It’s easy to understand why more people start a new diet in January than in any other month, all those new year resolutions! So Philosophy has introduced a new shower gel set called A Diet You Can Live With. No calories here, just a treat for your senses.
Philosophy’s A Diet You Can Live With set includes three 6 oz. shower gels in Pink Frosted Layer Cake, Creme Brulee and Classic Fudge Cake. I’m a sucker for Creme Brulee, maybe smelling like it is the next best thing to eating it.
Stay tuned for a new giveaway starting next with this set and more from Philosophy.
Have you shopped pink in October yet? We haven’t either but that’s ok! We’re still in time and there are plenty of Pink products out there worth picking up to support the cause. We’ll be talking about these products from here on out for the month of October.
Here’s a product to get you off to a good start…
Philosophy’s Shower for the Cure Shower Gel will help get you get in a charitable mood from the moment you step into the shower. Every year Philosophy releases this shower gel and 100% of the net proceeds from this product are donated to the Women’s Cancer Research Fund. This shower gel’s scent is very different from the line’s infamous Amazing Grace or themed shower gels, this is a much stronger floral. Like the line’s other shower gels, this shower gel is also a shampoo and bubble bath.
In addition to the Shower for the Cure shower gel, Philosophy has also released She Colors My Day Bubble Bath and the She Colors My Day Duo.
This release also benefits the Women’s Cancer Research Fund. It was inspired by Philosophy founder Cristina Carlino’s daughter’s artwork and celebrates the special relationship between mother and daughter. The bubble bath features a clean, fresh scent and the duo includes a special keepsake gift and a sketch book. Check out the She Colors My Day website to create your own slideshow and to download the special She Colors My Day single written by Cristina Carlino and Stuart Mathis and performed by Amy Grant.
Check back with us next week as we’ll be giving away one of these very special Philosophy Shower for the Cure Shower Gels!
Did the summer just fly by you in the blink of an eye? It did for me too but I’m just fine with that because my favorite time of year is almost here. Not only is October my birthday month but it starts getting cooler, all the colors of fall start to emerge and of course we have Halloween. This year Philosophy has a new set to help us get in the Halloween spirit, their new Haunted House set.
Philosophy’s Haunted House set includes three 6 oz. bottles of their treat themed 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel and bubble baths in Black Licorice, Caramel Apple and Pumpkin Spice Muffin. You can also get these scents in individual 16 oz. bottles if you like. Interestingly enough, did you know that studies show that the aroma of black licorice and pumpkin pie spice are among the top scents that turn women on? I can see why pumpkin spice would do that but black licorice?
When Philosophy’s new Hope in a Jar with SPF 20 came out, I was pretty excited to try it. I was a fan of the original product and thought I couldn’t go wrong with the new and improved version.
Unfortunately, this SPF version of Hope in a Jar is not for me. While Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar with SPF 20 looks and smells just like it’s predecessor, it is not exactly the same. The consistency in this moisturizer is a little thicker than before. It seemed fluffy as if this moisturizer was whipped and that didn’t make for a good application for me. I found that it never seemed to fully absorb into my skin and left it feeling pretty greasy right off the bat. I didn’t have this problem before and it wasn’t one I’d put up with for very long. A few days after picking up a full size jar at Sephora, I went back to exchange it for the original Hope in a Jar and some Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 30. I found that worked out much better for me.
For fans of the original Hope in a Jar, I’d suggest asking for a sample of this product before shelling out your $45.
Now there’s a new reason to get out of bed in the morning, Philosophy’s new Breakfast in Bed Shower Gel set. If you added some eggs, bacon or sausage and you have a complete breakfast.
Thank goodness those aren’t really Philosophy scents because then we might have to worry a little, but you get where I’m going with this… right? This new set contains three 6 oz. shower gels in Belgian Waffles, Cafe au Lait and Fresh Cream, each one with a completely decadent scent to it. My favorite one so far is Belgian Waffles, how can you not love that smell of sweet waffle batter? Each scent is so rich you can almost taste it. The good thing is you can pretend you had a big breakfast without any of the calories. You can find this set at Sephora now.
Philosophy has released some new gift sets that are perfect to give for any occasion. In my family, we’ve given gift sets to each other and others for a few years now so I always love hearing about new gift sets they release.
A little Bubbly is a great way to say “Congratulations” to someone. For $20 you get a huge 24 oz. bottle of this bubble bath and shower gel scent. It’s somewhat new, it hasn’t been around too long. The scent smells great though, it’s like sipping on a Mimosa at brunch. There’s champagne and a little citrus scent add to this shower gel as well. For me, this makes it a great morning scent… something I can wake up to.
Ever give a gift for no reason at all? If so, you may want to take a look at the new Just Because gift set. For $30.00 you get 6 oz. bottles of bubble bath and shower gel in Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate and Dark Chocolate. While the White Chocolate smells a bit more like hazelnut, the Milk and Dark Chocolate ones do not disappoint. They are creamy and give you a nice lather. For those gals who stick to the Philosophy staples like Amazing and Pure Grace, this would be a good set to try out. I was one of those gals until recently.
Then of course there is the gift set containing Philosophy’s best selling and staple bubble bath and shower gels, Amazing Grace and Pure Grace. The Thank You gift set includes 8 oz. bottles in each set for $25. If you’re not familiar with these scents, Amazing Grace is a very soft floral and Pure Grace is a very soft, clean, soapy scent. Also, Pure Grace is a shower cream so it’s going to moisturize your skin a bit more and you wouldn’t want to use this on your hair. This gift set is a great way to convert your friends and family into Philosophy girls as well. For Christmas, I gave my boss an Amazing Grace soap duo, I think this year I’ll go for these shower gels.
Radical skin care treatments are a hot topic within the beauty industry . There are a lot of options out there for women looking to undo sun damage, treat fine lines and wrinkles, and generally rejuvenate the look and feel of their skin. I’m just hitting a period in my life when those concerns are popping up every morning in the mirror. I’m not ready to hit the dermatologist for Botox or other in-office treatments, but I do want to start treating and preventing the inevitable signs of aging.
To get started, I’ve been using Philosophy’s Microdelivery Peel Kit. Philosophy got its start developing professional treatments (such as the in-office microdermabrasion machine), but has branched out to create a range of products designed to get big results in the comfort of your bathroom. The Microdelivery Peel Kit contains a hearty exfoliant to resurface the skin and a combination of peptides and Vitamin C to brighten the skin.
Start by massaging the yellow exfoliating grains onto your skin in a circular motion. Focus on dry spots or any other areas of uneven tone. Massage away for two minutes with the tips of your fingers, being careful not to apply enough pressure to be irritating. Then pour a quarter-size amount of the peptide lotion onto your fingertips and massage into skin for one minute. On contact, your skin will begin to feel warm – although not uncomfortably so. After a total of three minutes, wash face and moisturize as usual.
After one use, my face was softer and a little brighter. After a month, my skin tone was more even and radiant. It retains moisture better than before – a huge bonus in getting through these dry winter months. I’m extremely happy with the results of Philosophy’s Microdelivery Peel Kit and always look forward to my 3-minute makeover.
Sometimes it seems that I cannot get enough of Philosophy’s Amazing Grace so it’s a good thing Nordstrom’s has these 32oz. shower gels and body emulsion as part of their anniversary… I’d rather pick them up instead of ordering them through QVC, being the non-internet shopper that I am. I certainly plan on stocking up once this hits stores. You can also get a deluxe 32oz. Purity Made Simple and a 4oz. Hope in a Jar moisturizer. You can pre-order all of this now.
What’s pink, tangy and a great way to wake up in the morning? Philosophy’s new Pink Lemonade collection, available now at Nordstrom’s and online at philosophy.com. This new scent smells so good, it smells just like the pink lemonade I would drink when I was a kid. I love a little citrus in the shower so this makes it a great scent to wake up to for me. For those of us wanting to layer the scent, there’s also a Pink Lemonade Body Butter, Pink Lemonade Hot Salt Tub and Shower Scrub, Pink Lemonade Moisturizing Hand Cream and a Pink Lemonade Flavored Lip Shine available. I think it’s safe to say this officially now, I am addicted to Philosphy products. This shower gel and seeing the new Pure Grace Soap Duo now in stores made my week.
I didn’t know that I would be taking such a long break from this blog when I published my last entry but that’s how it ended up working out, it’s just something that happened. However, I’m coming back now and what better way than to let you know about my favorite things for 2006? All the cool kids are doing it.
Here are a few of my favorites products I discovered this year, my six for ’06…
From the moment I smelled this perfume, it was love at first sniff. I love powdery scents and this is a great everyday scent for me. It features base notes of musk, vanilla and sandalwood. It also features top notes of lemon and bergamot. All of these notes work beautifully together. This scent has lead me to try more of Creative Scentualization’s perfumes and I’m already hooked. You can find Perfect Veil at La Creme Beauty.
I’m all about low maintenance beauty and this is one of my all time favorite products. I only discovered it this year and it’s replaced every other lip stain I have. Cupid’s Breath and Liquid Kiss are my favorite shades, both are variations of red. The color of your lips can be as low-key or intense as you want it to be, this product provides great buildable color. You can find Vincent Longo’s Lip & Cheek Gel Stain at Sephora.
I can’t thank Colleen enough for mentioning this product to me. This product contains glycolic acid and actually exfoliates all the icky dead skin on your feet. Try slathering this on your feet and cover them up with some nice thick socks for a few nights straight and you’ll be amazed when you finally take a rasp to your feet. You can find Philosophy’s Soul Owner at Sephora.
This is the product that inspired me to try and make my own whipped shea butter. It’s the best I have ever tried… it’s not greasy, has a nice texture to it and smelled so good that I almost wanted to lick myself. You can find Product Body’s Whipped Shea Butter at Product Body.
I seem to be drawn to highlighting products, this one was no exception. I love the lovely pink glow that this product gives my skin. In a sea of gold or silver based highlighters, a pink highlighter with hints of blue is a refreshing change. It’s opened my mind to other highlighting possibilities. You can find Duwop’s Ice at Sephora.
Being a girl with a love for eyeshadow, I couldn’t leave this one off my list. I love everything about these eyeshadows… the bold colors, texture, pigmentation and presentation. What’s not to like? I cannot wait until new shades come out in spring, including new neutral colors. You can find Urban Decay’s Deluxe Eyeshadow at Sephora.
