Best of 2010: Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation

With a name like Teint Miracle, I was expecting big things from Lancome’s latest foundation. And I wasn’t let down. I’ve been using Lancome Teint Miracle for a few months now, and it’s easily one of my 2010 favorites. After a purported 10 years of research, Lancome claims that this foundation recreates the true natural light of perfect skin giving you that true lit-from-within flawless beauty.

There’s a definite pearl to this formula, which is visible in the bottle itself.

This truly does wonders for my complexion — and the tiniest bit goes a long way. It’s dewy but doesn’t make me appear oily and is very long-lasting. I think this foundation is best suited for non-summer months as the coverage is medium and moisturizing. It feels like nothing on the skin, but is doing great things for me in the winter months.

Teint Miracle is a 2010 winner!

Just Another Mani Monday: Lancome Le Gris L'Wren

Le Gris L’Wren, part of Lancome’s 2010 holiday collaboration with designer L’Wren Scott, is the standout in the collection for me.  It’s a steely, stormy blue and is a truly interesting shade. At times, the blue tones are dominant – especially in full sun, but inside and in the shade it’s more steely.

The polish is pretty thick, and a second coat was really only needed to even everything out. There’s another shade in this collection as well, Le Rouge L’Wren, that is also quite beautiful. But if you’re looking for a different take on gunmetal, check Le Gris L’Wren out!

Lancome Genes Day for St Jude's Childrens Research Hospital

Today is Lancome’s Genes Day, a one day fundraising event benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. For every bottle of Lancome’s Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate sold in the U.S., Lancôme will donate $7, with a minimum donation of $100,000 from this initiative. Check out the all the news from this project on Facebook and check out Lancome’s videos featuring Arlenis Sosa, Daria Werbowy and Sandy Linter on YouTube.

Julia Roberts at Eat, Pray, Love Premiere

To me, Julia Roberts is one of the most stunning women in the world, more beautiful than Angelina Jolie and in my opinion, a much better actress. I’ll see anything that Julia is in. When Pretty Woman came out, I watched my VHS tape so many times that the VCR broke with the tape inside…. never-mind that it was a completely inappropriate movie for a girl my age at the time. 😉

Tuesday night Julia’s Eat, Pray, Love movie premiered and she looked gorgeous. Did she not? Ever since she signed on with Lancome, she just seems to have this glow about her.  For the event, celebrity makeup artist Genevieve Herr created a chic and modern look that played up Julia’s light brown eyes and her sleek black ensemble.

For a natural complexion, Genevieve used the new Teint Miracle Foundation, an amazing radiance-boosting foundation launching next month, Laura Mercier Secret Concealer and Secret Brightening Powder followed by a cream blush in plum on the apples of the cheeks. She wanted to give Julia soft, smoky eyes with a mix of blacks and plums. To achieve this, she first applied Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to line the eyes and then blended shadows from our new fall French Coquettes collection called the French Touch Color Design Quad. Her lashes were topped with Définicils Precious Cells Mascara in Black for a full, natural lash. She finished the look with a neutral lip using Le Lipstique Lip Liner in Sheer Natural, Color Design Lipstick in Love It! and a touch of Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling for the perfect photo-ready pout.

Because I love Julia so much, I will most likely see the movie on Friday… how about you?

New! Lancome French Coquettes Fall 2010 Collection

Lancome’s Fall 2010 Collection, French Coquettes, is all about French glamour and features a palette of deep plums, shimmering charcoals and sophisticated nudes. They’ve outdone themselves with the campaign images featuring Lancôme spokesmodels Daria Werbowy and Elettra Wiedemann. It actually makes me want to run out and buy everything just so I can create that look (Daria especially, on left.) French Coquettes features several star products, so Lancome fans are in for a treat.

First we have a gorgeous multi-color powder compact, La Rose Deco, that really tugs at my rose-obsessed heart strings. Isn’t it beautiful? The shimmer is overspray, but there is a visible rose pattern and the color beneath is a lovely mix of rose and pink.

Perhaps the most coveted item is the Ombre Magnétique, a gel-like shimmery eye shadow and the key to the looks seen on Daria and Elettra. Shown above is the shade Urban Silver, but we’ll also see two others: Cherry Chérie and Black Macadam. This won’t be available until August 15 and I’m dying to see what this looks like on my lids. I do believe counters are taking pre-orders and have the displays out. Go check it!

Lancome also released a new Color Design Quad in French Touch. I’m digging the special packaging, but I’m not sure if the colors are unique enough for $42. Honestly, I’m just a little hung up on the Ombre Magnétique!

You’ll also find a trio of mini polishes in Kissed by Paris. Pretty and chic!

You can see the collection in full online at Lancome. My advice? Get on the Obmre Magnétique. I think this is one of those products that you’ll kick yourself for missing out on. I know I’ve been burned many times in that game.

Summer Beauty Essentials: Meltproof, Budgeproof, Smudgeproof

This summer has been one for the record books. It has been so insanely hot and humid, making our beauty routine that much more challenging.  Quite frankly, I’m ready for cooler weather. Carla has been sitting cool and calm in Seattle where the weather is quite mild, but even she had a moment when it (gasp!) got in the high 80s. It’s bad when that sounds refreshing, right?!  To help get us through the dog days of summer, we’ve both been relying on products that meet the “Meltproof, Budgeproof, Smudgeproof” requirement.

I’ve been religiously wearing Lancome Teint Idole Fresh Wear for about six weeks now.  To say I’m impressed with this product is an understatement. The promise of 18-hour wear and a flawless complexion lured me in, and it lived up to its end of the bargain. The consistency is more foundation like than it is a tinted moisturizer – it’s a very thin and water-based so you need to give it a good shake before use. A little bit will cover your whole face and somehow it dries matte but doesn’t look matte. It takes on summer heat and humidity like a pro.

Bobbi Brown’s All Over Bronzing Gel is a year-on-year favorite for me. It’s very natural looking and isn’t a self tanner so it comes off when you want it to. It is almost like a bronzing stain, so I apply one section of the face at a time — my cheeks, along the jawline, a dab on the chin and anywhere else that I want a kiss of the sun. It’s pretty multipurpose, so you could even mix it in with your moisturizer and bronze up your legs! This on top of a little TM makes me feel so put together and on really disgusting days, it’s all I’ll wear to give my skin some color.

NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base is unlike other eyeshadow primers. Carla and I are both really loving this. It’s white in color but goes on clear, and has a tacky, gel-like feeling that dries instantly on the eyelid. It’s the perfect base for any product – powder or cream. And my gosh, does it hold your eyeshadows in place. I put a little along my lower lashline to help hold liners and shadows and it works like a charm. The only downside is the price – it’s $24 for .26 oz.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect to like Tarte MultiplEYE Natural Lash Enhancing Waterproof Mascara as much as I do. But it probably ranks as one of the best waterproof mascara I’ve  tried, and it can easily take on other beloved non-waterproof mascaras of mine. The reason I love it is two-fold. First, it gives me long, voluminous lashes that are perfectly separated. And two, because it is so easy to remove and it is nuturing to the lashes. The first time I removed it, I expected it to be flake and be difficult. But that didn’t happen – in fact, it just sort of glided off onto my cotton ball and my lashes felt conditioned. Plus, my mascara stays put in this heat. I’m hooked!

What’s your go-to for meltproof, smudgeproof, budgeproof makeup? Let us know!

Absolutely Brilliant: Lancome L'Absolu Creme De Brilliance

Lancome’s L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance is a hybrid of sorts. It’s more than just your average lip gloss, delivering lip treatment, hydration and a hearty dose of long-lasting color. The core of this product is a concentrated anti-aging molecule called Pro-Xylane™, and I’m sure it likely delivers on its promise. But I don’t really want to focus on that. I want to put the technical, scientific reasons this gloss may be superior aside and tell you why I love it. The wear! The smell! The feel! The colors! The packaging!  It’s absolutely brilliant.

I’ve been trying this out in Amanda Sucree, a bronzy neutral. Funny thing, I was obsessed with Amanda Sucree in the late 90s after getting a tube in a Lancome gift-with-purchase. This is definitely a classic Lancome shade! I was blown away by this product though – it feels so amazing on the lips. It never gives a dry feeling and it has more pigment than a gloss but actually looks like a gloss on the lips. This is a rock star lip product.

I think this that every woman would benefit from having in their makeup bag. Next time there’s a Lancome gift-with-purchase, I plan to pick up either Champagne or Blush Classique. If you’re like me, you always go for the gift but never know what it is you actually need to buy. Add this to your must-try list!

New! Lancome Bronze Riviera Summer Collection

Lancome’s Bronze Riviera is one of this season’s most stunning collections. It’s classic summer beauty – “a playful glow of bronze” and “celebratory pop of pink.” Amen to that Lancome! While these shades may be expected in the summer months, this collection is unexpectedly refreshing.

The Tropiques Minérale Bamboo Bronzer is the showstopper of the collection. I basically want to go on vacation to the locale imprinted on the product. And because this bronzer is so beautiful, I’m certain I could never actually use it. But if you are to crack the suface, it’s likely to last a short lifetime. The bronzer is nearly the size of a DVD!

Product Girl Faves: The Best of Spring Beauty

Spring weather is here, which means summer beauty is soon to be in full-swing. But before we start lathering on sunscreen and bronzer, we thought we’d give a nod to our favorite products from spring, before they disappear from counters and lose that top spot in our makeup bags. We may say this every season, but there were so many amazing beauty products in spring collections. It really was very difficult to narrow down the best of the best. But here goes, in no particular order…

Chanel Spring 2010 Collection – this Chanel Spring collection had us at “hello”, it is classic and totally wearable. It was packed full of neutral shades ranging from pink and beige to warm brown and khaki, shades that would look good on any woman. We loved practically everything about it, including the now famous Le Vernis in Particuliere. This is the greige nail color that started it all a few months ago and was all the rage. We definitely fell for it and even found a great dupe along the way.

Laura Mercier Radiant Creme Cheek ColorProduct Girl should almost be synonymous with “addicted to highlighters.” We really have a thing for them and this lovely creme highlighter from Laura Mercier’s Polished collection is well, radiant. Three-fourth’s of the pan is a peachy pink highlighter, a tiny strip of metallic gold and the remaining fourth is a cranberry red. Mixed together it is a beautiful blush, but it’s almost too pretty to do that so we’ve been playing it safe and using it primarily as a highlighter and lovely it is.
