New! Laura Mercier Polished Collection

I also went down to Nordstrom this weekend, only I was drawn to different counters. 🙂 One of the collections that caught my eye this weekend was the Laura Mercier Polished collection. This collection is a mixture of finishes; matte on the eyes, shimmering and radiant on the face and semi-matte or pearlescent on the lips. It is a smaller collection, in fact I almost missed it with everything that was going on that day but it is indeed a very polished collection. I can see some of the items in this collection becoming my new staples.

My weakness for highlighters was completely exposed when I saw the star of this collection, the new Radiant Creme Cheek Colour. As soon as I saw this, I was digging through my bag to get my debit card out. It is so pretty that I don’t want to ruin the top layer of it.  But seriously ladies, this highlighter is just gorgeous… that’s all I have to say about it. Laurie and I both caved on it this weekend.

The collection also includes 3 new Matte Eye Colour Duos, a new Lip Shine and 3 new Satin Lip Colours. All the co-ordination is done for you and the collection is mistake-proof. The lipsticks are pretty and come in neutral shades that will flatter most skintones. They also feature a new long-wearing formula that goes from satin to matte within minutes and is almost “elastic” in the way to adapts to lips and stays put. I’m dying to put these to the test.

If you have all the semi-matte or neutral lip color you can handle, direct your attention to the Crystal Pink Lip Shine. This was the other item I picked up from the collection. It’s just a pot of gloss but the pink crystal shine is like the cherry on top of a delicious ice cream sundae, it just adds a special touch to your lips. I am loving the golden pink shine this gives my lips. I’m very tempted to buy backups.

Have you checked out the Laura Mercier Polished collection? What did you think? Have you picked anything up? Let us know in the comments.

Product Girl 2009 Favorite Beauty Products – Lips & Eyes

Happy New Year to all of our readers! Are you ready to say goodbye to the ’00 decade? We’re gearing up for an exciting year here at Product Girl, but first we need to talk about the best and greatest beauty that 2009 had to offer… and a few products we brought with us into the new year from 2008. We’re starting it all off with our favorite lip and eye products.

Remember when we first talked about Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars? If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re really missing out. With these liquid lip colors, you can play makeup artist and create a custom shade just for you.

CoverGirl Outlast Lip Stains stole our heart this year. With their great range of shades and their wallet friendly price, they are so hard to resist! Plus the felt tip point to these stains do double duty as lip color and lip liner. Did you pick some up this year?

Continuing on with the liquid lip color, Chanel Rouge Allure Laque was a big hit with us this year. This one delivers on all fronts; long lasting, richly pigmented and feels weightless on the lips. Plus it looks oh so glamorous in your makeup up.

Laura Mercier Lip Velvet is the last liquid lip color we’ll badger you with. Laura Mercier’s is a little different from the Chanel Rouge Allure Lacque, it goes on a bit thicker but feels so cushy on and gives the same long lasting, richly pigmented color that we love.

We have gotten well acquainted with Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencils this year. They have been my go-to lip color when I don’t feel like wearing a lot of color and/or dealing with a lip gloss. As I mentioned, it does a great job of giving me sheer color and keeping my lips moist.

Shu Uemura’s Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine is a major fave around here. I know, we keep telling you.  But this formula stands out in a big way with it’s moisturizing properties and dewy shine. Once you try it, we think you’ll be in love with it just like we are.

We think Stila really shined with its Smudge Pots this year, especially the Stila Kitten Smudge Pot. It’s shimmery champagne goodness is the perfect eye base and brightener. It might be our favorite of the whole “kitten” family.

NARS Brumes Eyeshadow duo is meant for blue-eyed girls! It consists of the most smooth matte charcoal and shimmery blue slate colors, and makes for an amazing smokey eye that really pops.

The Style Black collection was a highlight for us this year – the Greasepaint Stick especially. It’s a great base, a great liner and it performs! No smudging – unless you want it to! –  and it even has a built-in sharpener, which is perfect when you want to get a finer tip to line.

For as many mascaras as we try, Cover Girl Lash Blast seems to always have a home in our makeup bag. It delivers consistent results and plumps up our lashes effortlessly.

Now you tell us, what are your favorite eye and lip products of 2009?

Holiday Wishlist: Laura Mercier Color Wardrobe

Whenever I see a Laura Mercier palette or set, something comes over me and I just have to have it. That’s how I feel about this Laura Mercier Color Wadrobe. How perfect is this? I am obsessed with it and can’t get it out of my head. The Deluxe Mini Brush Set I picked up in October is thinking it is a little lonely and needs a friend. Can we just agree that Laura Mercier consistently puts out lust worthy sets and palettes every year?

This palette contains 6 Eye Colours, 3 Cheek Colours, 6 Lip Stains, 2 finishing Lip Glazes and 2 double ended brushes to help you with application. Here’s what’s in this palette:

Top Palette:

  • 6 Eye Colours in African Violet, Stellar, Café Au Lait, Sandstone, Celestial, and Coffee Ground
  • 3 Cheek Colours in Plum, Rose, and Nude

Bottom Palette:

  • 6 Lip Stains in Mocha, Ruby, Melon, Mulberry, Nude and Rosette
  • 2 Lip Glazes in Brown Glaze and Pink Glaze

This seems like it would be a great palette to travel with. With a little eyeliner, mascara and a highlighter (because I am obsessed with highlighters), you have everything you need for a full face. The shades seem perfect for an everyday neutral look and even a few shades to help take the look from day to night.

And Santa, if you’re reading this, I’d totally accept the Master Toolbox (a Nordstrom exclusive) and/or Face Palette Collection (a Neiman Marcus exclusive) as well. Please note that I said and/or. 🙂

Are you adding this to your holiday wishlist? Tell us what’s on your wish list in the comments.

Beauty Bloggerati Must Have Makeup Brushes

Bloggerati Logo

Brushes are an obsession of mine right now… one of many obsessions. 🙂 I recently picked up the Laura Mercier Deluxe Mini Brush Set, another MAC 217 brush to apply concealer and Shu Uemura Natural 18 Goat Brush for foundation.

With the Laura Mercier set, I just couldn’t pass it up. How perfect is this for traveling? I’m taking this baby to Fashion Week in February for sure. That was my excuse for picking this set up… plus with the Sephora Friends & Family sale and a giftcard for my birthday I paid about $20 for this set.

With the MAC 217 brush, I recently spent some quality time with a senior artists at my local MAC store and I was surprised when used this brush on me to apply concealer. In fact, this artist actually owns quite a few 217 brushes and uses each one differently. The fibers in this brush are fantastic for a natural looking and buildable application. Plus the size is perfect for the undereye area or a spot application. When Rick was done, my skin was gorgeous… and looked like it was completely bare.

When I picked up the Shu Uemura 18 brush, I had the same premise in mind… relying on the fibers in the brush to give myself a more natural application with foundation. The MAC 217 brush is great but in this case, I wanted to get something bigger to cover a wider area. When I met Gina Brooke and had an artist at the Shu counter use my makeup, they used this brush and when you combine this brush and the Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation… perfection!

I’ve decided I can’t live without these brushes so I wanted to know what brushes my fellow Beauty Bloggerati were loving…

New! Laura Mercier Club Couture Collection

Laura Mercier has a new collection out for the holidays, called Club Couture. The Club Couture look is where “uptown chic meets downtown cool,” and features foiled metallic lids, smoldering lashes and soft lip shades in pink and beige.

Here’s what it includes:

Foiled Eye Colour – $22
Baked powder formula that can be used wet or dry – in V.I.P. Silver or V.I.P. Gold

Lip Colour – Crème – $22
Pink Label – a delicate, baby pink

Lip Colour – Shimmer- $22
Designer Beige – warm, nude shimmer

Lip Glacé- $22
After Hours – soft pale pink with reflective gold pearl

Full Faux Eyelashes$18

Dual Eye Colour Brush – $34

I’ve been loving Laura Mercier’s smaller releases lately. I was at Saks the other day and spent a little time playing around with this collection. This collection screams holiday party and the items individually are so gorgeous. The foiled eyeshadows are beyond amazing – they are so pigmented and when you wet them they are like liquid metal. I really can’t recall a silver and gold shadow this powerful.

I also think the three lip colors are going to be a big hit. I’m sort of a pink-aholic, so obviously I’ll be adding Pink Label and After Hours to my holiday makeup bag. Swatches of this collection are up on The Beauty Look Book – check them out and let us know what you think of this collection. And if you are feeling this one, Laura Mercier is offering free shipping through the month of November on any order placed on their Web site.

Laura Mercier Neiman Marcus Exclusive Essential Eye Organizer

The Seattle area is getting it’s first Neiman Marcus and you have no idea how excited I am about this… really, really excited. I was doing a little research on what they had to make a wishlist and I came accross this beauty, the Laura Mercier Neiman Marcus Exclusive Essential Eye Organizer. Oh Laura, you are killing me.

I need more eyeshadow like I need a hole in the head but I can’t help but want this little organizer. With 12 eyeshadows, this Essential Eye Organizer has everything needed to create an infinite number of looks and the tools to achieve them with 3 double ended brushes. Wouldn’t this be great for someone always on the go? I better stop now before I talk myself into this one.

New From Laura Mercier: First Blush Palette and Satinee Creme Eye Colour

I don’t know about you but I get all giddy when I know I’m going to be visting my favorite makeup counters. Now there are a few more things to look forward to from Laura Mercier this month: her new First Blush palette and Satinee Creme Eye Color.

Laura Mercier First Blush Palette

This limited edition First Blush palette comes with two cheek colours, three glosses and three new eyeshadows:

• Eye Colour: Buff, Tawny Apricot, Granite
• Lip Glazes: Naked, Natural, Flushed
• Cheek Colour: Blushing Pink, Blushing Peach

Laura Mercier Satinee Creme Eye Colour

Much like Laura Mercier’s Metallic Creme Eye Colour, the new Satineé Crème Eye Colours feature a new formula, as the name suggests, giving eyes a lovely soft focus finish and the same long wear we’ve come to know and love. Shades include:

• Cocoa Velour
• Ecru Silk
• Peach Organza
• Pink Chiffon
• Rum Satin
• Stone Suede

I can’t wait to get my hands on this, especially the First Blush palette. It looks so soft! If these are the shades that Spring beauty has in store for us… I likey. 🙂 Keep an eye on Laura Mercier’s website to get yours.

Laura Mercier's Lip Velvet

Laura Mercier Lip Velvet I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I love lip stains and matte lipstick. I obsess over those things to no end. When I saw Laura Mercier introduce her Lip Velvet line with her Cherries Noir collection, I had to check these out.

Laura Mercier’s Lip Velvet are richly pigmented lip colors that go on like a gloss but they leave a matte finish on your lips. The formula feels great, it’s nice and cushion-ey (I know that’s not a word) on the lips. What’s also great about this product is it’s lasting power. It lasts for hours like a stain but you still feel the product on your lips. I’m loving that I’m able to wear this formula well into the afternoon without major color loss. I’ve found that it does not completely dry out my lips either, this product does contain some moisturizing ingredients to help lips in the moisture department.

I did experience some slight bleeding but that’s something I could easily fix with a reverse lip liner… that’s not nearly enough to stop me from using these lip colors. I started with one sent to me by a PR rep and since then I’ve picked up the rest!

Have you tried Laura Mercier’s Lip Velvet? What did you think?

Laura Mercier's New Eye Basics

You may have noticed that Laura Mercier’s Eye Basics have a new look but what you might have missed is the introduction of the new Eyebright shade.

This new shade is a light blue cream that helps brighten up tired eyes instantly. Don’t be afraid of this little blue tube! I was a little hesitant at first but after some quality time with the SA at the Laura Mercier counter, I looked wide awake and fresh in the middle of the afternoon thanks to this new Eye Basic. If applied correctly, you can’t even see the blue on your lids, all you can see if that your eyes look brighter than they did before. Now that’s not to say that you can’t build up the intensity and paint a lovely shade of pastel blue on your lids but I think it’s safe to say that’s not how Ms. Mercier envisioned this product being used… at least not this shade. 🙂

Brightening is not the only benefit to this product, this makes a great primer for eyeshadow. It helps keep eyeshadow from creasing for hours, this holds up pretty well on my kryptonite lids. Laura Mercier’s Eye Basics also do double duty by using ingredients to soothe and protect eye lids like Vitamins A, E and C and anti-oxidants.

Have you tried this product? If so, what shade? What did you think?
