This week’s mani was very overdue! Whenever I take a trip, I have a ritual I perform; get the eyebrows done, make sure hair is properly colored and cut then of course the mandatory mani/pedi. That didn’t happen this time and I left for New York last week without doing my nails and toes properly manicured… the horror! I kept meaning for it to get done but it just never happened even though I was carrying this shade from the China Glaze On Safari collection with me everywhere I went. Now my nails are glistening with glitter.
China Glaze’s I’m Not a Lion is a gold glitter with lots of micro gold and silver glitter thrown in. This is the exact kind of glitter polish that I love, two coats of I’m Not a Lion and you are completely covered, no messing around with three or four coats to try and build your mani to bottle color – just two coats and you’re there. Why can’t more glitters be like this? The formula gets a little thick during application, at least in my bottle it did, but it helps pack on the glitter so I don’t mind that at all. This shade dries quickly lacking a little bit of its luster in the bottle but a glossy top coat restores the shade’s sparkle.
What’s on your nails this week? I have to admit, I am loving this glitter. I haven’t worn a glitter like this in a long time. Do you have next week’s mani all planned out? I’m thinking I might try water marbling. Let’s discuss this in the comments.
For China Glaze’s Fall 2012 collection, we’re going on an exotic expedition… we’re going On Safari! The collection gives us a good variety of shades but it is rooted in earthy tones, rich plums and sparkle. I love the unexpected shades in this collection, the cobalt blue and green creme shades are a surprise in this collection but they make for a great transition from summer to fall, don’t you think? Plus we’re seeing that greys never go away, the Elephant Walk shade is here to remind us of that.
Let’s take a look at the 10 rich cremes and 2 glitters that make up the On Safari collection.
Neons are always a welcome pop of color in the summertime and China Glaze is giving it to us with their Summer Neons collection.

I’m looking forward to seeing how similar the shades are to the Poolside collection a few years ago. I’m still obsessed with the Electropop (how good was that collection??) but by the time the collection hits stores next month, I be ready for some neons.
I first read the Hunger Games trilogy about a year and half ago — pre-movie deal, pre-mania. I loved every page I read — I don’t hide my love of the Young Adult genre. If you haven’t read it yet, you SHOULD. I’m hopeful the movie will do it right. As for China Glaze, they are doing it right with the Hunger Games Colours from the Capitol Collection. The collection will officially be available in early March at Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta stores, but we have a preview of a few shades now!
You may recall this post, revealing the collection shades. It’s a dark and moody collection, overall. Even the burst of orange feels dark and fiery to me. Stone Cold, shown on my nails, is the matte shade in the collection. It’s filled with silver microglitter and very cool! I thought I was over matte shades, but I totally dig this. Plus, a topcoat will be give you a glossy finish if you so desire.
Will you be getting anything from this collection? Also, who is excited to see the movie?
A virtual book club is so our speed, which is why we think that StriVectin’s Facebook Book Club is a fantastic idea. This month they’re reading Anna David’s “Falling for Me.” Every other month, the group will start a new book, and the first 50 people to sign-up will receive a free copy. Check it out on StriVectin’s Facebook page.
One of the best things we read all week….beauty products the Refinery29 editors swear by. [Refinery29]
Next month, look out for China Glaze ElectroPop for Spring 2012. This is a girly, edgy and fun collection. And that glitter confetti topcoat, called “Techno,” looks very promising.

Marchesa always has some of the best red carpet moments (can’t wait for the Globes!), so the latest Beauty.com/Marchesa collab is quite fitting. Love the bow, the lace AND the samples: Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint, Boscia blotting linens and Amika Obliphica Oil Treatment. Yours with any $150 Beauty.com purchase.
Food or skin care? Crabtree & Evelyn’s newly announced Avocado, Olive & Basil Collection sounds yummy and delicious…and moisturizing! Launching February 15.
It’s official. China Glaze is releasing a Hunger Games-themed collection in March, in conjuction with the release of the movie. Get ready to fight to the death. Or perhaps we don’t need to get that dramatic. We got an early peek at the color chart of “Colors From the Capital” collection, all inspired by the capitol city of the nation Panem.
While I can’t wait to see them all, I’m especially loving the looks of Stone Cold and Electrify! What about you? Are you a fan? Katniss and Gale forever??!

Which shades are you into? Midtown Magic seems really interesting.
Part of the fun with all the “crackle” shades out there right now is finding that certain combination that you are absolutely in love with. I didn’t find mine until I started playing with the China Glaze Crackle Metals collection. We have all seen the basic crackle shades and then the expanded shades come through, now China Glaze is hitting us with these Metals and I happen to think that these are the best crackles I have seen so far. I am LOVING these shades against a light, creamy nude shade, it is a stunning combination and I took some pictures of my new favorite combinations for you to see.
I was working on organizing my nail polish stash when I found the China Glaze Islands Escape collection and immediately regretted not playing with it sooner. It is packed with bold shades that are perfect for summer. It has the “it” orange shade of the moment and a few other fun shades that I have grown to love. Now that I really am dying to wear these shades, I do not have nails to speak of.
Until my nails are back to a more presentable, nail polish worthy state, I’ll be showing you some swatches on these nifty color wheels. This still gives me a feel for the formula and honestly, it is nice applying color on a “nail” that you don’t have to worry about a about a clean application with.
China Glaze is introducing their new summer collection called Island Escape and it’s all about high shine and bright shimmer.
Take an exotic island escape with China Glaze this summer with a tropical, shimmering rainbow of brilliant bright colors! Mix and match these hot hues to add a candy-like pop to that summer manicure and pedicure. Vacation in color!
Colors in the collection include:
Papaya Punch – crème based vivid orange
108 Degrees – flirtatious berry pink with specks of micro glitter
Senorita Bonita – passionate purple shimmer with pink micro glitter
Blue Iguana – bold and daring sparkly blue
Cha Cha Cha – vivacious shimmer green
Electric Pineapple – high intensity crème based lime green
I can already tell that I am going to be head over heals in love with Electric Pineapple, would be fun to pair that with a Crackle shade, wouldn’t it? Any of these shades speaking to you? The China Glaze Island Escape collection will be hitting stores in May, when we’ve had a little more time to adjust to the idea of summer coming our way.
