Every year, MAC treats us to a new Viva Glam lipstick and a new spokesperson. This year, we get two, courtesy of Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga. From our perspective, MAC is a brand we love that also does great things and the Viva Glam campaign is a prime example. We don’t get too deep here often, but the issue of HIV/AIDS on a global scale is serious stuff. We applaud MAC for donating 100 percent of its Viva Glam sales to the MAC Aids Fund – which to date has raised $150 million!
These beautiful lipsticks hit counters a few weeks ago and the packaging adorned with Cyndi and Gaga’s autographes are the perfect touch. As a cool-toned pink girl, I’m gravitating to Viva Glam Gaga, but I think the Viva Glam Cyndi is a flattering soft red with a warm tone. I see that one looking great on many women.
What do you think of the new additions to the Viva Glam line? I’m always going to be partial to Viva Glam V, but these are refreshingly unique.
Today we’re not going to be taljking about beauty products. Today we’re going to focus on the relief effort for the people of Haiti. We’re making our donations and today we’re asking that you do as well. Every little bit helps so don’t feel bad if you are not able to make a big donation. Here are a few ways you can donate today:
- Visit the Red Cross and select the “Haiti Relief and Development” fund.
- Text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross.
- Text “YELE” to 501501 to donate $5 to Yele Haiti.
- Leave a comment on this entry. I’ll donate $1 on your behalf if you’re one of the 1st 100 people to comment.
Talk to your friends and family, ask them if they have made their donation.
They say that wearing red lipstick makes you feel more confident so Poppy at Lipstick Queen designed a sheer red lipgloss to help boost your confidence and empower women at the same time. Lipstick Queen Fired Up Power Gloss is a sheer fire engine red gloss and it is available exclusively at lipstickqueen.com. So how does this lipgloss empower women? Lipstick Queen is donating 100% of the profits from the sale to Count Me In, an organization that provides financial assistance and business consulting services to woman-owned businesses.
Have you tried this Lipstick Queen Fired Up gloss? I’m adding it to my shopping list. Let us know what you think in the comments.
I’m a sucker for a few things: red lipgloss and nail polish, cute packaging and good causes. Right now Lancome has all of that in their Ma Cherie Cherry set from their La Collection Lollipop.
Lancome worked with the Lollipop Theater Network to create these limited edition gift sets. Each set contains a Color Fever Gloss and a Le Vernis Nail Polish in lollipop inspired shades like Mademoiselle Grape, Bon Bon Strawberry and Ma Cherie Cherry. And a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of each La Collection Lollipop set will be donated to the organization. The Lollipop Theater Network is a nonprofit organization that brings the magic of movies currently in theaters to children and teenagers hospitalized due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
I have not yet picked up a set myself but I intend to! The colors are so bright and fun that you can’t help but zero in on them and love them. Sadly, I neglected to tell you about these sets when I first saw them pop up in stores but better late than never, right?
Who else is getting in on the pink? Ojon. They will be donating up to $35,000 from the sales of their Ojon Revitalizing Mist in North America during the month of October.
This product is a pre-styling leave-in conditioner that leaves hair soft and manageable while treating it with very own Ojon oil.
I’ve been using this for the past few weeks and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try an Ojon product. It is a little pricey at $26 but it is performing much better than the leave in conditioner I was using prior to this one. It smells great and does a good job of refreshing my hair when needed. I’m definitely going to try other Ojon products after this.
You can find Ojon’s Revitalizing Mist at Nordstrom, Ulta, Sephora and online at Ojon. Right now Ojon is offering free shipping on any order containing this product.
Have you tried this product? What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments.
Does the smell of roses make you go weak in the knees? The scent definitely does that to me. I even reach for my rose scented products more often than the other products I use on a regular basis. This makes Jo Malone’s Red Roses Cologne and Bath Oil a no-brainer for me. I’ve been wearing this scent to bed every night since I got it.
The company is donating $15,000 to Breast Cancer Research Foundation in connection with the purchases of these two products. The Red Roses Cologne is available in 1 fl. oz. and 3.4 fl. oz. sizes for $55 and $100. Then the Red Roses Bath Oil is available in 8.5 fl. oz. size for $60.
You can find these products at select Nordstrom, select Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Jo Malone boutiques and of course online.
Bobbi Brown has created a gorgeous limited edition lip set for October and you’re still in time to get it!
Bobbi Brown’s Pink Ribbon Collection features her top selling Tulle Lip Color (a personal favorite of mine) and Pink Glitter Lip Gloss to give your lips the right amount of pink sparkle. The company will be donating $35,000 from the sale of this set to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
You can pick this set up for $40 and it’s available at all Bobbi Brown counters and online. Also, you can great free shipping with the purchase of this set if you order online from the 29th to the 31st. Just enter in PINK08 during checkout.
Out of all of the companies working to raise awareness during the past month, Estee Lauder deserves a huge amount of praise for their efforts. They have so many products from their various companies benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. They are also donating $500,000 from the sale of their Pink Ribbon Collection products. This is just one of those products.
It may be sold out online but the Estee Lauder Elizabeth Hurley High Gloss Lip Color Collection is beyond cute and still available in stores. For $16, it features Elizabeth Hurley’s favorite Pearl, Pink (limited edition shade) and Rose High Gloss shades in a limited edition Pink Ribbon case. I love this gloss! It’s not sticky, glides on and it smells divine. You’ll love the vanilla-fig scent as soon as you try it!
You can find other products in the Pink Ribbon collection here including a pink ribbon pin you can wear all year round. The Beautiful Eau de Parfum Spray in the 2.5 fl. oz. size and Perfectionist CP+ Wrinkle Lifting Serum in the 1.7 fl. oz size are also part of the campaign this month.
Boots has also gone pink this month. From now until November 9th, they are donating 10% of the profits from the sale of their No.7 Glisten Gloss Lip Pencils, No.7 Rainbow Palette, and No.7 Lash 360 Mascara to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
You can find Boots products at Target. While you’re browsing through the Boots aisle, take a look at their No.7 Quick Thinking 4-in-1 Wipes. You’ll thank us for it later…
