Twilight Duwop Lip Venom: Lip Stain That Bites Back

luna-twilight-duwop-lip-venom I have to be honest, I really thought a whole line of makeup based on Twilight was a bad idea but once I started seeing the items on the Twilight Beauty website, I started changing my tune… some of the products look kind of interesting, do they not? When I found Twilight Venom at Nordstrom, I gave in to my Twilight obsession just a little more.

Not all is well in the land of Twilight Beauty though. As you can see in the image here, the color separates from the product and stays that way unless you shake the vial well, I mean really well. Even when taking the applicator out of the vial and applying it on the lips, the color still remains in beads even though the brush looks to be saturated with color. This makes it difficult to have an even application of the stain. Another issue here; Venom has a big bite! The cinnamon in Venom is fiery and it’s almost uncomfortable on my lips. I don’t remember Duwop’s Lip Venom feeling this uncomfortable to wear. Maybe that’s what it’s really like when a vampire’s venom is on your lips. ;)

Call me crazy but even in spite of the uneven application and the product almost setting my lips on fire, I still hold out hope for the rest of the Twilight Beauty line. The Mortal Glow Blushing Crème and Luna Color Palettes, creme blushes and palettes are my kind of candy.

Give Your Cheeks a Boost

Don’t forget, today is the last day to comment on this blog for a good cause! We will donate $1 for each comment we receive up until today. You can find more on this here.

Duwop Blushbooster Duwop’s come out with a new product called Blushbooster. As the name suggests, it’s a product that can give your favorite blush a boost or use it on it’s own to give your cheeks a glow. When I first read about this, I wondered why I would even think about using a product like this along with another blush but when you try it, you understand. Blushbooster is aptly named, it’s a great highlighter you can use a matte or cream blush. It just kicks it up a notch.

This product also has ingredients to help your skin, baked right in to it. It contains Jojoba oil to prevent prevent moisture loss, cucumber extract to calm the skin and reduce puffiness, pomegranate extract and Vitamins A and E for their nourishing antioxidant properties. Blushbooster’s four shades give you a great glow all while helping to nourish your skin.

A Tale of Two Glosses: Duwop Elixr Stix

Sometimes you need a gloss that’s sheer and slick on your lips, something to just top off the color you already have on your lips…not add more color on top of it.

Duwop Elixrstix Duwop’s Elixr Stix are perfect for this purpose. They are not sticky at all and the product just glides over your lips, it’s so slick. The color is super sheer as well. I was wearing this over my lip twins yesterday and I got a few compliments on my lip color. Next, I’m going to start pairing it up with my beloved lip stains. What is also interesting about this product is that each shade has a specific purpose. Like Tarte’s recent Inside Out glosses, these glosses feature tonics from Elixr Tonic & Teas. The Clarity shade features the Mind Over Muddle tonic, Energy features the Power Plant tonic, Harmony features the Virtual Buddha tonic and finally, Serenity features the Liquid Yoga tonic. I picked up Clarity, which is fitting for me. Anything that helps me enhances focus, concentration, and mental clarity with Ginko Biloba, Gotu Kola, and green tea leaf is good in my book.

Another Year Gone By

I didn’t know that I would be taking such a long break from this blog when I published my last entry but that’s how it ended up working out, it’s just something that happened. However, I’m coming back now and what better way than to let you know about my favorite things for 2006? All the cool kids are doing it. :)

Favorite Things for 2006

Here are a few of my favorites products I discovered this year, my six for ’06…

perfectveil.jpg From the moment I smelled this perfume, it was love at first sniff. I love powdery scents and this is a great everyday scent for me. It features base notes of musk, vanilla and sandalwood. It also features top notes of lemon and bergamot. All of these notes work beautifully together. This scent has lead me to try more of Creative Scentualization’s perfumes and I’m already hooked. You can find Perfect Veil at La Creme Beauty.

Vincent Longo Lip and Cheek Gel Stain I’m all about low maintenance beauty and this is one of my all time favorite products. I only discovered it this year and it’s replaced every other lip stain I have. Cupid’s Breath and Liquid Kiss are my favorite shades, both are variations of red. The color of your lips can be as low-key or intense as you want it to be, this product provides great buildable color. You can find Vincent Longo’s Lip & Cheek Gel Stain at Sephora.

Philosophy's Soul Owner I can’t thank Colleen enough for mentioning this product to me. This product contains glycolic acid and actually exfoliates all the icky dead skin on your feet. Try slathering this on your feet and cover them up with some nice thick socks for a few nights straight and you’ll be amazed when you finally take a rasp to your feet. You can find Philosophy’s Soul Owner at Sephora.

Product Body Whipped Shea Butter This is the product that inspired me to try and make my own whipped shea butter. It’s the best I have ever tried… it’s not greasy, has a nice texture to it and smelled so good that I almost wanted to lick myself. You can find Product Body’s Whipped Shea Butter at Product Body.

Duwop Ice I seem to be drawn to highlighting products, this one was no exception. I love the lovely pink glow that this product gives my skin. In a sea of gold or silver based highlighters, a pink highlighter with hints of blue is a refreshing change. It’s opened my mind to other highlighting possibilities. You can find Duwop’s Ice at Sephora.

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Being a girl with a love for eyeshadow, I couldn’t leave this one off my list. I love everything about these eyeshadows… the bold colors, texture, pigmentation and presentation. What’s not to like? I cannot wait until new shades come out in spring, including new neutral colors. You can find Urban Decay’s Deluxe Eyeshadow at Sephora.
