Last month we told you about the new Cover Girl Outlast Lip Stains. Have you tried them yet? We hope you love them as much as we do, we’re completely and totally in love. Now you have the chance to win all 10 shades of them!
You remember that I love lipstains, right? Imagine how happy I was to hear that Cover Girl was releasing a new line of lipstains with 10 lovely shades. These new Cover Girl Outlast Lipstains made me a very happy gal.
My favorite type of lipstain is a felt tip marker and I was so happy to see that this is exactly how legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath designed the new Cover Girl’s Outlast Lipstain. What I like even more is that there are 10 shades available for this product, you don’t see prestige brands with this many lipstain shades. Here are the shades available:
- Everbloom Kiss
- Plum Pout
- Bit of Blossom
- Coy Coral
- Berry Smooch
- Wild Berry Wink
- Teasing Blush
- Flirty Nude
- Sassy Mauve
- Cinnamon Smile
You can find Cover Girl’s Outlast Lipstains in stores retailing around $7.99. Check out Walgreen’s, I just picked up a bunch of these and got one free! Stay tuned for swatches from each shade later this week.
Guess who is Cover Girl’s newest face? This morning they have confirmed that Ellen DeGeneres is Cover Girl’s newest face.
“Ellen is the quintessential CoverGirl. She is smart, confident, natural, and beautiful from the inside out. Her beauty and down-to-earth personality fit perfectly with what CoverGirl represents.” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President and General Manager of Global Cosmetics for Procter & Gamble Beauty. I think this is a very smart move on Cover Girl’s part. She will be featured in her first beauty campaign in January 2009 and you can sign up on their website now for more information when that campaign launches.
So in my unending quest for the better and best mascara(s), I came across Cover Girl’s latest, Lash Blast Mascara. Besides the great ads with Drew Barrymore splayed all over the place, what really drew me (no pun intended) was the big, bright, orange tube.
The mascara comes with an extra-large, rubber bristled brush and is touted as “a patented volumizing formula” that promises to “max out” lashes for the “ultimate big lash look.”
Well it’s a good mascara, but not great. The brush, being so large, is not the easiest to maneuver and my lashes are not anymore “maxed out” than other volumizing mascaras I have used. The good part though, is that it goes on relatively clump free, removes easily with soap and water and has not smeared on me yet.
For a new, affordable mascara, I would recommend this, but don’t expect miracles.
Since one of the most popular looks at the Fall fashion shows was the cat eye, I was very excited to try and emulate the look for myself. This is usually created by using a heavy liquid eyeliner, which most of the cosmetic companies out there make. Unfortunately I have found them to be messy, hard to apply and always get a nice glob of it in my eye, so I have tended to stay away from them. But since the fashion shows brought back the look, new formulas popped up on the market and I eagerly bought them up to try:
L’Oreal Mistake-Proof Marker gives you the choice to design a soft or dramatic liner look for your eyes. It comes with an exclusive slanted applicator. The flow is supposedly controlled and continuous, so you can easily follow the contour of the eye. Unfortunately, I did not find this the case. It was very hard on the eyelid in terms of drawing the actual line and the marker tip itself was not very soft. The line was not easily a continuous one, it came out choppy if you weren’t careful. You have to make sure to pull the eye taut to make a nice line, but this was very difficult to use, and since it is liquid, it was very hard to erase the mistakes that inevitably were all over my eyes. On the upside, if you get the hang of this liner, it is all day wear, water resistant and won’t smudge or fade.
The next liner I tried was the Cover Girl LineExact Liquid Liner Pen. After L’oreal didn’t go as well as I thought, I bought this one, determined to get the look down. This is a felt –tip liner in an easy to hold mini tube. Cover Girls’ version is hands down much easier to apply and the applicator is very soft and feels nice on the eyelid. To get a dark look, you might have to go over the line a couple times, as it applies a bit on the lighter side, but better light than too much right? This pen was definitely much more user-friendly than the L’Oreal one.
Bottom line is that I am usually very good about my makeup application. However, this look evades me. You must have steady hands and a good grasp of the application process. For some reason, I cannot get my line straight at all. Just remember, if you are going for this look, please keep the rest of the makeup easy and light, so your eyes are the only thing that stand out.
One of my favorite actresses just added a new item to her resume, Drew Barrymore is the newest star added to the Cover Girl Cosmetics line up. I’m a little surprised at this announcement, considering Drew has been feature in different Lancome collections but this is a great move on Cover Girl’s part. Here’s some information from the press release:
This afternoon Drew Barrymore was ceremoniously unveiled as the newest face of CoverGirl Cosmetics. The star and filmmaker will not only find herself in front of the camera launching new products for the company, but also behind the camera as a co-creative director of her first TV commercial for the Brand.
“I am honored to be associated with a brand that has been at the forefront of its industry for almost fifty years,” Barrymore said. “CoverGirl has managed to change with the times, yet stay in touch with women of all ages and backgrounds. To be chosen not only as the newest face of CoverGirl, but to be given the opportunity to be a co-creative director of my first TV commercial is truly amazing.”
A beloved actress and gifted filmmaker, Drew emulates the iconic image of the CoverGirl brand with her fresh, natural beauty, and energetic yet authentic spirit. Her carefree, upbeat personality shines through in all that she does. “Drew is a wonderful addition to the CoverGirl family and her role – both in front of the camera and behind the scenes as co-creative director – is new and different for the cosmetics industry,” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President and General Manager, CoverGirl Cosmetics in North America. “We wanted to honor Drew’s passions as a filmmaker and are thrilled she is not only lending her beautiful face to CoverGirl but also lending her artistic talents as the co-creative director of the ad campaign.”
Drew is joining other famous Cover Girls such as Queen Latifah, Christie Brinkley, Keri Russell, Molly Sims and Rihanna… maybe she’ll do a commercial with my favorite American’s Next Top Model’s CarriDee and Danielle.
