckinsale looked stunning at the Golden Globes in that sparkly Roberto Cavalli. Her skin was looking extra radiant as well, and complemented the dress perfectly. Makeup artist Molly Stern wanted to keep Kate’s skin luminous and create a slight edge with the eyes.
To get the look:
Skin: Molly began by moisturizing Kate’s skin with Natura Bisse’s The Cure Cream. She then primed with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer which creates a flawless canvas for makeup, followed by a light application of Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer in Sand.
Cheeks: She used the bronze tone in Hourglass Illume Crème-to Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset to add warmth to her skin, and followed with the blush tone applied on the apples of her cheeks. She then dusted Nars Miss Liberty high on her cheekbone to add an extra glow.
Eyes: Molly used the bronze shade of Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy as a base, and set it with Nars Galapagos Eye Shadow, smudged deep into the lid. For an extra pop of light, she dabbed Chanel’s Blazing Gold Ombré Essential over the inner lid. Her lashes are deep and jet-black due to Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara, followed by Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer which was painted over them for an extra kick of drama.
Lips: Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème lipstick in Fresco was used as a base on Kate’s lips, followed by Hourglass Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Imagine for a glistening sheen.
The Golden Globes – it’s as classy an event as, say, the Oscars but less pressure and more alcohol served means my favorite red carpet of awards season! Anybody else surprised at the lack of fashion disasters last night? So many elegant looks it was difficult choosing my “best dressed” list but I think I’ve whittled it down to my top three looks of the night.
Claire Danes. Far and away my favorite look of the night. Claire is sophisticated and polished from the front with the open back a sexy surprise. I love that she kept her hair and makeup simple with an easy up-do and classic red lip. She is absolutely stunning.
Emma Stone. I am a big fan of Emma’s red carpet style so i could not wait to see what she would don for the Golden Globes. She did not disappoint. Emma looks effortlessly chic and sexy in her eggplant Lanvin gown. The shoulder detail and belt were refreshing youthful touches and love the smoldering eye makeup that completed the look.
Adam Levine. Full disclosure – my affection for tattooed rockers may have something to do with my third pick. There are two categories men fall into at awards shows: Boring or Whacky (ahem, Johnny Depp). Adam Levine was anything but boring in his classic ensemble. He wears a tux well. Very well.

As much as I love living in the Midwest, the winters are harsh and I always look forward to spending the holidays with my family in Florida. I can’t wait to trade-in my winter coat (which some have mistaken for an extreme-weather sleeping bag) for some flip-flops. Since Thanksgiving I have been setting aside what I’ll be packing in excited anticipation of my trip. Below is a list of what will be in my travel bag (while leaving room for some vacation shopping!) Are you heading someplace warm for the holidays?
1. I’ve been wearing Toms shoes for years because I love how comfortable they are and it’s easy to justify buying a pair of shoes when your purchase helps someone in need! I love the colors of this striped pair, which will look great with jean shorts and a tank or short sundress.
2. I love being tan just as much as the next sun-worshipping gal, but is important to protect skin from damaging rays. Clinique has great sunscreens for face and body that won’t clog pores or leave you feeling greasy.
3. I’m glad the chambray shirt is making a comeback – it travels well and can be paired with anything. I’ll use it as a beach cover-up or tie it up over a maxi dress and add some bangles.
4. I don’t like to wear a lot of make up when I’m on a vacation…skin needs a break too! Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine is ultra-moisturizing and gives lips a natural-looking tint.
5. I hate spending time blow-drying my hair – especially in hot climates when it’s just going to frizz up. Bumble and Bumble’s Curl Conscious Reactivating Mist is a must-have for my travel case. This spray works with hair’s natural wave to give soft curls. I just spritz it on damp ends and go, no heat or styling required!
6. J. Crew knows what it’s doing when it comes to bikinis. Their shapes are classic and colors can easily be mixed and matched for a new look. I love pairing their basic blues with printed styles I already own.
Fashion and beauty are natural companions. Which is why I think I have such a great connection with Product Girl’s newest contributor, Emily. She also hails from Chicago, and happens to spend about 40 hours each week with yours truly. (Yes, we work together.) Since the moment I met her, I’ve been doling out beauty tips and she’s been telling me what shoes to buy. As much as we love sharing beauty and style tips with each other, it seems more fitting for Emily join to us on Product Girl and share her POV with all of you. She’ll be posting a weekly column here about all of her style finds and pairing them with a beauty item of choice.
But before Emily gets started, we wanted you to know a little bit more about her. Read on!

While I love me a good book store (RIP Borders), I’m pretty ecstatic that today is the day Topshop opens its second U.S. location in Chicago, in the home of the former Borders store at 830 N. Michigan Ave. This was all the buzz around the office this morning! The location couldn’t be better, and the interior has been renovated to create major impact. The escalators have been moved to the back of the store, and a balcony will cover the second floor (Topman) and house a DJ booth. As someone who spent a lot of time in that Borders, it’s going to be crazy different.
In honor of the store’s launch, Topshop created an exclusive nail polish, called Windy City. This stormy blue couldn’t be more perfect for Chicago, right? It certainly reflects the mood around the city come January!
Happy Topshopping to all. Let us know if you’re in Chicago, and if you’re stopping by the store! Would love to hear what you think!
This past weekend I discovered ballet flats. You may be thinking “yeah, they’re old news” but to me, it’s brand spanking new. As a gal who spends most of her time in Birkenstocks or Fitflops (no judgment!), I always thought ballet flats were not for me. I have wide feet and sometimes they do not look cute at all stuffed into a pair of ballet flats.
This weekend I was browsing the sale rack at Nordstrom and saw these Report Fernley flats in Gold so I tried them on. I was shocked that a) they looked good on my feet and b) that they were so comfortable. That started a hunt for new ballet flats, I almost picked these Report Lilburn flats up but what I’m really coveting right now are these Report Burna flats, aren’t they adorable? They are made out of canvas and have this great little peep toe to them so you get just peek of that spring pedi. I tried these on in Coral and just fell in love with them but didn’t cave on them just yet. I’m taking this ballet flat relationship slowly! These are the perfect shoes to guide me out of Birkenstock/FitFlop land.
Do you have a favorite ballet flat? Tell me all about it in the comments. I’ve already been checking on Corso Comos, Me Too, Bloch and Rocket Dog flats.
