CHI Smart Volumizing Styling Iron & Sarah Potempa BEACHWAVER Rotating Curling Iron

qvc-stylers

Finally, we come to the CHI Smart Volumizing Styling Iron and Sarah Potempa Beachwaver Rotating Curling Iron part of our Best Hair Tools test drive for the QVC Customer's Choice Beauty Awards. Voting ends tonight so if you're a fan of any of the products we've covered today, show the brands some love and vote. The winners will be revealed online throughout the day on October 17 and on air during a special show from 9pm–Midnight ET. A lot of my favorites are nominated, are yours?

A styling iron is just an essential these days and CHI is one of the best brands on the market making flat irons, they are one of the originals. A CHI is iconic really, I remember a CHI styling iron being a tool that only stylists had because they were so expensive. Thankfully they are accessible to everyone thanks to a more affordable price tag… and the occasional Easy Pay offer on QVC. Then we have a new twist on the traditional curling iron, one that makes curling your hair less of a challenging task. I say this being one of those women who has always struggled with curling my hair and making it look GOOD. Now beach worthy waves are easier than ever.

Product Girl Favorites of 2012

2012-Favorite-Beauty-Products

It’s time for a beauty year in review.  Trust us, picking just 10 favorites for an entire year was no easy feat. We discovered a plethora of new brands and fell in love with so much. These 10 favorites are the products we use constantly. The ones that really stand out and we would buy over and over again!

BECCA Bolero Mineral Blush is a flattering terracotta shade that doubles as a bronzer. It’s my perfect cheek.

This bright cobalt Essie Butler Please nail polish is stunning and a newer discovery!  I’m confident I will wear this constantly in 2013.

Every morning starts with a cup of coffee and One Love Organics Morning Glory serum. It contains a ton of antioxidant power and perk-up ingredients like peppermint oil.

Highlighters are a Product Girl’s best friend and we are partial to the pale bronzy gold Benefit Sun Beam.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pad for Body just make everything look and feel tighter and naturally tanned. Like an Rx for the Vitamin D deficient.

Hands down, my favorite shadow of 2012: NARS Vent Glace Duo Eyeshadow

Still mystified by the brightening powers of Bare Escentuals Well Rested Face & Eye Brightener.

Melvita Orange Blossom Extraordinary Water brings me to a happy place and is always step one in my skin care routine, day and night.

The perfect top knot achieved with Sarah Potempa The Wrap-Up. And low bun, messy undone bun, etc. It does it all and perfectly.

NARS Mexican Rose Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil is the longest wearing lip product I’ve ever worn (and it’s not technically a stain!) I always have a good day when wearing this gorgeous bright pink.

Any favorites you’d like to share? Let us know your thoughts on 2012 standout beauty!

Holiday Gift Guide: The Product Girl

We hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! This time of the year is the best, and we’re soaking up every bit of holiday cheer that comes our way. Sharing it, too! We’re kicking off our holiday gift guides this week — our top picks for all the girls and guys in your life. Today, we’re starting with The Product Girl. Somewhat of our personal wish list and also filled with some of our favorite beauty musts.

Fragrance is such a personal thing, and that’s exactly the basis behind MCMC Fragrances. Founder Anne McClain captures life’s personal stories and memories in a scent. I discovered MCMC Fragrance PHOENIX in my Birchbox, and am putting the full-size bottle on my holiday wish list! It’s grounded in vanilla and neroli and I can’t wait to wear it all winter long.

Speaking of Birchbox, a subscription is at the top of our gift guide! It’s one of our favorite things every month, the perfect gift for all of the Product Girls in your life. There’s 3, 6 and 12-month gift subscriptions, but we’re obsessing over the Birchbox Ultimate Collection which comes with five beauty treats in addition to the monthly delivery.

We love this Bauble Bar + K Kane Mini Rose Gold Mini Initial Pendant! Bauble Bar’s collabs just keep getting better (hello, Essie!). The rose gold is a nice alternative as is the cursive lettering. There’s just something about anything initialed or monogrammed that is always desired!

This Kate Spade ‘mani pedi’ iPad Folio speaks to us and we’re guessing all of the product gals out there. I mean, have truer words ever been spoken?

One can never have enough Fresh. Fresh Sugar Soiree contains all 8 of these coveted balms. We love these minis so much, since they are literally the same packaging as the original just on a smaller scale. You don’t ever have to sacrifice the luxe for the mini with Fresh.

It’s a known fact. Product Girls love their beauty gadgets, which is why the Sarah Potempa Beachwaver would be the ultimate gift. This is one of our favorite launches of 2012! It creates the most perfect beachy waves with the click of a button.

Check back tomorrow for more holiday gift inspiration.

Beauty.com Friends and Family Sale

Tis the season for Friends & Family sales. If you’re a planner like we fancy ourselves to be, you’ll take advantage of these opportunities to snag some amazing holiday gifts. And maybe a little treat for yourself, too. Beauty.com has its 20% F&F sale going on through Friday, November 9, and it’s definitely worth checking out. They’ve added a ton of new brands to the site, many that don’t normally go on sale. We were excited to see the luxe Sunday Riley, organic powerhouse Vapour and hair genius Sarah Potempa (Beachwaver, anyone?)!

Here’s our top Beauty.com F&F picks!

bareMinerals Light Up The Room Collection ($39), a.k.a. Do it for the Well-Rested Face & Eye Brightener (raves seen here previously). We also love the Renew & Hydrate Eye Cream, Illuminating Mineral Veil and Prime Time Brightening Eyelid Prime with its pretty gold sheen action.

Rahua Shampoo ($32, 9.3 oz) has been on my radar forever. It has a cult following of sorts (especially in the natrual and I’ve only heard amazing things. Time to try, right? It’s 100% natural with coconut and shea butters and even some quinoa to help with moisture retention.

Sarah Potempa Mini “Touch Up” Iron ($35), Discovering Sarah Potempa, celeb hair guru and creator of the most user-friendly tools for us gals at home, was a highlight of 2012 for me. I’m sure her mini flat iron, coated with ceramic and tourmaline, obviously, will be a travel and gym bag staple for me. Totally loving the case, too!

Mally High Shine Liquid Lipstick Trio ($30) is so very gorgois , as Ms. Mally would say. Breaks down to $10 per tube pre-discount, so it’s a no-brainer must. Mally’s liquid lipstick is one of the best and these colors are so wearable. A great gift for any woman in your life.

Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer ($48), is a product I’ve been very curious about. It’s a multi-purpose primer/skin plumper with peptides and Rejuvenox that basically keeps skin breathing and drenched in oxygen. The presence of a tint gives me hope that this could work in place of foundation on some days!

Beauty VIP of the Week: Sarah Potempa "The Wrap-Up"

Meet Sarah Potempa’s “The Wrap-Up.” This bendy little contraption is the key to a perfect bun. Be it a chic top knot, a low bun or even a cute tousled, messy-ish “up-do,” The Wrap-Up can do it. Our first experience with Sarah Potempa and her brills Beachwaver Curling Iron (see here for our review) prompted us to immediately try every device she makes. Miss Potempa is the best thing to happen to my hair this year. The Wrap-Up is far easier for me to use than a sock to achieve the perfect bun. For the life of me, I cannot roll and tuck that sock. But I’ve mastered The Wrap-Up. It’s simple.

Or, you could just watch this video for a visual tutorial. I can’t get enough of this, which is why it is this week’s Beauty VIP. The proof is in the pictures….

Must-Have Hair Tool: Sarah Potempa Beachwaver

The Beachwaver. It’s as intriguing as it sounds. I so appreciate the verbing of the most on-trend and flattering hair style right now. We have the brilliant celebrity hair stylist Sarah Potempa to thank for making The Beachwaver a reality. In fact, she (and her sister/partner-in-crime Erin) worked on perfecting The Beachwaver for two years. She created the look on her clients and saw a need to create a tool that would make it easy for people to achieve this style on their own.

We’re going to go as far and say this styling tool is life changing. The challenges of a curling wand (while I do love them) are apparent —the time it takes, the angle it takes to get the curls just right and especially the burns I seem to amass on a weekly basis on my hands and arms. Seriously – what is my issue?
