Natural Beauty Find: Vapour Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation

It is September 2012 and if you have yet to try Vapour Beauty, then you should change that situation a.s.a.p. Your year will take a turn for the plus. Everything I try from this organic beauty powerhouse is a win. No longer is it “for a natural product, it’s pretty good.” Vapour is superior to most non-natural brands. I love the way this industry is progressing. And my skin agrees. My most recent natural beauty find is Vapour Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation. No chemicals, no irritants. Rather, 70% certified organic ingredients, like pumpkin and camellia, and 30% natural mineral pigments and vitamins.

Vapour Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation swatches, (L) S115, (R) S120

Vapour designed this to lend a soft finish to the skin. It blurs out blemishes and unevenness flawlessly. Just a pump is all you need (I’m a match to shade S115). Miraculously, I first started using this at the hottest point of the summer and my skin did not act out. There’s a satin feel (due to yummy ingredients, not silicones)  and I was wondering if it would slide off my face. When the ingredients are there to balance and do some good, you’ll be amazed at how positively your skin responds.

If you have aging skin (sadly, we all do, that’s life), then this is your friend. It softens the appearance of pesky fine lines and wrinkles, so you’ll look like you’re aging in the opposite direction.  $48 at

Beauty VIP of the Week: Vapour Organic Beauty Siren Lipstick in Au Pair

Vapour Siren Lipstick might just be the most comfortable lipstick I’ve ever worn. The more I wear it, the more I just can’t stop. One, because I’ve found my perfect shade, Au Pair, a rosy pink, and two, because it doesn’t feel like lipstick. Au Pair is from Vapour’s Summer collection, and is a total standout. When you wear a gloss, you usually feel the slip or stick. When you wear lipstick, depending on the finish, you might be worrying about it drying out your lips, fading or lasting. With a balm, it’s all about comfort—assuming it’s not too waxy or thick. With Vapour Siren Lipstick, it’s weightless and has the color intesity of a lipstick in a moisturizing balm. And, there’s no worry about prepping your lips if they’re dry, this will revive them back to their ideal, moisturized state. Honestly, where has this product been all of my life?

Themed Beauty: Vapour Organics Summer 2012

I see a theme happening in my makeup bag this summer….makeup in a stick. Be it the perfect bronzer (more on that here) my purse-staple Bobbi Brown Face Touch-Up Stick or just about everything from the Vapour Organics Spring/Summer 2012 collection, I’m loving the convenience and ease of no-brush beauty.  And bonus, Vapour’s formulas are made entirely with certified organic plants, minerals and vitamins that treat your skin and give it some color. Vapour basically defines the “healthy” makeup category.

Swatches L-R: Orbit, Provoke, Au Pair

So the sticks. We have Trick Stick in Orbit, a brightening white-blue highlighter for cheekbones, brow bones, bow of the lip (FAV!) and inner corners of the eyes. The slim applicator makes this so user-friendly and Vapour infuses the Trick Stick with anti-inflammatory herbs so skin looks so healthy and naturally lustrous.  The orchid pink stick is Mesmerize Eye Shimmer in Provoke. This one STUNNED me – you always fear a little bit looking red or tired with pink eye color but the purply undertones make this so unique. It’s like a special treat for the eyelids — the formula deliver antioxidants (how often are you actually getting nutrients on the lid?) and Provoke is super brightening. Provoke + mascara = all you need to look fresh and AWAKE.

And…I saved the best stick for last…Siren Lipstick in Au Pair. It’s a velvet berry color that is rosy on my lips. It’s one of those colors that brightens up everything but doesn’t look like I’m wearing lipstick. I love when that happens, don’t you?  Vapour also revamped this already awesome formula with a new botanical infusion — we’re talking lemon balm, pomegranate, rose buds, jojoba oil and essential fatty acids. It’s not fair to call this just a lipstick, clearly. We’ll add lip smoothing and conditioning to the list with a side of tastes great.

All of the above can be found at Vapour Beauty online, where there is practically limitless “stick” options.

Five Bronzers to Use All Summer

Happy Memorial Day! Hope you’ve all had a fabulous weekend. We’re taking a break from our holiday to report on one of the most important summer beauty topics, bronzer. We firmly believe that every woman needs a bronzer wardrobe for summer. No other beauty product gets as much mileage for me from now until Labor Day. Largely because the actual sun does not actually darken my skin — no, no, not going to let that happen. And I like options. Here are the five that are ruling my makeup bag this summer.

What's in Her Makeup Bag with Stark Skincare Founder Jessica Lafleur

We haven’t had the pleasure of meeting cool Canadian chick and Stark Skincare Founder Jessica Lafleur in person, but we already know we want to be besties with her.  We love her line of natural, organic skincare and the message it conveys: simplicity and purity. We also love her Pinterest boards, especially “My Man is Also My Living Doll, So?” Speaking of her man, she sent me her photo for this very post right here and the file name was called “MyLove.” It was from her husband’s computer. ADORABLE, right?  We don’t know much about Mr. Stark Skincare, but we like him, too.

Jessica graciously let us peek into her makeup bag. She’s the ultimate expert in organic ingredients and natural skincare, so we were thrilled to see what products she uses on a daily basis. Read on to the end, because Jessica also is asking everyone reading for some very important makeup advice!

Product Girl Green Guide: 6 Eco Beauty Must-Haves

With Earth Day right around the corner, Sunday, April 22, now seems like the natural time to share our top picks in eco beauty. All week long, we’ll be sharing our green recommendations in makeup, shower staples, skin care and more. Today, we’re bringing you our thoughts on eco-friendly makeup. Read on to find out about the perfect cheek color, an organic highlighter and the juiciest tinted lip balm that’s good for you, too.

1. Tarte gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara. Lashes are gifted with this mascara — healthier with each use and the appearance of majorly lengthened fringe (by 121% according to Tarte). Amazonian clay works to hydrate and repair lashes, and reads and treats your lash concerns giving you what you need (hence the “smart”) It’s all legit. We are huge fans of this at Product Girl. ($19, Tarte Cosmetics)

2. Josie Maran Argan Color Stick. Have you ever seen Josie demo these on QVC? Josie and her crew of models always look so radiant and healthy. That’s exactly the effect of the color stick – it brightens the complexion and cheeks are hydrated and dewy. Free of fragrance and parabens and full of essential oils, vitamin E and of course, argan oil. Rosey is the perfect shade for all skin tones, but we recommend trying them all (check out this sampler!) ($22, Josie Maran Cosmetics)

3. RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up. A foundation, concealer, skin healer all in one. RMS redefines makeup with this product, helping treat and nourish the skin where you need it most. Coverage is beautiful, all signs of sallowness, redness, blemishes and uneven skin tone are instantly gone. Blend with your fingers and watch “Un” Cover Up become your skin, but better. ($36, Spirit Beauty Lounge)

4. Vapour Organic Beauty Trick Sticks. Made with 70% certified organic ingredients and 30% natural mineral pigments and vitamins, think of these are the green version of a NARS Multiple. We like that they are tiny and can be used directly on the brow bone, inner corner of the eyes and just about anywhere you want to highlight on the face. ($20, Vapour Organic Beauty)

5. Alima Pure Nourishing Lip Balm. There’s many a tinted balms with peppermint oil out there, but we have a special spot for Alima. When you put these on, a rush of moisture fills lips and makes them looks super juicy. Not a surprise, since Alima formulates these with soothing antioxidants, organic plant oils and butters. Rhubarb is the perfect pink! ($7, Alima Pure)

6. EcoTools Mini Kabuki brushes. EcoTools uses earth-friendly, cruelty-free materials to make its brushes. These mini kabukis, part of a 4-piece set, are both the cutest brushes we might own and probably among the most used. Quality is gained with EcoTools, not sacrificed. Don’t you love when you get both effective and adorable? ($14.99,

Natural Beauty: Vapour Organic Beauty Aura Multi-Use Blush

I’m developing quite the penchant for natural beauty. Maybe it’s the years of breakouts from unknown synthetic ingredients or the desire to understand everything on the label, but it’s something that this Product Girl is becoming much more aware of lately. Plus, there are so many natural beauty companies out there that make amazing makeup and skincare. Case in point; Vapour Organic Beauty.

I’ve been quite smitten with Vapour’s Aura Multi-Use Blush. They remind me of another beauty product in a stick that I love (NARS Multiples!) but are made with 70% certified organic ingredients and 30% mineral pigments and vitamins. Vapour also infuses these sticks with frankincense, which acts as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant tulsi and lotus flowers, which are known to be moisturizing and calming.

Aura Multi-Use Blush
My favorite way to use the Aura Multi-Use is the traditional way: as a blush! I blend a fluffy blush brush over the product and then dust onto the cheeks. They blend well with the warmth of your fingertips, so I just toss in my bag if I feel like a touch-up later in the day.
L-R: Crush, Spark, Torch
These have a lovely creamy finish, and blend into the skin with no problem! While I’m partial to the baby pink Crush, I’ve been reaching for Spark almost every day! It’s a lovely coral that also has a bit of a gold illumination.
Vapour Aura Multi-Use Blushes are $28, and available online at Let us know if you’ve ever tried anything from Vapour, and if so, what’d ya think?
