I love a little sparkle and glamour around the holidays, and have been favoring a very simple eye look that incorporates both.
- NARS Etrusque Eyeshadow – This may be the most perfect gold eyeshadow ever! It was released with NARS Holiday collection and I can’t get enough of it. I like to pat this all over the lid for a sparkling eye.
- Lorac Front of the Line PRO Liquid Eyeliner – This liquid liner is easy peasy to use — it’s smudgeproof, waterproof and has that flexible tip that makes application simple. Thin line, thick line, lower and upper lash line — this does it all. AND I love that if I get some on my eyelashes it doesn’t make them sticky and clumpy and affect my mascara application. Anyone else know what I’m talking about?
- MAC Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner in Black Swan – I was very happy to see that MAC included new Pearlglides in A Tartan Tale. These are one of my favorite eyeliners across any brand — they don’t move or wear at all during the day! Black Swan is an intense black with silver shimmers and it makes a mean smokey eye. Love this — just don’t get it on the waterline (ouch!).
- YSL Faux Cils Mascara – This mascara is legendary, and for good reason. It gives extraordinary length to lashes, really giving it that fake lashes look. I use a few coats to really glam up the eyes, but it truly does its business in just one.
- Tarte Limited Edition Gold-Toned Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler – Tarte’s Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler is my current go-to eyelash curler, and when I saw this bedazzled gold version for the holidays I squealed with happiness! It’s the same amazing curler, but the purple sparkles make me feel special. I picked up a few for stocking stuffers after Thanksgiving, but sadly, it’s sold out now.
(L-R) MAC Pearglide in Black Swan, NARS Etrusque, Lorac Front of the Line PRO (three different lines)
I’m also loving big chunky jeweled necklaces. The one above I bought at Ann Taylor Loft earlier this year — they have a ton of really cute options. It’s definitely an easy way to glam up a simple black dress or even a t-shirt and jeans!
What’s everyone else loving for holiday beauty? Do tell!
Disclosure: We received a sample of the Lorac Front of the Line PRO, YSL Faux Cils and NARS Estruque (but we also purchased the NARS on our own as well!)
Lorac’s new Evening Out Complexion Kit is more than just a clever play on words. It’s actually quite genius. Sure, the concealer duo and powders have been done before but this is product innovation here. Trust me! It’s more than just concealer, corrector and setting powder. It’s actually powder foundation and it’s divine. That powder is so finely milled and silky that I was in a major state of disbelief. Not that Lorac doesn’t make quality products, but this powder really took me by surprise.
At that point I was sold, but if the product itself hadn’t done it, the packaging may have. It’s that deep sturdy gunmetal we’ve seen in other Lorac palettes and it gives a very luxurious feel to the Evening Out Kit. I found a good match in “Light,” but some may find it tricky to get a perfect shade. It’s certainly worth a try though ladies, this is a star kit.
Sephora.com has stepped up their game this year, with constantly evolving promotions and weekly specials. They also do a very good job of hiding great deals in the sale section. Here’s a few that caught my eye this week:
Lorac’s On-Screen Duo is now only $7. There’s two shades available – Fame & Fortune, a black cream shadow/liner with gold shimmer poweder, and the bronzey Rich & Famous shown above.
For just $29, you can snag Korres Melon Body Collection – a jumbo sized Shower Gel and Body Butter. This is one of our top picks for summer – it smells incredible!
These fun and playful lip glosses by Balmshell are now just $11. The company sent us a few samples to try, and they are just the cutest. The color I really liked was a rosey pink — You Give Me Fever (shown above). It’s a lip gloss and key-chain in one and each color has a unique personality. I think it’d make a great girly gift, for a bridal party gift bag or just a lip gloss to play on someone’s personality. Plus, the scent is reminiscent of grape Pop Rocks. Who doesn’t like a blast from the candy past?
This just in! LORAC is running a great gift with purchase right now and it is only available while supplies last. When you purchase $50 worth of LORAC beauty essentials on their website, you’ll receive a free Mini Mocktail set with 6 lip glosses and free shipping with your order. Happy shopping!
In honor of award season kicking off with the Golden Globes this Sunday, I’ve been wearing Lorac’s Red Carpet Reveal Eye and Cheek Palette and Breakthrough Performance Lipstick all week. After all, Lorac founder Carol Shaw paints many a faces in Hollywood and creates products that help bring the glamour of the red carpet to women everywhere in their everyday life.
Lorac’s Red Carpet Reveal Palette is what I call turnkey beauty. The three eyeshadows are beautiful, simple neutrals and are so smooth and easy to blend. Debut, a shimmering cream with gold pearl; pose, a shimmering taupe; and Interview, a shimmery dark brown. Anyway you use them, it’s just pretty. It’s kind of hard to not to like pretty, right? The blush, Main Attraction, is a shimmery rose and is the perfect complement to the eyeshadows. I’ve been layering Debut over my beloved Stila Kitten Smudgepot on the lid and adding in Pose into my crease. To step it up for more oomph, I add Interview into my outer V and use a smudge brush (I use the NARS 15) along my lower lash line.
I’ve also been testing out Lorac’s Breakthrough Performance Lipstick in Premiere, a rosey nude with a twinge of brown. It take a lot to get me excited about lipstick because I am more of a gloss girl but this formula is good stuff.
It’s very creamy but glides on very sheer so it doesn’t feel caked on to the lips. It’s long-wearing but not drying, and contains Vitamin E and other anti-oxidants. It’s easy to wear and looks and feels great on – which are all must-haves, right?! . I am constantly drinking coffee and water during the day and I noticed it stayed on a little longer than usual – maybe 3-4 hours.
And can I just add that I love the packaging? Both the palette and the lipstick tube are made of this slick platinum and the boxes are total red carpet glam! In my dream world where I host amazing parties with ridiculous swag bags, I would invite my friends over for a red carpet viewing party and include a tube of this lipstick in each gift bag.
The Red Carpet Reveal Palette is a great buy at $35 and is exclusive to Sephora. Breakthrough Performance lipstick retails for $22 and is availble at both Sephora and Lorac.com.
Disclosure: Samples of these products were provided in consideration for this review.
I just got word on this amazing deal from Lorac that I just had to pass along. The new 3’s a Crowd collection is available exclusively online at Loraccosmetics.com for only $19.95. For that price you get 3 lipsticks, 3 lipglosses and 3 loose pigments. Try this for the loose pigments alone, I love Lorac’s Glam Rocks.
Wouldn’t this make a great gift? You could even split up each set of lipstick, lipgloss and pigments and still have a great gift. 🙂
Lorac always comes out with great palettes and now there’s a new one called Best Dressed. It’s a limited edition palette and it’s exclusive to Sephora and their Beauty Insider members. I love it when Sephora has treasures like this for us.
This new Best Dressed palette includes six neutral eyeshadows in Enlighten, Celebrity, Vintage, Star Quality, Designer, and Stylist, one blush in Superstar, and a double-ended eyeshadow brush all for $37.00.
These colors look gorgeous and suit my everyday wear. I’m going to snap this up as soon as pay day comes around.
Being a sucker for these kinds of sets, here’s another set for us to all lust after. Lorac introduces their limited edition Stunning Starlet collection which features Carol Shaw’s favorite products and her tips on how to recreate her looks. This set includes a Mocktail lipgloss, a blush/bronzer duo, an eyeshadow trio, primer and mascara in a little makeup bag. Of course these are not full sized products but it’s a good way to try a new line if you’re not familiar with Lorac. I’m telling you though, you’ll love the lip gloss.
When you use a product like an 8 hour lip color, sometimes there are a few things you give up in the name of long lasting color… like comfort and wear. With Lorac’s Co-Stars, I was happy to find a product that didn’t completely dry my lips and color that lasted through meals a few lattes.
This product uses a new advanced formula is that claims to be non-drying, smudge-proof and transfer-proof color. It comes in 5 liplock worthy shades such as First Kiss (light pink), French Kiss (mauve plum), Kissing Scene (nude sheen), Liplock (rose) and Makeout (rose plum). These shades are great for creating a soft, everyday lip for different skin tones.
I was a little unsure of the products claims at first but for the most part this product performs well. I was happy to see that the color lasted the 8 hour period I expected it to. There was a small amount of dryness, but that can happen even with some matte lipsticks. The color didn’t flake off my lips as I have experienced with other products and the lipgloss paired with this color is great. The moisture it provides makes the product comfortable to wear and taking care of the slight dryness. It’s a little on the thin side but that’s good in this case… it doesn’t leave your lips stuck together.
Being a girl with a love for eyeshadow, playing with Lorac’s new Glam Rocks has been a lot of fun. This product is loose eyeshadow with a very metalic finish. This shadow is ultra pigmented as well so this makes for a very powerful punch of color on the eyes in your choice of three shades; Metallic Pearl, Metallic Copper and Metallic Gold. I was really impressed with the color payoff with this product and my favorite of the bunch, Metallic Gold, is the most amazing yellow gold hued eyeshadow I have ever seen. The shape of the packaging is a little odd in my opinion but I would love to see Lorac put out more shades with this product, these precious metals are not enough.
This is cross posted from Lipstick, Powder & Paint while the lovely Ellen is away. 🙂
