Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman, responsible for all things awesome over at Revlon the past few years, previewed 2013 launches on the runways at New York Fashion Week. The look seen here at Giuletta’s Spring/Summer 2013 Presentation was all about dewy skin.
“The designer was envisioning a mermaid with an eccentric twist,” says Westman. “I wanted it to look as if the girls had just emerged from the sea. I focused on creating a dewy glow then added a striking brown eye and glossy bronzed lips to complete the look.”
The Revlon look included:
Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup (available January 2013)
Revlon PhotoReady Sculpting Blush Palette in Natural
Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Not Just Nudes
Revlon PhotoReady Primer and Shadow in Metropolitan and Graffiti, $9.99 (available January 2013)
Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Brown, $7.99
Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara, $8.99
Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum, $7.49
Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Bronze Shimmer, $7.49
Revlon ColorStay Nail in Enamel in Seashell from The Spring/Summer ’13 Collection (available next spring)
We’re anxiously awaiting more details on the “Nearly Naked Makeup” responsible for this dewy, natural look. Also, we love the natural nude lip from the duo of Colorburst Glosses. That we don’t have to wait until January to try! What do you think?
After seeing this gorgeous beauty shot from backstage at Alexander Wang, it’s clear that we all need NARS Zen Blush. Can you even with that glowy skin and sculpted cheek? NARS, led by artist Diane Kendal, created the look for the Alexander Wang Spring 2013 show. Here’s the breakdown, and a hint of some new products coming for Spring 2013!
NARSskin Optimal Brightening Concentrate (just launched!)
Sheer Glow Foundation
Radiant Creamy Concealer (coming Spring 2013!)
Light Reflecting Setting Powder – Loose (coming Spring 2013!)
Albatross Highlighting Blush
Cayenne Single Eyeshadow (contour)
Blondie or Bali Eyeshadow (on brows)
Pandora Duo Eyeshadow
Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara
And, while the duct tape part may be for runway effect only, I’m even digging that.
Now, off to order Zen Blush. Seriously, how do I not already have this?

If the makeup at Rebecca Minkoff’s spring/summer 2013 show is any indication, mint is coming back in a big way for beauty next spring. I just breathed a huge sigh of relief. I am not ready to see pastels go away, and I’m hopelessly in love with all things mint. Stila Cosmetics, led by Pro Artist Sarah Lucero, created the Rebecca Minkoff beauty look, and gave us a sneak peek at the new mint Stay All Day Liquid Liner launching for spring. What do you think? We are LOVING the peek of mint in the corner, and can’t wait to wear this look next season! In the meantime, we’ll try the peek of color in the corner with a deeper shade for fall, like burgundy or purple!

It’s Fashion Week, which means in addition to checking out the fashion forecast for Fall 2012, we’re mining for the beauty and hair trends coming our way later this year. TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu created an undone side bun for Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2012 runway show. To complement the mix of leather, fur, sequins and knits on the runway, Jeanie went with a chic, textured yet relaxed low bun to bring femininity to the strong silhouettes in the collection.
1. Create a deep side part and prep damp hair with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray. Apply throughout hair from roots to ends
2. Diffuse hair on high heat
3. Repeat steps 1 & 2 – apply TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray from roots to ends and diffuse hair. Be sure to layer the product to create a natural, rough texture
4. Apply a dime size amount of TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème throughout hair to give definition
5. Gather hair into a loose pony on one side, fastening elastic midway down the pony, leaving the heavier side of the face-framing part loose and undone
6. Twist hair into a messy side bun, fastening with hair pins as you go
7. Loosely gather pieces from the heavier side of the part and pin into bun
8. To finish, lightly spritz with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray
What do you think? I think this one will work nicely off the runway!
*Also, it doesn’t feel right not to mention our sadness about the death of Whitney Houston. All of us at Product Girl have our own memories growing up listening to her beautiful voice. RIP Whitney.
While I am wishing I was in New York to stop by all the fabulous events being held there tonight, I’ll be stepping out in Seattle tonight. My first stop is Nordstrom for a little tweet-up then afterwards I am heading to University Village for a little more shopping for their FNO event today from 3pm to 9pm.
As part of the event, the first 200 lucky shoppers who check in at the FNO station located between Ben Bridge and Sole Food will receive a free deluxe U Village swag bag with goodies from many of U Village merchants.
Some of the highlights include “Shopping, Sweets and Sweeps,” an event hosted by Cole Haan where shoppers can enter to win a new pair of Cole Haan shoes every month for a year. Anthropologie will be hosting a trunk show featuring their new fall fashions and H&M will offer a $10 off any purchase of $50 or more for this special night only. Swink Style Bar is offering discounts, raffles, hair and makeup consultations and champagne.
You can find more information on the event here, including how to win a $500 U Village shopping spree by donating new or gently-used coat to Wellspring Family Services. RSVP on Twitter and Facebook!
Fashion Week officially kicked off with the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection show. Bobbi Brown did the makeup, and you can check her out in action backstage on her Facebook page.
The New York Times provided a great profile on Francois Nars this week – “Behind the Makeup, a Low-Profile Artist.”
There is a definite 70s revival taking place in fashion. At the Rebecca Taylor show, the models wore a “disco lip” courtesy of MAC. Also check out the nails: Suzi Loves Cowboys from OPI’s Texas Collection. [via Stylelist]

If there were ever a year for Chanel makeup, 2010 is shaping up to be the one. We were just saying the other day how it’s been one fantastic release after another. Would everyone agree? And here we have yet one more, the Chanel Soho Story Collection, launching in celebration of the re-opening of the Chanel boutique in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan.
The “story” behind the collection, according to Chanel’s Global Creative Director of Makeup Peter Phillips, is a study in extreme contrasts, partnering feminine pinks and roses with strong, industrial metallics. There’s a definite Pop Art influence reflected in the collection’s signature product, the SoHo de Chanel Highlighting and Blush ($65), and it really is a standout.
The collection also includes: Continue reading
Big news, Chanel fans. To celebrate Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out on September 10 during New York Fashion Week, Chanel is releasing its newest nail collection sensation: Les Khakis De Chanel. Shown above from left to right, the collection includes: Khaki Rose, Khaki Vert and Khaki Brun. If I’m looking in my crystal ball, Khaki Vert is going to be the new “it” shade. It almost reminds me of “Sew Psyched” from Essie Fall. I’m happy to see a new muted neutral enter the spectrum. Perhaps this green-beige hybrid will be called “greenge.”
Any of these shades calling out to you? How about after seeing these swatches? If you’re me, and all three are, take careful note: each retails for $25.
