We love Philosophy for so many reasons, and the Unconditional Love fragrance is one of them. Carla was excited when this was released last spring and it even made our Best of 2009 list! And now it’s available in a three-piece layering collection featuring a full-sized 3-in-1 shower gel, 4 oz. body butter and a 2 oz. spray in a reusable box.
The Unconditional Love trio is currently available at Nordstrom’s for $50.
It was only a matter of time before Philosophy used their infamous Grace line as inspiration for a makeup collection and part of me wonders: what took so long? As a gal with an old school Philosophy eyeshadow still in her collection (don’t worry, I don’t use it but I can’t bear to throw it away… I am a beauty hoarder!), I love seeing Philosophy introduce more makeup. Their Color of Grace collection is making its debut for spring and it is a pink lovers dream! You can order the order the collection from QVC now.
Here’s what is in this collection:
The Coloring Book is back! This time the Philosophy Color of Grace Coloring Book Perfect Pink Face Palette is available for spring. It includes 2 eyeshadows, 2 lip glosses, cream illuminator, powder blush and a shimmering face powder (see below) scented with the Amazing Grace fragrance.
The Philosophy Color of Grace Art of Blush Pink Dream Blush has 3 shades of pink blush and each shade is surrounded by a highlighting shade so you can blend the shades together and get a touch of luminosity or wear each shade alone.
The Philosophy Color of Grace Angel Kiss Perfect Pink Lip Gloss Trio is scented with vanilla mint so it freshens your breath as it makes your lips shine.
The Philosophy Color of Grace Shimmering Pink All Over Face Powder is the same product in the Coloring Book above but if you want more, this is for you. It is also lightly scented with Philosophy’s Amazing Grace scent. This one is definitely going in my shopping cart.
Finally, the Philosophy Color of Grace Heavenly Light Pink Illuminator is a cream highlighter with a brush tip applicator that twists around to prevent any product from accidentally coming through the tip. Very smart! I ordered this before Christmas and it’s actually a very light illuminator, it gives skin a glow without the obvious shimmer.
So what do you think? Are you tempted by the Philosophy Color of Grace collection? What will you be picking up? Let us know in the comments.
Right now we’re all about the pumpkin here at Product Girl so we thought we’d share pumpkin-inspired picks for the month.
- MyChelle Incredible Pumpkin Peel – this organic peel does wonders for your skin! It is a pumpkin, pineapple and ginger puree means business as it exfoliates skin and dissolves all the impurities away. For me, this stuff seriously rivals ExfoliKate and it is easier on my wallet.
- Desert Essence Organics Pumpkin Hand Repair Cream – how often do you see a pumpkin scented hand cream? Never! I love the scent, it’s not overly sweet or spicy, it’s just natural…. just pumpkin with a hint of spice for good measure. After all, what’s pumpkin without cinnamon? This line’s hand cream is fantastic. The thin, creamy texture is absorbed instantly into the skin and does not leave hands feeling greasy whatsoever. Plus, with continued use, the condition of the skin improves over time.
- Slatkin & Co. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Home Fragrance Oil – again, what is pumpkin without cinnamon? I love the oils at Bath & Body Works to give my apartment a little ambiance and this one is a great one for fall and winter. Plus the scent is currently available in other products such as diffusers, wall plugins, candles and even bath and body products. I prefer the home fragrance oils because it lasts longer and it fills up a room better.
- Philosophy Pumpkin Spice Muffin Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath – Philosophy’s shower gels are a bath ritual for Laurie and this scent smells like a pumpkin pie baking right in your bathroom, yum! And the lip gloss, well that’s like eating pumpkin pie. Even better…
- Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte – We love Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes! They may be the forgotten latte now, given the red cups have pushed them out of the way but fear not, they still make them!
What are your favorite pumpkin products? Tell us about it in the comments. And pumpkin pie doesn’t count… we all love pumpkin pie.
Happy Halloween to everyone! Don’t you love that Halloween falls on a Saturday this year? In honor of today, I’m injecting a little Halloween into my beauty routine. First up? A bubble bath with Philosophy Trick or Treat.
Philosophy is the master of creating seasonal scents that work. They aren’t overly fragrant or indulgent. They’re just right. And the Trick or Treat duo contains two scents that capture this time of year perfectly, Pumpkin Spice and Caramel Apple. Literally, these scents are autumn in a bottle. But, beware, side effects are increased desire to bake, rake leaves and constantly smell yourself. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

I have spent allot of time in the sun this summer (I know, shame on me) and even got a pretty bad burn which just really sucked the life out of my skin and made it really itchy. The body lotion that saved my scaly parched skin is Philosophy’s When Hope is Not Enough Body Lotion.
I have to say that I really hoped it would work and in this case, hope is definitely enough. Maybe they should change the name? I started using this product and not only did it quench my thirsty skin but it really soothed and calmed my red itchy sunburn. It definitely helps that the overall appearance of my skin looks more supple as well.
As an added bonus, Philosophy’s When Hope is Not Enough Body Lotion contains many of my favorite ingredients such as:
- borage oil (borago officinalis): rich source of omega 6 fatty acid; an anti-irritant, used to soothe and maintain hydration.
- evening primrose oil (oenothera biennis): rich source of omega 6 fatty acid; an anti-irritant, used to soothe and maintain hydration.
- olive fruit oil (olea europaea): rich source of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids; used to soothe and maintain hydration.
There’s also a When Hope is Not Enough Body Scrub to go along with the lotion but I think this is very strong new launch from Philosophy and I have been revisiting this line more and more lately in search of good beauty fixes.
This past Friday night, my friend and I ended up at Nordstrom, as we always do when we’re near the mall, and she spotted the new Philosophy Apricots and Cream gift set. She loves the smell of apricots so she was all over this new set. I usually am not crazy about this scent but her enthusiasm rubbed off on me and now I’m obsessed with it!
After slathering my hands in the sample I received from the SA all morning, I thought it would be worth sharing. The new Apricots and Cream gift set includes an 8oz. size 3-in-1 shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath and an 8oz. firming body emulsion all in this new scent. For $24, that’s not bad at all. There’s also an Apricots and Cream Lip Shine available for $12. If you’re really serious, you can buy each product individually in a 16oz. size.
Have you smelled this yet? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
Are you a Philosophy girl? I don’t know about you but I definitely am, I’m a big fan of their fragrances. I especially love Amazing Grace and Pure Grace, they are my “pick me up” fragrances. Now Philosophy has introduced their new fragrance “Unconditional Love“.
It’s you’re looking for something a little sweeter than the other Grace fragrances, give Philosophy’s Unconditional Love a try. The fragrance features black currant as the heart, complimented with bulgarian rose and white lily then the dry down features woody notes with a cashmere vanilla base. It all comes together rather nicely. I can’t really detect the rose and lily notes in the fragrance but the black currant is very prominent here. The end result is a sweet, musky fragrance.
On their own, the staying power of the Unconditional Love 3-in-1 shower gel and the Unconditional Love spray leaves a little to be desired but it’s the same as with their other fragrances. It’s really when you layer the fragrance with the Unconditional Love body lotion that you really achieve a long lasting, lingering scent. I can’t wait until Philosophy starts putting out more products in this fragrance collection for even more layering!
