It’s the season of the palette and Tarte has yet another limited edition palette in available only at Sephora.

As you may already know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. As part of that, we’ll be introducing you to products that support the cause… some old and some new.

You may have already heard of Tarte’s Inside Out lipstick, it’s a vitamin infused product powered by BORBA’s nutraceuticals. During the month of October, Tarte Cosmetics will donate 20% of the retail sales of this product in Sweet Dreams (or $4.40/lipstick) will go to the Young Survival Coalition. Tarte’s fall collection is named Health Couture because healthy skin is always in fashion. In August, Tarte is releasing an all natural version of their infamous cheek stains, a new collaboration with Borba and a fantastic palette. This stain is named Natural Beauty and it contains an antioxidant blend that includes blackberry, goji, acai, cranberry, pomegranate and currant. It has a natural scent derived from Cassis leaves and it also contains natural waxes and oils moisturize and hydrate skin. It’s preservative free and does not contain artificial coloring so this gives your skin a natural, sheer berry flush.

Move over lipgloss, Inside Out Lipstick is here. Just like the lipgloss, this lipstick feature’s Borba’s nutraceuticals so it’s actually good for you. It features Jojoba, shea butter and beeswax to moisturize lips, grape seed extract and vitamin C to accelerate production of natural elastin and a variety of other ingredients to soothes skin, strengthen capillary walls, reduce epidermal irritation and enhance skin’s clarity and radiance.

It comes in three shades: Sweet Dreams (dusty pink-rose), Zen (plum-berry) and Revive (true red). Also, a portion of the proceeds of the sales of Sweet Dreams will go to the Young Survival Coalition.

Inspired by New York and Paris Fashion Weeks, this new palette give you everything you need this fall. Wrapped in faux-croc, this palette features products to achieve two distinct looks including eyeshadow, lipstick and blush. It also includes a mini mascara, two mini eye brushes and a nude-pink eyeliner.

I Love New York features muted pink beige and muted peach-beige lipsticks, warm honey-peach blush and soft-shimmery bone, shimmery olive and deep-shimmery moss eyeshadows. Paris, Mon Amour features warm burgundy rose and currant red lipsticks, a rose coral blush and soft-shimmery pink, shimmery grey-purple and shimmery deep plum eyeshadows.

We all know that Tarte has the multi-tasking thing down. Here’s another product for your beauty product arsenal.

Tarte’s FRXtion is a lip balm and exfoliator in one with a little mirror to boot. On one side, you have a lip balm with jojoba and vitamin E to help condition lips. This lip balm is great, I only wish there was more of it so I could use it all the time… I tend to use it only when I’m exfoliating my lips so I use the product up evenly. The other side exfoliates with brown sugar to give you smooth lips. If you apply the lip balm on first, exfoliating your lips with the brown sugar side is more effective. As for the mirror, it’s conveniently built in to the lid so that it flips up when the lid is off.

This product also earned Tarte two awards. This year the product won a CEW Beauty Insider’s Award for lip treatments under $14 and a ICMAD CITY award for the Color Cosmetic Package Design Innovation. Need I say more?

As part of their new summer collection, Tarte introduced Lock and Roll. This product is a long lasting cream eyeshadow duo that comes in golden bronze shimmer and pale sage green shimmer shades. The green almost seems grey. This duo has a cream eyeshadow side and powder side. You start by applying the cream shadow and letting it dry for 10 seconds. Then you roll matching loose shadow on top. It’s the powder that sets the previously applied color and helps it last.

Normally I go into testing products like this just waiting for it to crease on my eyelids, checking the clock and a mirror obsessively. Usually, crease resistant usually does not mean much to me but this duo is a welcome exception. Not only did the product not crease on my lids for 9+ hours but the shadow’s intensity was practically still in tact. How often does that happen? One thing I thought was a little odd was the rollerball used to apply the powder. This tugged on my lids a little so I took the top off and just poured a little loose powder onto a brush, putting the rollerback back on afterwards. I think a sponge tip here would be better, gentler on the eyes at least. I have to say though, I would be hooked on this product if there were more shades.

Tarte, if you’re listening, we want more shades.

It was bound to happen, someone would somehow sneak something good for you into your lipgloss. Whle we’re not at the point where we can put on lipgloss instead of taking our vitamins, I’m happy that a company like Tarte has created a product that is one step closer to this.

In February, Tarte will be introducing it’s brand new vitamin infused lipgloss, Inside Out. In what as described as “long-lasting, moisturizing lip gloss”, this lipgloss uses Borba’s nutraceutical blend to deliver beauty from the inside out. I wonder what inspired the name of the product. This lipgloss contains acai and green tea extract, grapeseed extract, lychee extract and vitamins A, C, E and K. As for shades, this lip gloss comes in Apple-a-Day, Liquid Sunshine and Om, all of them shimmering shades of hot pink, pale link and nude. I can’t wait to try these!

Blessed be airport wifi…

I was watching Maureen Kelly (she was so cute!) on QVC last week and I was reminded of why I love her line of products so much… and I should have mentioned their cheek stains a long time ago.

I know that this product is not new but I want to go on the record as officially loving this product. Being a fan of all things stain, this type of product is right up my alley. I reach for a cheek stain on those days when I don’t want to wear a lot of makeup… just a little concealer, some color on my lips and little glow on my cheeks. This product is so easy to use, just dab it on the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards. It provides sheer, oil-free and long lasting color on your cheeks. I love how this gives my skin a dewy look, it’s a great way to achieve a natural look. It also smells delicious, my sense of smell is happy every time I put this on.

While I’ve been a lip stain addict for quite awhile, I had my first experience with a lip plumper only a few months ago. Normally I’m quite happy with my lips but there are times when you need to make them as plump as possible. Leave it to Tarte to create another multi-purpose product like Rise and Shine, a lip plumping stain.

The first thing I love about Rise and Shine is the shade I tried, Cherry. I have been looking for other red stains and was happy to see this shade. On the stain side, you have a nice pinkish red lip stain that is waterproof. On lip plumper side, you have a sheer red gloss that balances the lip stain and plays up the red in the stain nicely. After applying the stain to the lips a few times to build the color, I applied the gloss so it could do it’s thing… and it did. I’ve tried other “lip plumpers” and I didn’t feel a thing, MAC’s Plushglass is a good example of this. With this one however, I immediately felt my lips tingle. To be sure, I took pictures of my lips before and after and I was happy to find that indeed, my lips were a bit plumper. The sensation was a bit strong but it didn’t last very long and I didn’t mind it at all. Tarte, if you’re listening, more shades please!

Until recently, I had very little first hand experience with Tarte products. Now that I have dived into the wonderful world of Tarte, I was happy to discover that practically every product serves more than one purpose. That’s the genius of this product line… it’s practical and it’s cute.

The Little Blot Book is no exception. It’s a convenient product that combines mattifying powder, brush and blotting papers in one very cute package. You can use a blotting paper and then pick up any remaining shine with a few sweeps of the brush with mattifying powder. The powder appears to be white but you won’t look like a ghost when you brush it on. The powder is translucent so brush away and absorb that pesky shine with no fear. I’ve started carrying this in my makeup bag and I’m not alone. If nothing else, someone’s bound to ask you where you got that cute Little Blot Book.
