Kiehl's + Earth Day AND Mark Ruffalo

What do Mark Ruffalo, deep pore cleansing and recycling have in common? Kiehl’s, of course. For their 2012 Earth Day campaign, Kiehl’s is teaming with Recycle Across America and releasing four totally awesome Limited Edition Rare Earth Cleansing Masques with label art inspired and created by four celebs. That’s where Mark Ruffalo comes in. He joins Spike Lee, Florence Welch and Rosario Dawson for the 2012 campaign, and 100% of net proceeds from these limited edition Rare Earth Cleansing Masques will benefit Recycle Across America.

This masque is one of our favs at Product Girl. In the warmer months, we use it a few times a week. It’s dude-friendly, too. One I can actually get the man in my house to use —-I care about his pores as well. The Amazonian White Clay helps to purify the skin and other ingredients, including oat kernel flour, help zap up all that surface oil on skin. I’m all for masque-ing for charity, ESPECIALLY when Mark Ruffalo is involved. I will promptly be taking myself to Kiehl’s in April to snag Mark Ruffalo’s design. I love them ALL. I’m tempted to get Florence’s as well. Don’t you love them?

And, a fun fact to leave you with:  Since 2009, Kiehl’s has collected more than 500,000 empty Kiehl’s bottles from shoppers through its “Recycle & Be Rewarded” program.  While I’m a regular recycler (especially because of the rewards), I may not be able to part with these. At least not Mark’s…

Beauty for a Cause: Beauty Bar Partners with FEED Foundation

When I heard one of my favorite e-tailers went and opened a physical store I got excited. BeautyBar.com is one of my favorite sites to hop on over to from Soap.com, and now Wag.com (a.k.a my dog Betty’s favorite website). Shared cart on all of the above. Beauty Bar has such a luxurious group of brands – Jouer, By Terry, Clark’s Botanicals, Malin & Goetz and Deborah Lippman to name a few– so a retail location has got to have an equally posh atmosphere.

This is the part that is such a tease, because the Beauty Bar flagship store is located in Long Island. I think it would thrive in Chicago, so I’m sending vibes that we’re next. The flagship store is equipped with a Treatment Room where a licensed aesthetician is on-site and a Blow Dry Bar.

But for those of us shopping online, Beauty Bar is partnering with the FEED Foundation, whose mission is to end world-hunger, on a new referral program. For every new customer referred to the site, Beauty Bar will donate $5 to FEED.

BeautyBloggers.org Annual Charity Auction is Live!

For the second year in a row, beauty bloggers and brands have joined forces for an online auction benefitting Doctors Without Borders. In the spirit of the season, we wanted to make a meaningful contribution to charity. Together, we’re auctioning off new makeup and beauty items to bidders anywhere in the world. Every penny of the winning bid will go to Doctors Without Borders. In fact, when the auction ends, winning bidders make their donations directly to Doctors Without Borders, through the site’s secure giving page.

Product Girl donated a Clarisonic Opal, and there are SO many great treasures in the auction this year. Like the entire NARS 2011 Holiday Collection , for example.

MAC Viva Glam 2012 Campaign Image Revealed

This just in: MAC revealed the Viva Glam 2012 campaign image featuring Ricky Martin and Nicki Minaj on their Facebook page. What do you think? The scoop on the lipstick is still TBD…but we’re excited to find out. Is it just us, or does Ricky Martin not age? I’m totally envious. Men have it so good.

Ricky and Nicki’s Viva Glam products will be on MAC counters come February, and every cent will go towards the MAC Aids Fund.

Lush Rising Sun Soap

This weekend I was at Lush stocking up on Honey I Shrunk the Kids soap and a Godiva shampoo bar for my trip to New York next month and I came across this Lush Rising Sun soap at the register. Besides being a pretty bar of soap, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Peace Boat.

Support relief efforts in Japan with our very special soap. Shaped like the Japanese flag and smelling of cherries with spicy cinnamon undertones, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of The Rising Sun will go directly to Peace Boat. The LUSH Japan team saw the amazing work being done by a charity called Peace Boat; since the earthquake they have been organizing teams of volunteers, transporting aid, and providing meals to those affected by the disaster. A Japan-based international non-governmental and non-profit organization, Peace Boat works to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment. BeautyBloggers.org Charity Auction

BeautyBloggers.org is the collaboration of almost 50 different beauty bloggers and brands. Everyone involved has donated some highly coveted goodies to raise money to give the most effective donation we can give to any charity this holiday – cash. The money raised from the over 100 items being auctioned from now until Monday, December 20th will be donated directly to Doctors Without Borders.

We’re raising money for Doctors Without Borders because women are always disproportionately affected in any disaster. This organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people in crisis, regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. They treat rape victims in Papua New Guinea; they make sure women don’t die in childbirth in Pakistan; they helped flood victims in Mexico and earthquake victims in Haiti. Support the Cause: Beauty and Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and many companies show their support by donating proceeds from special edition “pink” products towards breast cancer research. Even though October is almost over, there’s still time for some pink power. Here’s a few of our favorite “pink” beauty buys for 2010.

Lancome Genes Day for St Jude's Childrens Research Hospital

Today is Lancome’s Genes Day, a one day fundraising event benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. For every bottle of Lancome’s Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate sold in the U.S., Lancôme will donate $7, with a minimum donation of $100,000 from this initiative.
