In honor of cupid’s big day, we pulled together a list of pink, red and girly all over beauty goodies. Products that exude XOXO. Because if there’s one thing we heart, it’s beauty. Forget the roses and the chocolates, we like these kinds of presents.
Leila Lou Eau de Parfum – Somehow this scent by Rosie Jane manages to capture the innocence of Valentine’s Days past. So fresh and girly!
EOS Berry Blossom Hand Lotion – We seriously love this pocket-sized, berry-scented lotion with shea butter, oat extract and plenty of vitamin E.
LUSH A Million Kisses – The intense scarlet stain resembles that of lips that have been nonstop smooching for days upon days. The addition of rosehip oil (first ingredient listed!) gives it an appropriate cupid scent.
Beauty Secrets Tweezers –What’s not to love about these at $1.49 each from Sally Beauty? They resemble Tweezerman for a smidge of the price!
What’s on your Valentine’s Day wishlist?
I was starting to think that these EOS Everyday Hand Lotions were urban legend because finding them locally was almost impossible. Then one day not too long ago I finally spotted them in the bins by the cash register at my favorite Ulta and I just HAD to have one. I felt like I hit the beauty jackpot.
There’s plenty to like about this EOS Hand Lotion. The formula is lightweight but it absorbs quickly without leaving hands feeling greasy. Don’t you hate that greasy feeling? At first I was a little surprised at the size of the lotion (it fits in the palm of your hand) but when I started using it, I realized that you don’t really need a lot of it at a time. A pea sized amount is enough to do the job. The formula includes shea butter, oat extract and vitamins C and E and it is paraben free and 97% natural.
I also love the packaging in this hand lotion. It was designed to fit in your pocket so it is no wonder it is so sleek and convenient. The price of this hand lotion is also JUST right. At $3.99, they are cheap enough to pick up a few to keep at home, work, in the car or wherever you want to keep hand lotion. It comes in two scents; Nourish and Refresh. If I were you, I would pick up Refresh – the cucumber scent will be refreshing this summer!
Of all the products that live on my desk, it’s the sphered EOS Lip Balm that gets the most attention…mainly from my coworkers. You could say it’s a conversation starter, and for some reason, men are the most intrigued by this foreign object. Strange but true! It’s very funny to see the puzzled look, followed by the discovery and the “a-ha” moment of understanding.
You’ve got to hand it to EOS for creating such a cool product. Seems to be their thing, as evidenced by their newest innovation in personal care: the pod-shaped hand lotion. And even cooler, EOS is giving away 20,000 full-sized hand lotions on their Facebook page!
There are two formulas available — the Everyday and Everyday in Cucumber. From now until May 2, EOS will gift 5,000 of these each week to fans of the page. All you have to do is “like” the page and click on the giveaway tab to enter. If you don’t win one week, no worries, you’ll be automatically entered the following. I don’t know about you, but 20,000 hand lotions seems like a sizable giveaway to me. I’d say your odds are decent here — go enter! And let us know if you win:)
To wrap up our favorites of the past year, we’re going to take a look at a few of our favorite perfumes and bath and body products.
Korres Melon Shower Gel – This was a summer favorite of ours for its enchanting scent but stuck around as a favorite because of the formula. It’s packed with the good stuff, like aloe and vitamins A and E, and feels great on skin.
EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream – We’d all but abandoned shave cream until this wonder product from EOS came along. Admittedly, the packaging piqued our interest, but what’s inside is even better. It’s more like a shaving lotion and can be used wet or dry, irritation-free. Love this stuff!
Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia – Inspired by a walk in the orchard, this fragrance is so natural and inviting. It doesn’t reek of fruit either, it really strikes the perfect balance with every note. Laurie really has a true “product man” in her life — this fragrance was an anniversary gift from her husband in September.
Donna Karan Iris – This perfume was my summertime friend. It is fresh and vibrant and just all around a beautiful floral fragrance. Can I just say this? When it comes to fragrance, Donna Karan rarely gets it wrong.
Chloe Intense – Chloe released a few different perfumes last year but my favorite was an ramped version of their original Chloe perfume. I wrote about it back in April, I loved it then and I love it now even more in the winter. This rose note fragrance is so alluring and makes this gal feel a little more refined when she wears it.
Philosophy Eternal Grace - It was bound to happen… another “grace” scent from Philosophy. Eternal Grace goes in a different direction that the other fragrances in the series, this one has some citrus notes to it making it fresh and lighter than the others but still has some of that “grace” core that we have come to know and love… it is new but still familiar like an old friend.
What were your favorites perfumes and bath and body products from last year?
Until recently, I’d all but abandoned using shaving cream. It’s not that I had anything against it, but I found it easier to just use body wash. And then I discovered EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream – which I’ve dubbed the next generation of shave cream. I’ve been using the Pomegranate and Raspberry, which smells lovely and the bright pink bottle adds a nice pop to the product lineup in my shower caddy.
It’s more like a lotion – no foaming action – and I find that really refreshing. PLUS! You can use this wet or dry. I’ve used this dry just as much as I have wet and it works just as well. I think I burned through my first bottle pretty quickly, which I attribute to my excitement over using this product. It’s a “Ten of Less” rockstar as a bottle will set you back about $4.
Right now I am obsessed with two lip balms: the EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm and La Mer The Lip Balm. They are fantastic and I just have to rave to you about them. One is definitely a splurge and the other is so wallet friendly that you’ll want to get each flavor, which is what I did.
I picked up La Mer’s The Lip Balm a few months ago on a whim. I was at the La Mer counter admiring their new concealer (more on that next week) and thought “what the hell” so I picked it up. It’s definitely one of the most expensive lip balms I’ve ever bought (my old tube of By Terry Baume de Rose is slightly more expensive) but I had seen so many raves on it that I couldn’t resist any longer. The Lip Balm’s texture is nice and thick, which just how I like it. Every time I dip into it, it makes my lips feel absolutely pillow-ey. Plus it smells delicious, like mint-chocolate chip ice cream.
The wallet friendly EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm definitely gives the La Mer The Lip Balm some competition. I love this lip balm so much that I went to 4 Walgreens and 5 Rite Aids trying to get all 3 flavors. The first time I tried this lip balm, I had just picked it up in a boutique (that shall remain nameless) in New York for twice as much as it sells for in a drugstore but that’s ok, it was still worth it. It has a thinner texture than the La Mer but it still keeps my lips moist and today’s key word: pillow-ey. EOS also makes a stick lip balm but I love gliding that sphere along my lips. My favorite flavor is the Sweet Mint but Honeysuckle Dew and Summer Fruit flavors are just as good. At under $4 each, it’s worth a shot.
Have you tried either of these lip balms? Which one do you like? Let us know in the comments.
