It’s well known that tinted moisturizers rule the summer, and Jouer’s Sheer Bronzing Tint with SPF 15 for summer is ruling my every day. It’s not quite a traditional tinted moisturizer, but I’d count that among its many uses. I’ve become quite the self-tanning obsessee lately sometimes have difficulty getting that perfect match with other tinted moisturizers. Continue reading →
Glisten closely ladies, because there’s a lip gloss you need to know about. Jouer’s Moisturizing Lip Glosses are the antitheses of a goopy, sticky gloss and as such, have landed themselves at the top of our lust-have lip gloss list.
Jouer loads their glosses with vitamins A, C & E, shea butter, jojoba oil and pomegranate seed oil. The difference in moisture levels is noticeable – these legit keep lips hydrated. And while the “Glisten” trio above in Rose, Coral and Nude, are all decked out to the nines with shimmer, there are no gritty bits, just a moisturizing formula that leaves your lips feeling nourished.
Nude Glisten is the perfect gloss to layer with, but I love Rose and Coral on their own. They’re very sheer, but add a dewy tint to lips to that is so seamless. In fact, Jouer has this nifty tool on their website that allows you to see what the finishes look like on the lips. It’s actually pretty accurate, and there are few different skin types to choose from so you adapt the preview for you skin. I love the ease of wearing these, because I don’t have to worry about my lips drying out.
Thanks for glistening to this special lip gloss announcement!
A few weeks ago, I went to New York with my husband for a little mini-vacation. It was a great time. We went to some delicious restaurants, caught a show and did some shopping. And because I have a very tolerant husband, we visited many beauty counters.
Here I am in front of the mothership — Bergdorf Goodman! That was one amazing beauty floor, and I’d take up permanent residence there if I could. We also went to Henri Bendel’s, where I was most excited to check out Jouer Cosmetics live and in-person. Every since I tried Jouer’s Instant Chic collection, I have been hooked on getting to know the brand.
Immediately, my eyes locked with the Luminizing Moisture Tint. I knew instantly that I needed to try it, but I made sure to grill Neil, a make-up artist for Jouer, on what set this product apart from the many tinted moisturizers on the market. He explained that it gives you a healthy glow (literally – it’s full of antioxidants) and wipes away imperfections. I was intrigued, but I noticed that when I swatched it on my hand it appeared a little shimmery. He convinced me that it didn’t translate that way on the face, and he was right.
I picked up a tube in Golden and have been loving it ever since. It really is an eraser for imperfections and it’s very moisturizing (but not in an oil-inducing way!) I set it with a translucent powder just as I do all liquids, but I don’t think it’s necessary (at least it wouldn’t be if the humidity levels weren’t 90 percent + everyday). If I were comparing this, I’d say it’s a much better version of Laura Mercier’s Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. There’s no tin-man effect here. Just a perfect glow.
Who doesn’t like to have fun with their makeup? Jouer Cosmetics is definitely a way to inject some fun into your makeup bag. After all, Jouer does mean “play” in French. The brand combines wearable colors and playful, practical packaging. All of the pieces can be grouped together for a truly customizable palette. Shown above is Jouer Cosmetics Instant Chic Collection, which includes:
Peach Power Eyeshadow – matte pale peach
Fawn Cream Tint – creamy apricot
Suntan Bronzer – matte honey bronze
Starfish Lip Gloss – sheer peach with champagne shimmer
This collection is my first foray into Jouer, and I am beyond impressed. I like the packaging and how it all “clicks” together, but even more than that I love the colors and the formula. It’s great quality and so wearable. I’ve been wearing these colors all week for an easy summer look. The bronzer is matte and very complementary to my light skin (above is a heavier swatch). And I’m obsessed with the peach eyeshadow - it brightens up my eye area perfectly.
Jouer Cosmetics are sold at Henri Bendel’s in NYC and online. I’m planning a trip to New York in July and I definitely want to see more Jouer in person, especially the Moisture Tints! Let us know if you’ve tried any Jouer, I’d love some more product recommendations.
I’m always intrigued when a cosmetic company does something that’s outside of the norm. Jouer Cosmetics has some very interesting packaging that is definitely outside the norm. Their products were recently used on Freida Pinto and helped her look gorgeous at the Golden Globes. This sparked some curiosity about Jouer Cosmetics.
I’ve been playing with some products from Jouer Cosmetics for a week now and I love their packaging. Their packaging design is very unique, you can build a custom palette out of most products by sliding them into place or stacking them back to back. They are all labeled on the front side so it’s very clear which kind of product you would be opening. All the fuss about the packaging doesn’t mean the products themselves are lacking, absolutely not.
Makeup artist Jeffrey Paul created a fresh, sunkissed look with Jouer Cosmetics for Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto at the Golden Globes. Freida’s radiant natural beauty and flawless skin tone was the inspiration behind Jeffrey Paul’s red carpet look. He wanted Freida’s natural beauty to be the focal point of her overall look so he decided to go with a subtle palette of shimmering pinks, champagne and gold accentuating her flawless skin and her natural glow.
Here’s how to create Freida’s radiant red carpet look:
Eyes: Jeffrey used a thick green liner with flecks of gold. He smudged the Jouer Vert eye definer very close to the lashes to frame her eyes, The soft green color complimented her eye coloring while the gold flecks in the liner tied the look together. For additional color, he added Jouer Amaretto eyeshadow in the crease of the eyelid to add definition and blended with a soft brush. The Jouer black mascara was used on both the top and bottom lashes to show off Freida’s long thick lashes.
Skin: To get Freida’s sunkissed look, Jeffrey mixed together foundation and concealer and only used on key spots to blend outward for a soft effect. The Jouer crème highlighter was used on the brow bone and cheek bones to add additional definition and shimmer.
Lips: Jeffrey finished the look using the Jouer crème highlighter matched with the Jouer monsoon gloss. The golden tone of the highlighter accentuated the natural pink color of her lips while the sheer deep wine gloss was the perfect compliment.
