Prescriptives has blown me away with this one. I find myself wanting it all! How are you feeling about this one?
Prescriptives introduced a beautiful Pink Ribbon Palette for Cheeks and Eyes in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. It features four eye colors and two cheek colors all bundled in an adorable pink compact.
We think the Pink Ribbon Palette would make a great gift – or present for yourself! It’s so girly! And this one’s bittersweet, given that Prescriptives will cease production next year.
Prescriptives will donate $20,000 from sales of this product to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. You can find it online or at Prescriptives counters for $48.
I understand that there’s a time and place for taking things slow- on a first date, cutting off 6 inches or more of hair, buying a house. But when it comes to perfect skin? I don’t wanna wait around for that. And Prescriptives gets that. In fact, they’ve named a product after me – Instant Gratification. This all-in-one micro dermabrasion-peel comes pretty freaking close (in my opinion) to replicating a professional treatment at home. Plus, it’s oil free and non-acnegenic – both good things.
Slather a thick layer of the white scrub onto damp skin, rubbing it on with your finger tips. The product will warm up on your skin which feels incredibly luxurious. Relax with the mask on for about 5 minutes – your face will tingle and remain warm. Then re-wet your fingertips and massage for 30 seconds, focusing on any especially dry or uneven patches. You can use this mask once a week and follow it up with your usual skincare routine.
This skin renewal peel is ah-mazing. Seriously. I have sensitive skin, complete with a tendency toward mild rosacea flare ups whenever anything too abrasive comes near my face (or when I drink too much red wine). So I’m always on the look out for an exfoliant that won’t make my skin angry. Instant Gratification fits the bill – it’s an easy to use microdermabrasion scrub that whisks away tired skin cells, uncovering smooth, glowy skin underneath.
The only potential downside is the scent- while it is technically fragrance-free, there is still a somewhat evident medicinal smell. Doesn’t bother me, but if you’re sensitive to stuff like that, you might want to sniff at the counter before shelling out the $45.
As handy as I am with makeup, I’ve never been able to master a convincing smokey eye. Typically my attempts to create a smoldering, sexy come-hither look end up with some seriously red, irritated eyes thanks to all the poking and pulling with various pencils and brushes. When creating big-night-out makeup, I usually go minimal on the eyes and play up my lips. But the desire to channel Debbie Harry in all her sooty glory has never faded.
When Prescriptives’ new Colorscope Creamy Eye Color in Smoking Gun landed in my makeup bag, I was both intrigued and skeptical. The steel gray cream, generously flecked with gold sparkle, looked muddy and dull in the small pot. It still looked dark and unappealing on my finger after I dipped it in the pot. But the eye color transforms into an incredibly wearable sheer wash of color on the eyelid. The glitter is evident, so this is not day-time appropriate. The application is fantastic- it goes on smoothly with a brush but I like the down and dirty ease of smudging the creamy shadow on with my fingers.
Colorscope Creamy Eye Color can be worn alone, and comes in shades ranging from neutral nudes to the darker Smoking Gun. The formula is long wearing and serves as a great base for layering powder shadows over it. I created my perfect smokey eye by adding Bobbi Brown’s Mahogany shadow – a very dark brown- to the crease of my eyelids and then blending like crazy. I was expecting the Creamy Eye Color to pull double duty as a liner with my liner brush, but I found the formula to be too sheer to make it worth my while. No matter – me and my Debbie Harry fantasies are officially grateful to have found this product.

I have a problem with rubbing my eyes. When I’m wearing eye makeup, I often forget I have it on and rub my eyes. It’s only once I’m rubbing my eye that I remember “oh! I have makeup on”. The result is often smudged mascara and it never occurred to me to try a waterproof mascara to try and tame this problem. Once I tried this mascara, I was a believer.
Prescriptives Here to Stay 24-Hour Longwear Mascara lives up to it’s name and I’m not alone on this one, some other gals feel the same way. I haven’t been a fan of the type of wand this mascara features but once I began using it, I forgot why I had a problem with it in the first place. Each time I apply this product, it goes on clump free and the bristles separate my lashes well. I usually have a problem with mascara flaking off during the day onto my lower eye area. This mascara makes this a thing of the past. Best of all, I’ve caught myself mid eyerubbing and the mascara didn’t budge.
This made me want to see what it would look like if I didn’t take it off at night. I woke up expecting to see these horrible raccoon eyes in the mirror but surprisingly, the mascara held up pretty well. My lashes still appeared to have some color and separation to them and there was very little smudging. Makes me wonder what it would really be like if I wasn’t such a crazy sleeper.
