Kiehl's Recycle and Be Rewarded (with this Mark Ruffalo picture and video)

Kiehl’s is coming really close to turning this in to a Mark Ruffalo fan blog.

Mark (we’re on a first name basis) is one of the four celebs teaming with Kiehl’s on its partnership with Recycle Across America™.  He helped design a limited edition label for the Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque, and 100% of net proceeds of sales of the specially-packaged Rare Earth masque will benefit Recycle Across America. And his campaign photo (by Timothy White) is just so, well, hot. I mean…right?

Kiehl’s Recycle & Be Rewarded Program:

  • 3 empties=a Lip Balm #1
  • 5 empties=1 product from the Official Kiehl’s Travel Collection
  • 10 empties= any single product with a value of $25 or less

Kiehl’s is also  relaunching its in-store recycling program to help encourage its customers and fans to return empty Kiehl’s bottles, tubes and jars. You’ll see a brand new bin in stores with four different segments to separate the different components of a Kiehl’s product. Pretty cool! I am a card carrying member of the Recycle & Be Rewarded program, and I love it. So must others….since 2009, Kiehl’s has already recycled 500,000 bottles.  Free stuff JUST for recycling in-store. MAC does this, too, and we wish more companies would catch on.

I leave you with this INSPRING video of Mark Ruffalo during his Kiehl’s shoot. He talks about his love for his kids, changing the world and using Kiehl’s. It makes me happy, He is GOOD PEOPLE. You’ll be happier having watched this – promise:)

Beauty VIP of the Week: NARS Alhambra

That Gwyneth. Her amazing body, beautiful skin and hot musician husband. She always turns it out on the red carpet, and she got our vote for best dressed at the Oscars in that sleek, white Tom Ford. We also loved her makeup, especially the eyes. The key element? NARS Alhambra Duo Eyeshadow. Makeup Artist Leslie Lopez for NARS Cosmetics applied the champagne side to Gwyneth’s lid for a pop of gold.

In my quest to be Gwyneth-esque (wish I had a Chris Martin, if we’re being real, though) I used Alhambra all week long. A duo I’ve had and loved for some time, it was almost like a reunion between BFFs who’ve been out of touch for years but manage to pick up right where they left off. I had some fun with the pink side and the champagne side, but I had the most fun mixing them together for a rosy gold color. It’s been everything to my eye look this week — I’m even forgoing eyeliner and just loading up with mascara. Alhambra is a true Beauty VIP, and one of my all-time favorite duos from NARS.

Reese Witherspoon in mark for International Women's Day

Reese Witherspoon is just so darn ardorable! As the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation for Women, Reese was in D.C. for an event earlier this week. Love the classy LBD and the soft, yet dramatic, makeup.  She does smoky bronze so well. Mark makeup artist Mai Quynh was responsible for the look, and we’ve got a breakdown of what she used.

EYES:

Mai put the focus on Reese’s eyes, layering a shimmering gold shadow over a soft blend of neutral-colored shadows. Mai then upped the drama by using a dark eyeshadow as liner and a few swipes of black mascara on lashes.

  • i-mark Metallic Eye Shadow in Goldi Luxe ($6)
  • i-mark Eye Shadow in Tiki ($6)
  • i-mark Eye Shadow  in Java ($6)
  • Avon SuperExtend Extreme Mascara ($9)

CHEEKS & LIPS:

For the finishing touches, Mai applied a soft rose cream blush on Reese’s cheeks and a nude-colored lipstick to enhance Reese’s natural glow.

  • Avon True Color Blush in Earthen Rose ($8)
  • Shine Attract Lipstick in Nude Love ($9)

Hair How-To + Giveaway: Lea Michele SAG Awards 2012

One of our favorite looks from last night’s SAG Awards Red Carpet was Lea Michele in Atelier Versace. The slit was DARING, and she just totally killed it. The makeup and hair complemented the dress perfectly, too. The man responsible for Lea Michele’s soft and sultry hairstyle was Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend. Mark used several products from the new, nine-piece Dove Style+Care collection to get the look. This line officially launches March 1, and is designed to help nourish and protect hair for long-lasting style.

“I started by applying a large dollop of the new Dove Style+Care Nourishing Amplifier Mousse to Lea’s damp hair and blow dried with a large round brush for volume.

Next, I took a dime-size amount of the new Dove Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum in my hands and rubbed them together to warm up the product, and then raked my hands through her hair. I am obsessed with this cream; it gives the hair amazing shine and separation, and also nourishes the hair too so it’s like having a styling product and a conditioner in one bottle.

I pulled her hair into a loose bun while Lea had her makeup done to set a loose wave in her hair. Then, I let the hair down and sprayed Oribe Après Beach Spray all over to give the hair that great sexy “second-day” hair.

Just before Lea left for the red carpet, I finished her hairstyle by spraying the new Dove Style+Care Extra Hold Hairspray all over to keep her hair in place without it looking stiff or crunchy.”

And, we’re giving away the three Dove Style+Care products used to create Lea Michele’s SAG look! Leave us a comment and tell us what you thought about the SAG styles. Did you like Lea’s look? Who was your favorite! We’ll pick one winner* end of day Thursday, February 2.

Update: Congrats to Jennifer, the winner of the Dove Style + Care giveaway!

What's New in Beauty: Benefit Sun Beam, Leila Lou Eau de Parfum and The BEACHWAVER

Liquid sunshine? Sign me up for Benefit’s just-launched Sun Beam. They recommend pairing it with Hoola bronzer for a brilliant golden look.

Snooki without makeup is pretty amazing. She needs to do this more! [Refinery29]

It’s here….the Leila Lou Eau de Parfum. The fresh fragrance we all know and looove by Rosie Jane is now available in a lighter version of the Leila Lou scented oil. Look for familiar notes of pear, fresh cut grass and tangerine.

The BEACHWAVER by celebrity hair stylist Sarah Potempa is launching on QVC today in the 2pm est. and 9pm est. hours. We are very curious about this – the auto rotate feature and the ability to customize for the left and right sides of your hair. [QVC]

Kate Beckinsale stunned at the Underworld premiere earlier this week. Makeup artist Molly Stern created a radiant look for Kate using Laura Mercier. She used one of our new obsessions, the Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer, to get the look.

Get the Brow: Rooney Mara

What started as an appreciation for the extreme transformation into Lisbeth Salander has grown into a mild obsession with Rooney Mara. I was a little peeved with her “diss” on her Law & Order SVU appearance when reading the January Allure, but I got over that after I saw her in action in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I’m fully on-board the Rooney Mara train now.

Her bone structure is enviable, and her brows inspirational. And her showing at the Golden Globes was one of my favorites. Put the tweezers away immediately, and don’t look back. While I’m sure Mara’s fierce brows are partially due to great genes, we can all enlist some help keeping our brow growth in check. One option to keep the unruly hairs looking by design is a brow gel. We recommend per-fékt beauty brow perfection gel, which acts as a brow pencil, powder and sealant in one tube. Three color choices, in addition to clear, and a formula that contains glycerin, honeysuckle flower and sage extracts, means this can work for everyone.

Are you in for bold brows in 2012?
