October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and many companies show their support by donating proceeds from special edition “pink” products towards breast cancer research. Even though October is almost over, there’s still time for some pink power. Here’s a few of our favorite “pink” beauty buys for 2010.
Stila released a special palette in their travel series, Empowered in Pink. It is available at Ulta this October. For $10, you get a convertible color and four eyeshadows.

Ulta now has the exclusive Stila Natural Beauty Eyeshadow palette online and in stores. This new 13-shadow palette is only $22 and perfect for the gal who’s all about the neutrals. I had my hands on this yesterday and really liked it, there’s a great mix of mattes and shimmers in this palette. There are also a few shades in this palette that can help you go above and beyond the everyday neutral eye… I’m looking at you, shimmering peach in the top left corner.
It was hard to walk away from this palette but I managed to do it having just moved in to a new apartment replaced my need for makeup with home furnishings instead… but I’m hoping one of you will scoop it up.
One of our favorite palettes for summer is easily Stila’s Pro Artist Palette. It was already a great deal at $28, but it’s a steal now at $19.99. Stila’s eye shadows are so smooth and a dream to work with. I’m especially smitten with the purple shade, Moxie, which is exclusive to this palette. Check out Carla’s swatches for a closer look!
God bless Stila, they keep putting out interesting and well done products! Today they are introducing their limited edition Stila Girl Travel palettes. The palettes are part of their Road to Radiance Across the USA series and a new palette will be introduced each month now until December. For only $10 each, you can definitely afford to collect each one, right?
The first palette is inspired by Kyley’s road trip across the US and includes 4 eyeshadows in Snow Bunny (shimmery champagne), Southern Belle (mauve), Valley Girl (pink) and City Chick (alloy) and 1 Convertible Color in Hibiscus. I’m loving the colors in this palette so I’m definitely in…are you?
Stila has a very cool promotion going on right now with its makeup player, which made waves when it launched due to its functionality as a vanity, makeup bag and video and music player. Until now, it came with a pre-determined array of Stila products but now you have the option to create your own! It’s simple. Go to Stila’s wesbite, add $70 worth of Stila product to your shopping cart and enter code MUPLAYER at checkout and the makeup player will automatically appear in your order at no additional cost.
What would you add to your makeup player? I’d definitely go for some of the value sets – the Barbie Loves Stila Smudge Pot trio is still available for $20 and the It Girl Palette with three shimmering neutrals (kitten included!) is only $10. And if you haven’t checked out any of Stila summer, this is a great opportunity. Smudgesticks anyone? And Raspberry Crush is a summer must-have for us!
First came Stila’s One Step Makeup foundation, now there’s Stila One Step PrimeColor. Stila took the next step and created another multi-tasker; a primer and color for lips, cheeks and eyes in a tube. You have to hand it to the creative minds at Stila, we heart them for thinking outside the box with this one.
Stila’s One Step PrimeColor can be your primer, your lipstick, your blush or your eyeshadow. The product is packed with pigment and comes in a nice range of shades; a few for your eyes and face and more for lips and cheeks. How long it lasts you depends on how you use it. I’ve been using it on my lips and cheeks and Laurie has been using it as a primer and highlighter in the Kitten shade. She’s going through more of the product in one usage than I am, but for me a little goes a long way.
From Left to Right: Kitten, Rosie Posie, Pop of Pink, Capri Coral, Per Suede, Bronze Babe
I tried Rosie Posie and Capri Coral. The shades are matte and semi-opaque on the lips. They dry lighter than what they appear to be in the tube so so you may want to try a darker shade, that’s what I will be doing when I pick another one up (I’m thinking Per Suede). It wears well and when on the lips, doesn’t dry them out. Exfoliated lips are a must though, otherwise this will highlight any rough spots.
Of the colors, Kitten is the only highlighting shade and Laurie tried some different things with this one. This is very pretty as a highlight shade on the cheekbones and works well both under and over foundation. Also, it is very useful on eyelids, but if you have very oily lids (we’re raising our hand to this) you probably need another primer underneath. Might seem counterintuitive given the one-step, but we didn’t mind.
Have you tried a Stila One Step PrimeColor yet? What did you think? Let us know in the comments!
Stila Kitten is probably one of the most iconic beauty products out there today. The classic shimmering pink nude is basically a jack of all trades and has appeared in the product line in many different ways. It’s one of those shades I will never get tired of and I’m always excited to see new iterations appear! You could say I’m a wee bit obsessed….
Kitten is a shimmering gloss, a lip glaze, a primer – basically everything, but I love it most on the eyes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful on the lips, but most of my kitten adventures are all about the eyes. One of my all-time faves is the Kitten Palette from the summer of ’08. Yes, it’s shimmery and even a bit frosty, but for all the palettes Kitten appears in this one reigns as top dog. It’s probably cruel to dangle limited edition Stila Kitten, but a blast from the past is sometimes a great thing, right?
I swatched three products to show you not all Kitten is necessarily created equal. Which is why it’s OK to populate your makeup bag with as much Kitten as possible. From left to right, the Silk Eye Shadow Wash, the Smudge Pot and the (regular) eyeshadow. The Silk Eye Shadow Wash isn’t blended down heavily, but it’s more of a gold kitten whereas the Smudge Pot is a toned-down, less frosty version. It’s one of my favorite eye bases and I use it constantly. Really, what’s not to love about Kitten?
Now it’s your turn to share some Kitten adventures – are you Kitten-obsessed? Let’s chat about it!
We Heart Stila this week and in keeping with our theme, I wanted to tell you about my new eyeshadow obsession. I am all about the new Stila Pro Artist palette right now… I kid you not. This palette includes three of Stila’s best selling eyeshadows… yes, this includes Kitten, the infamous eyeshadow shade that spawned the glosses and smudge pots. It also includes three new gorgeous shades for you to play with.
From Top to Bottom, Left to Right: Lucky, Moxie, Prize, Sparkle, Kitten and Grand
I am loving this palette for summer. The new Stila Pro Artist palette is also a great way to try some of Stila’s eyeshadow staples. Stila’s eyeshadows are solid, they are so soft and well pigmented with a satin finish. The first 4 shades can work for everyday wear then the other 2 shades give you some flexibility. The gorgeous turquoise and purple shades let you play with the palette and be a little bolder. Of course, Kitten is a definite asset in this palette but I think the real star of the show is the new Grand eyeshadow. The satin taupe eyeshadow is just gorgeous… a little bit of this in the crease and you are set!
By the way! This weekend I’m heading to New York for the Makeup Show and on Saturday, I’m interviewing the lovely and talented Sarah Lucero, Stila’s celebrity makeup artist. Have a question for Sarah? Leave a comment and you may see her answer your question in my upcoming interview.
Right now Stila is my lip stain pusher… they keeping tempting me with new stains and now they added a new member to the Crush family and it’s called Raspberry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain.
Like it’s Yumberry and Mango sisters, this new stain is a little on the opaque side with a pinch of shimmer. It is great on the cheeks. It blends well and just a little bit gives skin a gorgeous flush like you were suddenly blushing or just went for a run. Then on lips it is completely buildable and beautifully vibrant. Out of all of the Crush Lip and Cheek Stains I have tried from Stila, this one gives you more coverage like a lipstick than any other has.
The Raspberry Crush shade is gorgeous for summer. This swatch here should give you an idea of just how vibrant this shade is, we are completely in love with here at Product Girl. Its bright pink jewel tone will look absolutely amazing on tan summer skin and will warm up even the fairest skin.
Are you crushing on the new Stila Raspberry Crush Lip and Cheek stain? You can find it in stores and online now.
